  1. Well the Oaks it is then ... binman has gone with 'Savacool so it's over to you @Wadda We Sing
  2. Yep ... it's drawn gate 1 and according to racenet Despatch has the fastest barrier speed and should settle in the lead or near the lead. Won in convincing fashion at its last start but its up against some good horses in this race. Viridine was a good thing beaten at its last run whilst Nature Strip is a classy horse. She's So High is another - trained by Mick Price with Oliver on board.
  3. The sprint races at Morphettville have a 400m dash to a 400m bend which is worth noting ... those race links to racenet.com also have speed maps and settling positions which are also more than handy when evaluating a trifecta combo. As you'd know DZ, the wide barriers aren't always a hindrance for those horses with early speed. Especially if those horses to their immediate left are not fast starters. As you said, there are some quality fields assembled on the weekend. I like the Oaks race as well as the Euclase Stakes.
  4. @Wadda We Sing @Dee Zephyr @binman You blokes got a preference for the trifecta race? I'm happy to go with any race that takes your fancy ... the 4 races listed below all have merit. No rush but we probably should decide by Friday Evening ... Robert Sangster Stakes Morphettville 1200m G1 F & M WFA $1Million Australasian Oaks Morphettville 2000m G1 SW $500k Euclase Stakes Morphettville 1200m G2 3yo SW $500k A.D. Hollindale Stakes Gold Coast 1800m G2 WFA $358k
  5. I agree on the 'look' but were we looking that closely? Seems to me we were taken aback by how well they started playing. But let's not forget Dr Ageless was also involved down there and therefore the connection (by default) to Dank. Nothing will ever come of it though. Because no one will ever spill the beans - they'd be incriminating themselves and whoever does that rjay?
  6. Here are the 4 Group 1's from Sunday (Japan & Sha Tin) ...
  7. Found another race (Hollindale St.) this upcoming Saturday that could be a decent trifecta race - and it's a good field assembled too if the early acceptors are any indication. In fact, all 3 races have a number of very good horses that have been accepted. So 3 races in all that could suit although there may be 1 or 2 other races that might measure up. A.D. Hollindale Stakes Gold Coast 1800m G2 WFA $358k Australasian Oaks Morphettville 2000m G1 SW $500k Robert Sangster Stakes 1200m G1 WFA $1Million Trifecta Strike Rate 2: 1 - 1 (+66.50)
  8. That was a blow out ... Pakistan Star dominant.
  9. No Wadda, but that doesn't surprise. The small fields and the truly run races lends itself to the obviously good horses getting into the finish. But if 1 or 2 of the 3 top fancies don't figure in the finish there are some good dividends to be had. Trifectas at Sha Tin in the Group races have an 'each-way' feel about them ... I don't miss very often but the dividends can also often be 'money-back' or thereabouts. I see it as more of a percentage play hoping that my 4th & 5th picks can get into the finish (in a 3-5-5 trifecta) I also box the first 3 picks as that combo does salute on more than the odd occasion. 2-4-4 is another option that can reward.
  10. Yeah ... 150% here but like the Demons, we'll take any win Wadda!
  11. And Ivictory was up to it ... stunned Mr Stunning & clocked Beat the Clock! A star is born ... that was a seriously good win.
  12. Aren't the races from Sha Tin on the free-to-air channel?
  13. Well I got my days total outlay back on the 4th race Trifecta ... % only but I'm now playing with house money with bets already laid. I should just bet at Sha Tin and have the odd flutter in the local races here in Australia (Group 1's) Not every week but there's usually 2 or 3 good trifecta races on up there most weeks. Beauty Generation won with real class in the just completed G1 Mile ... just missed on the trifecta but 2 races to go Wadda. The Sprint race is up next. Lets see how good this Ivictory is up against Mr Stunning & Beat the Clock. It would want to be good to beat those 2.
  14. Demons get a win! ... albeit against average opposition. Still, there are a stack of average sides in the league. And the good teams aren't that good. Anyway, what was that line out of 'Hotel California'? "You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave!" Next Weekend's Group 1's (Overseas) USA Kentucky Derby 2000m 3yo SW (Sunday Morning) USA Woodford Reserve Turf Classic 1800m WFA(Sunday Morning) UK Newmarket 2000 Guineas 1600m 3yo SW(Sunday Morning) UK Newmarket 1000 Guineas 1600m 3yo Fillies SW (Monday Morning)
  15. Here are the early odds for the 2 Group 1's next Saturday at Morphettville ... a much better choice for our trifecta type race in my opinion. The fields will no doubt be reduced although 20 horses did run in the G1 Sprint last year whilst only 14 ran in the 2017 G1 Australasian Oaks ...
  16. I'm not sure I want to mozz them Wadda but I'll post up my 3 possible winners in each of the 3 Group 1 races - they are all quite obvious but I always hope for my 3rd fancied runner to win (highlighted) I'll add a couple of placegetters and box the 3 first choice runners in each race in a separate bet ...to stave off punters lament. Race 6 - Beauty Generation, Season's Bloom, Singapore Sling Race 7 - Mr Stunning, Beat the Clock, Ivictory Race 8 - Ping Hai Star, Time Warp, Al Ain
  17. Leather & Lace got up for 3rd ... the winner too good (one of the 'other' Weir horses) I've had a couple of ok collects today but my main aim was always Sha Tin tomorrow. Quietly confident of getting a few reasonable returns if things fall my way.
  18. Nice dividend too Wadda - well done! It was a tricky race but we nearly got it ... 1st, 2nd & 4th is always the worst possible outcome. Mister Sea Wolf was never in it whilst we probably all looked at McCreery. Well you did anyway ?
  19. Sedanzer had a dream run and had clear air but ... needed the run. Isn't hindsight a wonderful aid?
  20. Excellent choices there DZ ... the right configuration of our picks could pay reasonably well. Here it is in full. Hawkesbury Race 7 The Hawkesury Cup ... W/2/3 ... No.2 Equador W/2/3 ... No.6 Mister Sea Wolf W/2/3 ... No.7 Kingsguard 2/3 ........ No.3 Duca Valentinois 2/3 ........ No.11 Plaisir
  21. So our trifecta (Hawkesbury Race 7) reads as ... W/2/3 ... No.2 Equador W/2/3 ... No.6 Mister Sea Wolf W/2/3 ... No.7 Kingsguard 2/3 ........ ????????????? 2/3 ........ ????????????? Over to you @Dee Zephyr to close the deal.
  22. Safari JJ's tips are up on Racing.com (click on 'Tips' - above right)
  23. I much prefer your summation Wadda ... it's all about the money and you offer better odds!
  24. So our 3 best bets are ... Hawkesbury Race 6 No.10 Sedanzer (4.60) Caulfield Race 5 No.3 William Thomas (3.20) Caulfield Race 6 No.1 Sunset Watch (1.95) That's a tidy 28-1 right there. Best Bet Strike Rate 44: 20 - 9 - 2
  25. Ping Hai Star is going to be hard to beat but 'Time Warp' is a proven Group 1 performer & the Japanese runner 'Al Ain' could be thereabouts as well. And who knows with 'Pakistan Star'? All 3 big races have a number of top performers engaged.
