I sure hope you are right 'DubDee'...it's been a hard few years for all of us.

No, but some countries have had significant infection/reinfection rates...South Africa I think is one.

Herd immunity has so far been a furphy with this virus....so I wouldn't be counting on it.

I believe it has been endlessly politicised by the politicians. It would have been great to have true leadership at this point in time rather than an eye at all times on the polls but I guess we make do with what we have.

You would have to think that with the increase in numbers we will get an increase in hospital admissions and this has been the case in NSW. I don't understand why you think they are flatlining. Maybe as a % but if we keep getting these increases then the hospital system is going to struggle particularly with staff already exhausted. If those beds are taken then it means no spots available for people with other issues.

...and what you're saying is politics or medicine.
  7. If you're taking it from 1972 then probably not, he was in his last couple of seasons. If you are talking his whole career, then most definitely he would rank higher than probably any on that list. Same with Frank Davis...

Have a great and safe Christmas everyone. Thanks especially to Andy and the crew for this great site. I know we can all get a bit willing at times but the common love for the Demons is the thing that binds us together. The curse, and the long-suffering are finally no more. Enjoy!

...and those that can't be vaccinated for medical reasons? Lets just let them fend for themselves, let them get the worst outcomes too. Sorry, but that statement is thoughtless.

Come on 'old dee', we said the same about a premiership... Time to at least go glass half full...

Was thinking the same 'Dee', it's a lot of added pressure to carry. Social media can be very cruel & unforgiving. Anyway, I hope the kid will be ok...
  12. Looks to be a good appointment. I forgot the Williams connection with him at the Tiges. Byrnes was also match day runner, always seemed to have a good vibe about him. ...would think Conca might also take those duties.

I think he really belongs in the proven at the standard list. Doesn't make him a walk up by any means but he can play AFL, just that Ratten wasn't a fan.
  14. All of my friends who support other clubs have said that we were clearly the best team in 2021...some even pointed that out to me during the season. They also said they had never seen a better display of football than the GF, best football they had witnessed in their time watching the game. Only a fool would be saying same old Melbourne now...that's old news. Whatever happens from here on I will look back at this year happy to have seen a premiership win by a great team and a performance for the ages.

How many clubs thought they got the easy draw last year when they got us twice... 2022 is a new year.

They're actually not a bad bunch it's the freeloaders that are the problem...

The Hawk supporters don't show up unless they are Premiership contenders and that's not likely. Most are really fair weather fans...they only have a few rusted on's and I reckon I know most of them.

That's not good...and for all the focus on this at the top level so many of us have copped as bad or worse at local footy over the years.

Well, young 'picket' the only time I was knocked out in my time of playing footy was through ground hardness. Apparently (obviously I don't have first hand recollection) my head hit the turf in the goal square as a result of a tackle. The next thing I know is paramedics asking me dumb questions like "what is your name", in the rooms.
  20. Rozee really needs to up his game, at the moment he's a down hiller with a heap of ability. Will he show it or will he end up another Wingard, pick & chose - hit & miss.

Managing the risk has been a real problem so far. 1st world countries have been told that there will be a major issue if they don't get 3rd world countries vaccinated. ...and here it is. Our answer has been to close down manufacture of the Astra vax...instead we could have used excess production to push it out to 3rd world countries and help in some small way to manage the risk.

Yes we should 'Macca' but we've got some drop kicks running the country.
  25. Yep, if we are going for someone like Cerra it would need to be later in their career as a free agent now. Agree with you on Rosman, hasn't shown anything yet but also hasn't had a lot of football. He was a spec pic so lets give him time. Laurie on the other hand looks as though he has got something, needs a clear run at it and a few games to make a better assessment of him.
