A Day at the Races
I reckon anything goes with a best bet Wadda ... whatever takes your fancy. For instance ... sometimes an each-way chance jumps out at you. You just know that each-way chance is going to get into the finish but it may not win. Ultimately we have the choice of sorting it all out as individuals to suit our betting strategy. I'm swinging over to 2-4-6-6 First4's in smaller fields in sprint races just because that suits my style. And so far, it's working. So, in essence, I play around with our trifecta picks and always have a back-up plan if the tips come in late. I like both the best bet and trifecta/first4 systems we have going. It's always good to get input from elsewhere.

A Day at the Races
Trifecta Strike Rate 2 from 7 < $48.90 > Best Bet Strike Rate 55: 26 - 13 - 2 Australian Group and Listed Races Just a heads up for next week whilst I'm here ... there are no G1 races next weekend but there are a few races that should be good betting races and thus, might suit our trifecta/first4 combinations. Specifically ... PJ O'Shea Stakes (former winners - Tulloch, Baghdad Note, Rough Habit) QTC Cup (formers winners - Schillaci, Hareeba) Belmont Stakes (recent WA performers 'Pounamu' and/or 'Art Series' may be running in this event)

The Soccer thread
Big moment for all Liverpool fans coming up - SBS are broadcasting the match from 4.00am. Could be a classic final as both teams like to go forward & score.

A Day at the Races
Interesting days racing ... have only watched the replays but the controversy with the track conditions at Doomben spoiled things a bit. The highlights being the classic finishes in the Kingsford-Smith & the Qld Oaks. Youngstar looks a horse of the future whilst Impending & Le Romain are 2 very classy racehorses. And the 'A Day at the Races' crew landed a trifecta at last (albeit not a big one) Moving on ... with the big overseas races I tend to go each-way on a horse in the Group 1's ... the pools for the exotics are way too small but each-way is an option for some value runners. However, I often tune in just to watch the best go around. Might have a go at a 2-4-6-6 First4 in the Sha Tin Vase though. Small field but some quite familiar horses are in the race. Also, I like Gustav Klimt each-way in 2000 Guineas, Soliloquy each-way in 1000 Guineas and Pakistan Star/Exultant in an exacta in the Chater Cup at Sha Tin. Tonight The Curragh - Irish 2000 Guineas 1600m $620k Group 1 1.10am Sunday Sha Tin - The Sha Tin Vase 1200m $500k Group 3 4.00pm Sha Tin - Standard Chartered Chater Cup 2400m $2Million Group 1 6.05pm Sunday Night/Monday Morning The Curragh - Irish Gold Cup 2100m $470k Group 1 11.25pm The Curragh - Irish 1000 Guineas 1600m $620k Group 1 1.10am

A Day at the Races
The Le Romain/Impending quinella was paying 9-2 ... and it was jumping out at us too. And the trifecta paid ok all things considered. a win is a win. The First4 the same ... 2-4-6-6 worked again. I reckon I have finally found a system that can work.

A Day at the Races
I just reckon the earlier the better Wadda ... having time constraints on the internet is tricky at the best of times. We'll see how we go next week ... I've got my own back up plan as you've seen above. Ended up getting the first4 anyway so I might be better off flying solo!! ?

A Day at the Races
Even 12pm is cutting it fine ... I often work on a Saturday and I often don't have time to access the internet. Others would have similar issues including those who only read the thread but might like our tips. The earlier the better works ... 12pm can easily become 1pm or 2pm.

A Day at the Races
Good choice DZ So here's how we sit with both trifecta races with @binman to fill in the gaps McKell Cup - Randwick Race 7 W/2/3 Ecuador W/2/3 Naval Warfare W/2/3 Our Century 2/3 ???????? 2/3 ???????? Kingsford-Smith Cup - Doomben Race 7 W/2/3 Le Romain W/2/3 Impending W/2/3 English 2/3 ???????? 2/3 ????????
-
A Day at the Races
Lovani has been scratched so you'll need to have another go DZ McKell Cup - Randwick Race 7 W/2/3 Ecuador W/2/3 ???????? W/2/3 Our Century 2/3 ???????? 2/3 ????????

