We need to remember that Frost has played just 25 odd games of footy. He was initially a rookie at GWS. He showed promise as a defender at GWS. I think Roos is showing poor judgement to expect him to be holding down CHF. He needs to go back to defence, learn the game & get comfortable. Then after a couple of seasons when he has learned a bit more about the game maybe he can be tried up forward.
-
The fact is that coaches despite the fact they have a lot of knowledge occasionally get it totally wrong. Eventually the penny will drop & Frost will go back to defence.
-
The Brains Trust have got this badly wrong. From the highlights of Frosts time at GWS he is a natural defender so put him back there. Plus we are desperately in need of another Tall in the backline - someone to take on the 195-200 cm forwards. Lobb was virtually marking at will during the game, lucky for us his kicking was off.

Jack took a step in 2015. That was when he started to be more aggressive in contests and learned to dispose of the ball effectively when being tackled. He had a very good patch of form for about 10 to 12 games before falling away. He just needs to learn to play like yesterday week in week out.

After last year's last minute loss to the Saints I read comments by big Max. He said in hindsight he should of just tapped the ball to his feet & tried for another ball up again and again to use up the time. Yesterday 10 seconds to go & he taps it down the throat of a GWS player who banged it forward where they had a chance to take a mark. Looks like not much was learned.

I think you are correct - a lot of players fire up in their contract year. interesting comments about Dunn from Roos I this year's guide " Its really now about him grasping what we want him to do with regards to the game plan and making simple decisions"

MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 1, 2016
Cranky Franky replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Concerned is not the word - Disaster is more like it. He was dreadful in the first NAB cup game & barely competent in the last one. A decent forward will cut him to pieces. -
$cully Dumped from GW$ Leadership Group
Cranky Franky replied to Redjacket's topic in Melbourne Demons
At the time Robert Walls wrote an article telling Scully to take the $$ because what GWS was offering was a ridiculous amount & Scully would only ever be a good ordinary player. For what GWS offered up they should have got a player of the calibre of Swan, Pendlebury or Dangerfield. -
It'll be a great half back line this week with Hunt, Oscar McDonald & Wagner
-
I know its all fun and games but seriously I wonder whether some of the Demonland posters are on a parallel universe or are taking strong medication. Hunt is a million miles from playing senior football he has not even played good consistent footy at Casey. I've even seen people suggesting Oscar Mac & Hulett are champions where in fact they have yet to establish themselves in the Casey firsts.

Are you serious or having a lend of us ? Hunt barely touched the ball in the 2 games I saw him play. He is a long way from his debut.

2014 recruiting creating a dynasty
Cranky Franky replied to Its Time for Another's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gawn, Tom McD, & Dunn all showed some talent & ability from their first few games Oscar has not. He was at Casey reserves for the first half of 2015 then got 2 charity games at the end. In the NAB games this year he has been awful and pretty much completely lost. He has no strength or physical aggression, poor vision and ordinary disposal. I sincerely hope he makes it too but lets keeps some perspective. -
2014 recruiting creating a dynasty
Cranky Franky replied to Its Time for Another's topic in Melbourne Demons
You are kidding - Oscar looks barely capable of playing VFL at the moment. He has a long, long, long, long way to go. -
Depressing. Looks like after a solid 2015 Casey are back to being a rabble. If Melbourne are going to be a good side we need Casey to be competitive It's vital for the development of the young players. The comments seem to be the same - we seem unable to retain mature solid bodied players at Casey - they keep leaving. Surely the Club can put some $$ into keeping some experienced players at Casey.

Tom McDonald needs to take a good hard look at himself.
Cranky Franky replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Exactly. 2 Practice games & they want to lynch someone who was in AA contention early in 2015. There are some real knobheads on demonland. I reckon you shouldn't be allowed to post an opinion unless you have demonstrated some intelligence & knowledge of the game. Maybe we need a Certificate 3 Course in Football Matters -
Martin Flanagan revisits the centre
Cranky Franky replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hate to put a downer on the story as I think Flanagan is generally a very good writer but the ex cricketer Ian King was found guilty of child sex charges in Canberra in 2009 & jailed for 12 years. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LIAM HULETT
Cranky Franky replied to Nasher's topic in Melbourne Demons
Because its the DEMONLAND way to gush over someone & pump them up to win a Brownlow before we even have a clue about whether they can play or not. Some of the comments about Hulet's potential are bordering on idiotic. The same supporters of course will start screaming to delist the same player after 5 or 6 games if they haven't cemented a spot in the side. -
Mitch Clark - did we dodge a bullet?
Cranky Franky replied to thesleepinggiant's topic in Melbourne Demons
I certainly wish him well but it was hard not to feel let down by him after the Club had done all it could to help Mitch then find out he wanted to make a comeback to footy but couldn't do it at Melbourne & had to go to a new Club. I also lost all respect for Liam Jurrah the year he walked out on the Club on the eve of the VFL finals when he was supposed to be playing for Casey. -
I thought he actually looked lost up forward last year. He played 3 games & averaged 8 touches, 1 mark & 1 behind per game so he has a fair way to go.
-
Many supporters on these sites are a tad optimistic to say the least. We recruit player x & then some supporters start drooling, pencil them in for a Brownlow & a couple of B&F's before the poor bloke has actually played a game. I would be happy if Hunt show us he can be a solid player at Casey before thinking of playing him in the 1sts.
-
Not sure what evidence you have that Frost is the best athlete but even if he is that has SFA to do with his skills up forward. I have also seen no evidence that he is able to ruck. The kid has played a handful of games & shown reasonable ability as a defender for GWS. I'd have thought the obvious thing to do is let him settle in defence for a while & let him build up his confidence. Playing straight ahead in defence is much easier than having to play forward. Throwing him to the wolves up forward sounds like a dumb plan.
-
Pencilling in Hunt for Round 1 is ridiculous but continues the great Demonland tradition of supporters creaming their pants over someone who hasn't actually done anything yet. Hunt has some ability but is yet to establish himself at Casey much less getting picked in the ones.

Breakfast With Bails Not Quite Sold Out
Cranky Franky replied to Slartibartfast's topic in Melbourne Demons
Who cares what journalists do or don't do. Melbourne supporters should stop foaming at the mouth & having nervous breakdowns about Robbo, Caro, Damo, Dwayne Russell or the clowns on the Footy Show. They are a sideshow & not the reason we have been crap for the last 10 years & flagless since 1964. I worry about, the Board, the Coach, the Footy Dpt & the playing list - they are the real issue. -
Breakfast With Bails Not Quite Sold Out
Cranky Franky replied to Slartibartfast's topic in Melbourne Demons
A number of Melbourne supporters are continually obsessed with laying blame on the media. Mark Robinson is a prat but he is a sideshow & was just doing his job. To me the real story of DB's last year at the Club was: 1. How he was being undermined by certain people within the Club 2. The fact that a delegation of senior players complained to the Board about this interference. 3. The failure of the Board to deal with the matter properly. To my mind these events directly led to the capitulation at Geelong & DB's sacking. -
I also have never understood the animosity towards GL. He was a great player & bled for the Club. Sure he was involved in some appointments where they got it wrong but the only reason he was involved was because the Board was dysfunctional & disorganised & he put his hand up to help. As a footy analyst I reckon he is pretty solid & a lot better than many of the clowns out there.
