Farewell Luke Jackson
He was all the rage on here during his draft year, can't say I've really kept tabs on him since. Has he been performing well at VFL level? And will he be a lead up forward or the "prototype" big bodied mid do you think?

Farewell Luke Jackson
This or something similar is probably the best deal we can get imv. Don't think we are at risk of losing brayshaw. Even if freo made a play for him, he'll be a RFA and we can match any terms, particularly in the setting of Jackson leaving. They will then have absolutely zero trade capital to get him so a deal won't be done. Or they start trading players like Serong or Young which I can't see happening.

2022 Injury List
Was listening to SEN on the way to the shops and they said they will have an injury update on demons Oliver, Lever and Ben Brown later in the show. Not sure when and can't listen now. Anyone know of a potential injury to Ben?

Farewell Luke Jackson
I'm with @Demon3 here. Most of our salary cap is tied up with our contracted existing list that we're trying to keep together long term. We need to balance that out by adding high quality youth rather than costly ready made players unless they fill a specific need (back-up ruck, key forward etc..). This allows us room to improve contract offers down the track to retain deserving players that start cementing themselves in the 22. Think JvR, Howes, Laurie, Turner etc... Otherwise we will start haemorrhaging best 22 players we want to keep because our salary cap will be constantly buldging and they won't get the remuneration they deserve. Also for those that haven't clued on, Demon3 has good mail. I'm tipping this isn't a guess on his/her behalf but rather a statement of fact. Edit: I think we are also planning as best we can to keep our window open for as long as possible. All good to say our window is now, but I would rather keep it open for another 10 years instead of 2.

2022 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Harley Reid stands out so much already as a bottom ager, real talent for next year and should go high I would imagine.

2022 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Good to see George come in at number 15 who I believe @dazzledavey36 has a bit to do with. In the event we either trade up or Jackson leaves and we obtain a first round pick (or two) we have some decent prospects to choose from. I've made it known here that I'm keen on KPF Cadman but would be equally as happy with Jefferson while I think Sheezel and Phillipou are potential stars in the making. Harry Barnett by far the best ruck prospect in it with athleticism and skill. Possible that we will luck out with Emile-Brennan sliding to +40

2022 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Hasn't officially nominated yet but presume he will. Jaspa Fletcher also another decent f/s prospect for them this year. They're going to need a lot of draft points to match, big opportunity for clubs to upgrade picks with them this year.

West Coast having the 1st pick in the psd might actually help by incentivising freo to bring us the best possible deal or risk losing him to their cross town rival.

COACHES VOTES: Round 18, 2022
I think it's because only one coach voted for him.

CHANGES: Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
In: Oliver, Petty, one of Weid or JvR Out: Melksham, Tomlinson, Bedford Not liking this small forward set up we have going. Feel we need another tall target as Ben Brown is often competing and taking marks on the wing with no other talls forward of him. Bedford has been great in the vfl and shows promise but has been poor for a few weeks now. It's far too late in the season to trial this now, but as long as May and Lever are in the backline I feel Tomlinson is an adequate 3rd tall defender allowing Petty to swing forward. Something I hope we go with next year with maybe Turner replacing Tomlinson.

Not on his own no. But who knows how deals of contracted players will pan out. Freo have more leverage there. As an example if freo win the flag it could be something like Bulldogs pick 10 and 28 for Lobb and 18. On draft points that puts Lobb worth pick 16.

Farewell Luke Jackson
In reference to the bulldogs and freo part I got the impression that it was the writer spit balling ideas with the potential names and commodities known more than anything else. Seemed to have more conviction on the Meek to Melbourne part if Jackson decided to go.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Herald Sun alleging that the dees do not want Lobb as part of any trade and that the dockers are likely to go hunting for draft picks. Lobb linked to bulldogs who could end up with a top 10 pick. Guess they're suggesting that freo may try and acquire pick 10 for lobb, although surely that trade would need freo sending picks back to bulldogs as well to balance. However, freo do not have a 2nd and 3rd rounder this year due to last years trade period. Paper states that if Jackson does request a trade to freo then Lloyd Meek 'appears certain' to become a demon.

TEAMS: Rd 18 vs Port Adelaide
Covid going to cause a lot of havoc over the next couple of months. Hope our players are smart about socialising from here on out. Might cost us top 4 or themselves a spot in the team around finals time.

Sounds like a good target to take over the number 1 ruck role come 2025. Vic kid as well.

On a totally unrelated and non-vindictive note, can anyone tell me when Sean Darcy is a free agent?

Sad, highly doubt we will get anywhere near his worth.

CASEY: Rd 16 vs Geelong
Thought Weideman and JvR acquitted themselves quite well considering the at times torrential rain making conditions a nightmare for key forwards. Must say thay JvR looks to have superceeded Weideman already though with impressive contested marking and body work. I'm hoping at least one of JvR or Laurie gets a debut, both have earned it in my opinion.

This is going to be a fun thing to hear 5 times a week for the rest of the year.