A Day at the Races
My best bet for the weekend ... Randwick Race 6 No.3 Live and Free $2.50 Not exactly each-way odds but the horse is in fine form and should be getting into the finish with Brenton Avdulla on board. It's the best bet of a few of the Sydney Sky Racing pundits as well.
-
A Day at the Races
The last 2 have been scratched PD but the first 2 picks offer very good value - especially the Darren Weir trained 'Heavenly Thought' ... and 'Schism' is overdue to salute but again, it is very good each-way odds. An interesting one is 'Dafeenah' ... the bookies have kept it safe. Opened at about 5-2 and has stayed at those odds. It's only run is where it finished 12th of 12 where the horse looked like it over-raced. Won both it's trials though.

A Day at the Races
We need you to do the Kingsford-Smith Cup as well ... another 2 pkacegetters. We are doing 2 Trifecta races this week. Le Romain Impending & English are taken already! At your convenience BM ?
-
A Day at the Races
And I'll take 'Our Century' ... in form, lightly raced and has won or placed 3 times from 3 runs at the distance. Avdulla on board is a plus too. So here's how our 2nd trifecta race is looking ... McKell Cup - Randwick Race 7 W/2/3 Ecuador W/2/3 Lovani W/2/3 Our Century 2/3 ???????? 2/3 ???????? So if you've got the inclination to part with your wisdom on this race @binman , just post up a couple of likely placegetters at your leisure.
-
A Day at the Races
Not sure it matters a great deal DZ ... the 3rd pick is the tricky one as we're looking for a bit of value. But your pick 'Lovani' offers that value already so I may play it safe.
-
A Day at the Races
Well whilst BM is picking out his certainties we can go ahead and kick things off with the McKell Cup ... you liked Ecuador yeah? There are some other good fields up in Doomben apart from the 2 feature races ... specifically races 3, 4, 6 & 9. 'It's Somewhat' looks a standout in The Lord Mayors Cup (race 4)
-
A Day at the Races
Yep ... we'll get this one out of the way first DZ and then we can throw things open for the McKell Cup. I'll take 'English' as the 3rd pick to win ... although, I reckon it's a race in 2 between Impending & Le Romain. There's a couple of others that have run some very slick times of late but not at WFA level or against this sort of class field. So it's over to @binman to finish things off in the Kingsford-Smith Cup - we'll need 2 placegetters BM. W/2/3 Le Romain W/2/3 Impending W/2/3 English 2/3 ???????? 2/3 ????????

NHL
And it's now Vegas vs Washington in the final. The absolute newcomer vs the team that has often exited early in the playoffs. An unlikely match-up but here we are. Game 1 is next Tuesday 10am and then Thursday 10am for game 2 with game 3 on Sunday week at 10am. AEST. Really looking forward to this final and the bookies have installed Vegas as $1.60 favourites. I reckon it's line-ball but I'm leaning towards the Caps.
-
A Day at the Races
We could always have a go at the McKell Cup as well - punters lament and all that! Same format and we can play around with the picks as we see fit ... as previously stated, with the small fields it's not a bad idea to eliminate 3 or 4 horses and then shoot for the first4. Just a thought. ps ... the Oaks race is very tricky with a lot of the horses that may be at the end of their respective campaigns (already)
-
A Day at the Races
Ha ha! I reckon we'll get this one Wadda but not sure about the dividend for the trifecta. However, I play around with our picks and incorporate a first4 in there as well. I really like Le Romain as well but I'm third up this time around so it's over to @Dee Zephyr

A Day at the Races
My preference would be the Kingsford-Smith Cup so Wadda, you can decide out of the top 2 preferences if you like.
