  1. Melk is a role player now...with Stewart out there probably isn't a role for him. As for X-factor...if that's code for not getting the footy very much then he has it in spades. To be fair, the role he plays means he's not going to get a lot of it.
  2. Yep...
  3. I would suspect we are in a tampering off for finals period now, fitness will be in a maintenance phase mainly through games. So maybe not such a big disruption...
  4. If he could sort his disposal he could be handy on a wing. As a run with you have to have a degree of footy smarts and he doesn't have that.
  5. Yep, I get where you are coming from but I don't think you can select a player forward because he's a liability in defence. Surely we're well done with that. What would that say to Weid??? Smith has had the same problems forward in the past...flying at every contest, spoiling teammates etc. I will add another problem for him as a defender, his disposal and decision making has been poor and he's not a smart enough footballer to play a lockdown role that Hibberd at least can do.
  6. Just because he kicked some goals in a practice match doesn't make him a forward. He's not a forwards a....hole I'm with 'Polly', no way...and if he does get a game this week it will be in the back half which is where he has been playing with Casey. ...and he won't want to stuff up with May and Lever running that show.
  7. He's a beauty...love him on the field and off.
  8. Leadership has changed to followship...my own new word sorry '@Demonstone'. Followship is the art of following the trend...not setting or doing anything that might offend a group of important voters. Tap into what they're thinking then go with that. It's the antithesis of Leadership. It's common to all sides of politics now, but I will say our PM is a renowned exponent. The leader of the opposition, if anyone bothered to listen to him is probably not a lot better.
  9. ...but can he take instruction? He will need to be able to listen to Lever and May. Otherwise it will be a very short return to senior footy and put him on the outer at the end of season.
  10. Yet he was still able to do some great lockdown roles during the early part of the season. Might have a bit more in the tank after a rest. I think he will be back this weeK. Maybe they will give Smith a run, he has the obvious athletic attributes but he sure doesn't have the footy smarts. Would this make him a liability to a well drilled defence?
  11. Could you explain this 'A F'? the money comes out of thin air??? Brian is 65yo and retiring this year 'Mazer'...won't be going on to the AFL now.
  12. I used to travel all over the suburbs and Geelong (wouldn't get there until half time) from the late 60's through 70's by train, walk, tram...Vic Park, Windy Hill etc...some really dark days there. I don't care where we play so long as we win it...if this is the year I will be ecstatic. If it's in Perth I will be ecstatic, if it's on the moon, I will be over the moon. I just want to see one, I don't have to be there, it would be nice but it's not as nice as winning. I was at the '88 loss by the way, wouldn't wish that on anyone.
  13. They won't let you in either...and don't touch the footy.
  14. I couldn't 'bin'... He's done nothing to show this so far. No way would he take the chance now, it would be of no benefit for him to do it. Particularly if he already has the GF sown up. ...and the AFL won't have a bargaining chip if they want a crowd. I think you're dreamin'
  15. He's a really interesting one...
  16. Some people must lead a very sad existence...
  17. I still reckon he's overrated... Was abysmal in the GF a couple of years back. Had some mates for sure but he's the one that's supposed to lead from the front and he left it to a kid, Taranto to do all the work. Also spends a lot of time injured... Not worth the $'s
  18. If it wasn't for the lightning they were headed for a 50 point defeat at a minimum. NikNat was out on his feet, the rest of the team had given up. They were very, very lucky to get close... We really should have sealed it again early on resumption missing a couple of easy shots that would have deflated them again.
  19. Got me 'Mach', it was in April though'...I think I posted recently that we should bring him in on the changes thread. Youthful enthusiasm, might blossom at the level and all that jazz. Now that he is in he's going to be hard to move out on his form in both games. It's funny looking over some old posts and cringing...I know when someone bumps a thread I hope I haven't said something dumb, shudder when I have, sigh of relief when I haven't.
  20. Hunt - Taylor calls Langdon ...and the camera is right on his face as he's getting his ankle checked by the physio on the boundary line. To be fair he couldn't see his number.
  21. Jackson -The Rising Star...
  22. Not 3 words, but Olivers ball handling in the wet was impeccable.
  23. Yes, that's when an idiotic FD and coach thought Max was a forward and had Spencer ahead of him in the ruck at Casey and whenever he played a senior game either Jamar or Spencer were the go to's with Max doing a bit of relief. This is where averages are a furphy.
  24. There have been huge changes 'faulty'...but you have to wonder how many of these are really just on the surface. We've shut down a lot of what people say on and off the field but that doesn't stop what are really thinking. Sometimes by shutting down the voice, which is ugly and needs to be, we are hiding the real thoughts of many people. We might be kidding ourselves that we have made real advances, I hope not... Betts thinks things are getting worse. We have a long, long way to go...
  25. 'Durrie', if only it was a case of 'Boomers', then when we die out it there would be no more racism and the world would be a better place. I know people of all generational segments with less than optimal views on race... Unfortunately as Tex just proved, it's not only the problem of one generation. The bigger problem is the attitudes passed down through generations, from family to family...this cycle is very hard to break. Anyway, as you say...enough of Tex and onward to Monday night and beyond.
