I think you are both wrong. The FD has a much better idea of who is equiped to play. On that senior list Brown, Baker, Weed, Dunstan, Tommo, Smith, & Melk, 3 have gone, one (Tommo) we couldn't move on and another (Smith) always injured. So Dunstan and Melk who were both used. Obviously our depth wasn't as good (or ready) as a lot here thought. As for mentioning Howes "Nev'...I don't get your point, he was injured. ...and they would likely have pulled the trigger on him as they did with disco if he wasn't. So they weren't averse to playing kids but the kids had to be ready to go.

There really weren't any walk up starts at Casey. To win a VFL flag you generally have a solid core of senior players & some promising kids in development. We had Brown, Baker, Weed, Dunstan, Tommo, Smith, Buntine, Munro, White & Melk...the AFL listed were all in the break glass in case of emergency category. Apart from Melk those who got a run hardly fired a shot when played at AFL level. Of our younger brigade only Chandler & Bedford were pushing. Bedford was sub in a million games. Neither would have made a huge difference. Disco was stiff with injury. Bowey ran into form too late in the season, but he is the one that could have made a difference. JVR wasn't ready. Wishing was never going to make it so...the club did the right thing long term in holding him back. The beauty of the VFL flag was twofold 1. It rewarded some loyal servants & 2. It gave the developing younger brigade a taste of success. edit: so I reckon '@binman' was spot on.

Nuggets' Music Videos
RIP Jeff...over the journey probably the greatest of the rock guitar players.

Nuggets' Music Videos
Might add this one...fascinating band the Reels. First met them at the Station Hotel and they were kind of a prog rock band then they morphed into a pop band with songs like Prefab Heart but Quasimodo's is the one for me (I liked all by the way).

Kozzy Pickett Re-Signs for 4 Years
Agree, the whole year just didn't look right and we finished 2nd after the H & W. Still we didn't really look like it. I thought the same re Salem...very strange. Same with Rivers.

Kozzy Pickett Re-Signs for 4 Years
Then what was the point? the point or posting? I'm a bit slow today...

Maybe, maybe not...

People are allowed to change opinions 'Nev'. I think it's would be a good thing if more of us did when faced with critical evidence rather than hold an entrenched view and argue it to the death.

Kozzy Pickett Re-Signs for 4 Years
I don't think we were in the position to rest our key players 'dazz'... Geelong could do it because of the easy draw they had in the last part of the season, ours wasn't so kind plus midseason results meant we had to work for our top 4 spot. The opportunity just didn't present itself. In the end it was all for nothing. Then again maybe not if lessons were learnt.

Mongrel Punt season forecast
Yep, at worst he blocks space...less room for forwards to lead for the chip pass. Most likely pressure up the ground will see more get out of jail kicks which we can pick off.

Kozzy Pickett Re-Signs for 4 Years
I can't complain, we got a flag and he was a key player. Would loved to have kept him. ...but is the hype bigger than the individual. When it gets to a certain level I would say it always is.

Dees Highlights of 2022
The AFLW season and premiership was the highlight for me in 2022. The way they played and the spirit they played with I found really engaging.

Rolling Team of the Century
No...I wouldn't think so. Smith was a gun, his coaching deeds overshadow those as a player but he could play.

2023 Season Preview
Shoulder surgery and delayed return to full training is a lot different to cleaning up a thumb issue and straight back into full training.

2023 Season Preview
I don't get Richmond...they've picked up 2 good to very good (not great) mids. They replace Edwards and Lambert who to date have been better. Prestia is a big injury.. Lynch is struggling with injury. Grimes another injury concern. Cotchin is done and Reiwoldt not far behind. Martin is the mystery...will he or won't he.

AFL Crystal Ball: Way-Too-Early Predictions for 2023
Yep, they are the ones. Depends a lot on how Bevo measures up in 2023... The list is more balanced across the ground if they chose it to be that way. That first game is going to be a good one.

Not AFL
I don't know 'old dee', it seems to me that one team has the ball...they run down the court & score then the other team gets it and does the same. Occasional one team stuffs it up and the team that stuffs up the least wins. Not too exciting at all really.

The New Home Base & Training Ground Thread
You are a funny man 'Nev'... ...but seriously, I guess it's still a waiting game for us. "Been a long time" to quote Led Zeppelin. Thanks for taking the time to contact the club and to fill us in on your reply 'old dee'... Much appreciated.

Not AFL
Now, this is a game I find particularly boring...too much scoring & so predictable. Each to their own I guess.

He did the Tomahawk a few times at Casey this year, a work in progress...

Not AFL
I don't agree with the knock on the game itself...low scoring keeps it interesting to the end. The Cat's GF was over in the first 10 minutes. Geelong and Sydney supporters didn't go on a rampage for the rest of the game. It's a cultural problem worldwide for sure...it's been a problem here with soccer and I only hope it doesn't take hold in our sport. Think of the Buddy celebration at the SCG, what other sport and country (maybe NZ) could that type of celebration occur? If soccer are serious about cracking down they need to start suspending clubs or at the very least take match points away.
