Welcome to Demonland - Pick 17
Fair enough, to be honest he's probably not what we need anyway. I'm genuinely curious to see how this first round plays out and who we end up with.

Welcome to Demonland - Pick 17
More impressive to my eyes. Seems stronger and harder at the ball as well as having greater agility and has the strength to stand up in a tackle and get an effective disposal away. At 192cm he could be a beast. Maybe @Pennant St Dee will have some insights into him and how he is rated over in WA?

Welcome to Demonland - Pick 17
If a quality key position player is available I would think we would have to look long and hard at them. Amiss and Van Rooyen in particular. Otherwise there seems to be a plethora of mids/half backs that will be around the mark. One that caught my attention was Matthew Johnson from WA. Tall midfielder with great decision making and skills. Also loves the contested stuff which we know the dees value highly. Might go before our pick though.

I presume there won't be a ban on trades until the last hour like years gone by? Not that anything exciting is going to happen anyway.

AFL Trade Radio
Also completely glosses over the fact they traded out pick 2. With North now likely not to bid on Daicos, they could have used it to choose another player before a Daicos bid which in turn would have required even less points to match. I get that's more of a 2021 onfield performance issue and they would have been expecting to finish much higher, but any other club would be crucified for that deal coming back to bite them. "Geniuses" lol.

Dwayne's First Picked 18
Great players, not a single defender though.

2021 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem
I have a gut feeling that later on in his career he will swing forward and become a weapon, similar to Yze. Absolute gun.

Robbo’s Top 50 2021
Bontempelli went ok for a half. Could rotate off the bench as an impact player.

Sounds like GWS really weren't happy with Essendons conduct last year. Hope they make them pay through the nose or just hold Hill to his contract. Will Josh Mahoney play a role in Essendons trading?

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
While important to recognise biases such as these, I would argue that (pushing NGA factors to the side) Mac Andrew would have complimented our list profile brilliantly. Premiers just above highlighted the the current state of play re ruckman on a list. With Mac Andrew being as highly touted as he is, having him develop underneath Gawn and Jackson could have provided him a fantastic platform to transition into the team in 3-4 years time as Gawns career winds down. Jackson takes on the primary ruck role, Mac Andrew steps into the forward/ruck position and we again have the dominate ruck-ruck/forward combo for the next 10-15 years.

Something that seems to be going under the radar, in the media at least, is the incredible situation Collingwood finds itself in where they traded away this years 1st rounder. From afl.com re North Melbourne firming on Horne-Francis for their first pick. "...rivals now believing they are more unlikely to place a bid on Collingwood father-son Nick Daicos." So in affect, Collingwood could have had Finn Callaghan (or other) and Daicos but their poor year means they will now miss out on an extra top 3 pick. Then there is the trading away of multiple picks just to get points to match for the one player. Glad our club is far better run.

If we're only taking 1 or 2 picks into the draft then I would presume that we would move on pick 37, 49 and 57 into something better for this year or into next. 49 and 57 may come in by half a dozen spots or more and could be valuable for clubs still wanting points.

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
If we go for a mid I hope Josh Ward slides to us. Was super impressive in the games he played earlier in the season that I saw. Zac Taylor is one that has good raps on him for his kicking and I believe he has good pace. Half back could see Wilmot or maybe Sinn? Outside mids could have a look at Chesser or Wanganeen-Milera. Or my preference would be to have a developing key position player. Jye Amiss, Jacob van Rooyen and Jack Williams are all WA talls that performed well throughout the year. I'll have to do a bit more research into them but think we could do with a developing tall after Brown and McDonald closing in on 30 and a yet unproven Weideman. Seems an open sort of draft after the first handful of picks which makes things interesting and hard to predict.

We're pretty spoiled on this site. @Chook in Perth @goodwindees @Yokozuna Have all shared fantastic reliable Intel over the years.

Kade Chandler
- Welcome to Demonland - Pick 17
All good, they change things on the fly these days.- Welcome to Demonland - Pick 17
With Chandler possibly leaving, do we do the salary dump deal with Gold Coast and pick up Macpherson as small forward back up and pick 19?- Welcome to Demonland - Pick 17
Not unless he's bid on after pick 20. They changed the rules at the end of last year so a team that selects him prior to 20 will get him and we won't be able to match. Father/sons are different and old rules still apply.- 2021 NATIONAL DRAFT ORDER AND SELECTIONS 2021
Maybe we have our eyes on a young key forward like Jye Amiss, Jacob van Rooyen or Jack Williams?- Welcome to Demonland: Luke Dunstan
We need midfield depth and he is a cheap plug and play option. Up to him if wants to battle it out on the fringes. There's a genuine shot for him to be part of a premiership team. That's gotta be enticing.- AFL Trade Period
They'll get better offers I would think.- AFL Trade Period
Subject to further trades, a bid on Daicos at pick 1 would mean pies would have to use picks 22, 36, 41, 43 and 46 to match. The flow on affects for our picks would look like 33 -> 32 45 -> 41 57 -> 52 This would further be improved by the Bulldogs matching of a predicted early bid for Darcy. The doggies pick 17 will no doubt be traded out for multiple later picks.- So...what do we need to achieve during this trade & draft period?
Small/medium lockdown defender (Maynard?) Project ruck and key forward Midfield depth (Dunstan?)- Welcome to Demonland: Luke Dunstan
First Cerra and now targeting Dunstan. Certainly looks like the club would like to add another midfielder. Our depth has taken a little hit with Jones and VDB gone. They didn't play much but we had a blessed run with injury and would be lucky to get year like that again.- AFL TRADE NEWS AND RUMOURS
Was desperately hoping we would be making a play for King. Salary cap only goes so far I guess. Presuming AVB wouldn't net as much at all in a trade. 4th rounder or later I'd imagine. - Welcome to Demonland - Pick 17
