Mainly needs to get more of the ball. 10 touches a match is not enough.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY
Cranky Franky replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Meh I am underwhelmed big time. Kennedy gets fewer touches per game than Toumpas does. -
Some of you critics have no idea. He is actually team oriented & a very smart player - not to mention AA, Norm Smith medallist & 3 premierships - that means he is a couple of levels above Daniel Cross. And his form this year was pretty good. He might even have taught Max Gawn not to spoil Jesse Hogan. Would have made a great asset.
-
I would have taken him in a heartbeat. Getting on but still managed 21 touches & 5 marks a game & kicked 30 goals. We are desperately in need of some experience up forward to organise the troops & make space for Jesse H. Can't believe they didn't sound him out . Oh well have to do with Jake M instead.
-
Can't query his passion to the Club but after being in AA form in 2013 he has been a great disappointment. He has been timid, hesitant, scared to take the game on & not much better than good/ordinary and really he has the ability to be much better than that.

2015 Player Review - # 28 Oscar McDonald
Cranky Franky replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
He was given charity games that he had not earned but I don't mind the coaches giving young players a taste of senior footy. -
2015 Player Review - # 5 Jimmy Toumpas
Cranky Franky replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
TWO (2) Issues for JT and 2 only as far as I am concerned. 1. Panics when he gets the ball & often makes poor decisions 2. Disposal by hand & foot is not up to scratch. Fix these 2 up & we have a player. -
Straight swap - Howe for Toby Greene
Cranky Franky replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
Toby Greene's kicking is worse than Terlich's. -
I'd take him in an instant. Hopefully has a couple of decent years left. Noted goal kicker, good ball user, has footy "smarts" & runs rings around any small forward we have apart from Garlett.
-
While I am generally happy with Paul Roos he is an absolute genius in deflecting any serious review or criticism of his own performance. Instead of whining about supporters & players he should have a serious look at decisions made by the Brains Trust this year. Some of them have stunk to high heaven.

Thought I would buy my kids some MFC T shirts today. Got onto the MFC shop & tried to purchase a $200 order & got jammed, tried several times but gave up in the end. Now I have managed to buy stuff on line from China, India, Mexico, UK, US & Australia without any problems but failed to do so on the Club site. It is badly designed & illogical. Geez I am trying to give the Club some $$ & they won't take it.

I had hopes for Michie but he has done very little so far. Needs to consistently get 20+ touches. Has 3 weeks to make an impression or see you later.

Sorry but only a tool would use the word reject when talking about Vince. Crows wanted to get a particular player & needed to trade for a draft pick so Vince was an option. He is no more a reject than Josh Kennedy or Brad Ottens.

Jared Rivers' career could be over
Cranky Franky replied to Henrietta Lumbago's topic in Melbourne Demons
And just why did 186 happen ? Didn't the senior players go to the Board that week and complain about the interference from a certain CEO & his mate & the fact that they were undermining the coach ? This small historical matter is conveniently forgotten by some supporters. -
Jared Rivers' career could be over
Cranky Franky replied to Henrietta Lumbago's topic in Melbourne Demons
Some Melbourne supporters are very fond of rewriting history ie Stan Alves walked out on Melbourne - He did not walk out he was sacked. Scott Thompson walked out on Melbourne - he did not walk out he was contracted & would have stayed if a swap could not be arranged. My reading of the situation was that Neeld made no effort to keep Rivers & effectively showed him the door & was happy for him to go & pick up a compo pick. -
Some perspective please. Thought his last few weeks have been disappointing (along with many others). Saturday was arguably his best game for us. Lets hope he keeps up the good form.
-
Dawesy is an enigma. He has been scratchy this year & generally not much better than Pedo. Give him his due though he was very good on Saturday & has also been very good in some of our other wins. Like Garlett he will probably frustrate & entertain in equal measure. I think that if other forwards lift their game & the delivery to the forwards gets better then Dawes will become a better player.

These 2 players leaving the Club have turned out to be the best thing that could have happened. It has resulted in us picking up Bernie Vince & Jessie Hogan who are just fantastic players so again thank you TC & CS.

Nice bit of rational logical argument to call someone a dix#head. Setting a great example to us all.

Garry Lyon commented some time ago that the booing would continue as long as commentators kept banging on about it & telling the public they were naughty for doing it. He was right it had almost stopped until the WC game. WC supporters have a history of booing like they did to Jobe Watson & they dislike Goodes because the Swans have belted them in Perth many times. There are a lot of supporters that do not like the AFL and commentators wagging their fingers at them telling them what to do.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Cranky Franky replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ridiculous comment contrary to all the evidence we have seen. First of all JT was not underperforming - he was injured so it doesn't lay the law down to anyone. Plus Richmond would not have bothered with a medical if the deal was a sham & both Trengove & Roos have indicated in interviews that the deal would have gone ahead. -
Totally lame.

The fact that we only have 35,356 members is a real concern for our long term survival. From 2008 to 2011 the numbers grew steadily despite our lack of success. This year it looks like we will end up with less members than last year. This despite getting high profile players to the Club like Lumumba & Garlett, having the no 2 & 3 Draft picks & the debut of Jesse Hogan. Maybe supporters are tired of the empty promises and poor efforts in pre season games & beltings in the early rounds just kills the membership drives. Not sure of the demographics but it doesn't seem that our involvement at Casey & playing games in the NT has resulted in much of a membership increase in those areas. If we are going to become a great Club again we really have to crack 40,000 members in the next couple of years.

Ground Hog day AGAIN. JEEZ a post like this comes up every 6 months - Lets remember Wiz, lets remember Robbie, Lets remember Ox. It only happens 'cause we are having a carp year & there's nothing to look forward to. Totally depressing. I bet Hawthorn supporters don't spend too much time looking over old tapes of Dermie or Dunstall.

One day people will wake up & realise that Racism is a human condition found all over the world. Some of the worst examples I have experienced are In Japan by Japanese against Koreans & other dark skinned migrants. In India by upper caste Hindus against other people particularly lower castes & if they had darker skin. In Central Australlia by some Indigenous people against Non Indigenous. In the Top End by white red necks against anyone of colour. In Italy by Northern Italians against Southern Italians. Plenty of other examples as well in Hong Kong, Morocco & Indonesia. When I find a country without racists I'll let you know.
