I chatted with someone in the know at training a couple of weeks ago and indicated that as you suspect, opposing clubs normally let a father-son prospect slide through if they are not top-end talent, hence how we got him easily. This club contact really rated the way he plays and also commented on his character being first rate. No surprise being the son of Doggy. A lot to like about him.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 24th January 2024
Swooper replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Popped in for a look. They had a trainer 1:1 working Jefferson over hard. Clearly trying to rough him up and increase physicality. Lever right into him ever time, revving the big fella up!- 169 replies

PRESEASON TRAINING: Closed Sessions at Casey until 2024
Swooper replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I went past on Monday post time trial and they did a lot of full ground transition work. It was outnumber play, but they were definitely practicing moving the ball quickly inboard through the corridor and as as another poster said, having a couple of options deep. No bombing down the line/to the pocket to be seen. It was very fun to watch. -
Don't forget our team consisting of Kozzy, Spags, Chandler and Bowey!
-
Turner was having a run around at Gosh's with the other young bucks - JVR, AMW, Woey etc
-
Around 10am. The boys were out doing match-sim again this morning.
-
I was riding past Gosch's on my way into town and there were 12-15 of the boys doing a kicking drill with Chocco and Yze overseeing. I think on Tuesdays and Thursdays they have 'craft' sessions at Gosch's. It is not worth a trip specifically, but if in the area always good to check out on the way through.

Won't happen. Caro said last night that games need to be played at MCC or Docklands because of LCD signage/stadia advertising - keeping any revenue stream they can afloat.

I presume going some work around breath holding (remember Tracc and his hypoxic blackout last year?) and mindset work, which is what Hendy does now. He has previously worked with the Saints as well.
-
Stopped past for 5mins on way through only to see Hibbo go off with what seemed like a calf and Vanders also hobbling away from Gosch's. Not ideal.

Oliver Gawn

He does. Mate of my played against him recently. Goody to 3/17 or the like. Goes alright, apparently.
-
I stopped for 5-10mins on my way past. Doing some match simulation clearing the ball from defence. Was fairly willing. Tracc the stand-out for mine again. Looking forward to a more detailed post from someone who was there longer - there was a reasonable crowd.

Word is we play GWS in Rd 2. Not exactly a soft start to the season.
-
He's got 3 boys. He and Anthony's boys play together and both dominate. All in good time though.

No White for MFC Clash Jumpers for Season 2018
Swooper replied to Rodney (Balls) Grinter's topic in Melbourne Demons
We’ll make a GF and be forced to wear the clash. Jones to hold the cup aloft wearing the #2 coming full circle from Robbie Flower and the dark years, thereby ending the Norm Smith curse.- 179 replies

Man, the bloke has 2 or 3 daughters am sure he would loath that, even in jest. Pretty bad.

New Major Sponsor: Automotive Holdings Group (AHG)
Swooper replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't know I'm afraid LH. Haven't spoken to my contact for a few weeks. -
I drove past and stopped briefly. Clarrie was 1-on-1 with Crossy. He looked knackered and not loving life. Rest of the boys were doing repeat 250s
-
That was beautiful. Those players would have made Andrew's heart swell - imagine the thrill for him. You can really see guys like Harmes, Hibberd, Gawn, Hunt look after him.
-
All players have their own boot deals and have had for some time - collective bargaining agreement

Went past around 8:30am. Rehab or 'other' group out doing running early. Pedro, JKH, Viney, Trenners, T Mac, Hannan, Maynard, King, Vanders. Not pushing it too hard, but Trenners moving at a good clip compared to some of the others in the sprint legs. Legs looking much stronger and more defined. Looks in good shape to me. Hannan a bit bigger in person than that early club photo suggests.

Great reporting from you two. Thanks very much.
