  1. Popped past quickly on the way in to town. The boys were training the house down. Interested to see Byrnes out there. Mitch, Blease, Dom Tyson doing rehab drills. Dom was getting moving doing some reasonable intensity 200m runs, so his hammy can't be too much to worry about. Running groups were just getting started with 3 x 5 per group. Roos was out there again, so ratio is building. Will await more info from others who got to stay for the real business.
  2. Not that I know any inside info, but I reckon it will be Dew. Roosy would not have gone into this without knowing exactly who his support staff would be. I would not be surprised if this was marked from well out.
  3. She wrote articles last pre-season alluding to his issues. She is fair - people just don't like to open their biased eyes to it.
  4. Watching the B&F acceptance speeches, it is very clear the esteem that Rawlings is held. Very important to Garlo and Jones. So was Chocco Royal for that matter......
  5. I know him loosely through uni and common friends. He's a good man, a football person, switched on and a good operator from all reports. Obviously he will be trying mightily to right the ship, so he has a big job ahead of him!
  6. He certainly does. Strikes me as a great appointment. Knows football very well. A players man. Very successful in corporate life. Very happy for us to go with substance over some showman. IMO a great appointment to rebuild the culture of the club.
  7. Full interview here (previous link to Fox Footy was on 5mins) -
  8. It was just reported on Triple M with Garry saying he had just heard that it was officially knocked back. PJ doesn't go away until mid-August I think. I am sure he would have put in more than one call too.
  9. Garry via Barrett saying that Roos has officially knocked us back.
  10. I am sure when dealing with businesses and issues like the MFC it isn't simply a case of 'sorry but I had a holiday booked already'. I'd be confident he has things at hand before heading off.
  11. Mark Stevens tweeted tonight that Peter Jackson is off on holiday from mid Aug to mid September - must be pretty confident he'll have the key appointments taken care of by then?!!
  12. So, hypothetically, say we do continue to improve and win 3-4 games on the homeward stretch, where would that leave us in relation to concessionary picks relative to the likes of the Doggies / Saints? Mmm. Could there be some AFL sanctioned "list management"? Surely we would never allow that again given what it did to the fabric of our club last time!
  13. Does anyone have a grasp of Gerard Healy's true relationship with the MFC? Obviously (thanks, Trenners) his brother is the Football Director. Many here deride and question him, but I can't help but think that there is more at play here. How he teed up Brock McLean to open the tanking debacle again that ultimately flushed out Schwab, McLardy and others on the board. The fact in the media he somewhat set the agenda for the timing of Neeld going - bye bye at the bye. I have heard that he is very well connected and regularly discusses the state of the game with many key powerbrokers. Could it be that Gerard has had more involvement in all of this than we truly appreciate?
  14. Just got back from watching 20-30 mins and he (Watts) was training with intensity. Match simulation. One on one.
  15. I have it on good authority that Caro's main source is Andy himself.
  16. Caro on Sports Today intimating the latest whispers that the Reverand could be the man, but they were just that.
  17. From what I understand he has business studies behind him and had tired of coaching, wanting to move into Football Admin. Interestingly I noted Jackson said he had been working closely with Mahoney with regards to the structure of the football department.
  18. Neeld wants to stay in the job. He has no option other than to find positives in the situation. Of course he is going to say the things he has. He's not likely to can the whole situation. I heard on Friday that Alan Stockdale is lining up to take over the presidency.
  19. As a trained podiatrist maybe he was ahead of the game
  20. It took a school girls competition entry to right the Port Power jumper design. Perhaps we need to come up with some concepts and put it to the club? I know people say it doesn't matter, but in the current commercial climate I would say merchandise revenue is important - otherwise there wouldn't be such a turnover of jumper designs by clubs - see Lions, Hawthorn
  21. I don't really go for the current clash strip. I know Schwabby and his heritage mantra are gone, but I have to say I do like the thought of something like our heritage jumper but in reverse - red with navy strip down the front.
  22. He is just doing some consulting work for them, it is not a wide ranging or ongoing role.
  23. I popped down for most of the session, but was catching up with a mate from overseas, so didn't watch it that closely. Watts was doing rehab running with Taggert. Dawes, Grimes and Gawn were all doing shorter interval running for much of the session. Did some longer running towards the end. Interestingly, Blease spent quite a bit of time with all the new draftees doing specific, small group drills. Main group drills really focused on working the ball in confined spaces and some tackling. They finished off with some larger, full ground drills. My boy Jimmy Toumpas looked great on the track today. Viney also was right at the feet of the Russian for all the stoppage drills. Given the load the boys have had in recent weeks it was still a very solid session.
  24. I stopped on my way past this morning, around mid-session. They were doing 1km repeat gut runs. Looked like hard work. Will come back with more later.
