Haha! I'd take that return anytime Gorg ... close enough to a $5k profit per annum. But most punters are behind if the truth be known And that sort of return pays for 2 week's holiday within Australia ... if one knows how to find the best deal's (who wants to travel overseas anymore anyway? haha) It's how I generally go about betting on a Saturday ... a series of small bets to win moderate amounts with a couple of spec bets to win big. For instance, I'm using a few bonus bets at the Donald races today And any bonus bets, matched deposits & boost's all contribute towards a possible profit So an interest becomes a hobby which then can become a profitable exercise, however ... #AlwaysGambleResponsibly

Same here but once the favourite was scratched Allibor's chances of winning increased a lot. I originally managed to get 15-1 boosted but ended up getting 15-2 after deductions! Still decent odds considering Allibor was a virtual moral to get into the finish even with Aysar running

Had a good day thanks to Gator ... tipped me into 5 winners all at each-way odds (or thereabouts) When he is on he's close to spot on. For those who are interested, Gator's tips are freely available through best bets & racing.com

You could have compared Pukovski to the thousands of young stars across a myriad of sports who have made it in the big time but you chose to drag out Graham Hick. haha Brighten up a bit DJ, Pukovski is a rare talent who I not only admire for his talents, but more so being able to be honest about his own health He passed up a chance to play for Australia at the time as well Kudos to the bloke I say

Very good point about the end of the prep's versus the fresher horses. Always that way at this Sandown meeting Anyway, got Anamoe up in the first with Ollie on board (double winnings too) so I'm close to playing with house money for the rest of the day JV! Good luck to all today!

Excellent card at Sandown tomorrow with some real value about Avilius ($4) the class runner in the Zipping Classic and Gator likes Allibor ($12) in the Guineas at good odds. The $1Million Hunter up at Newcastle is a wide-open betting race. Ranier is the $6 favourite but Trumbull ($7) & Fiesta ($8) have real claims

Cameron Green highlights (looks ready made with both bat & ball ... a real talent) Will Pukovski (got all the shots & temperament) Michael Neser (an ideal 3rd seamer?) Mitchell Swepson (awaits an opportunity behind Lyon) Australia's 17-man Test squad: David Warner, Will Pucovski, Joe Burns, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Matthew Wade, Cameron Green, Tim Paine (capt), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, James Pattinson, Michael Neser, Mitchell Swepson, Sean Abbott.

@layzie @Gorgoroth @DemonDave @Dr. Gonzo @JV7 @Dappa Dan @titan_uranus @DeeSpencer @Clintosaurus @Dee Zephyr @Go the Biff A few moves made in the comp with titan & Clint the now outright leaders as we approach Chiquita Lodge ... we play for 1 point this week with only a couple of standout road team chances. Good luck all p.s. It looks like they're just going to play through the season despite the virus being widespread over there. If a team gets hit hard with COVID-19, it's front up and play Leaderboard - Tipping Comp 8 - Clintosaurus, titan_uranus 6 - Go the Biff, DemonDave, DeeSpencer, Gorgoroth, Macca 5 - JV7 4 - Dee Zephyr 3 - layzie 1 - Dr. Gonzo

Once the Spring carnival is done we usually have a spell from the Best Bets until the Autumn But there's still plenty of great racing inbetween including the big Sandown meeting next Saturday and then the Ballarat Cup meeting the following Saturday Then the Ascot Group 1 racing from W.A, Summer carnival from QLD and the racing out of Melbourne & Sydney still attracts good fields because of the prizemoney (which includes the $1Million 'Hunter' at Newcastle next Saturday & the $1Million 'Gong' at Kembla Grange the following Saturday) And the Magic Millions in early January gets my attention as well. I'll still be here posting up the odd preview and replay and if you've got any tips, post 'em up!

Here are 5 replay highlights from today's games ... the good thing about these clips is the scoreline isn't shown. But to watch the clips you'll be taken to youtube Condensed into a 13-15 minute package, they are very handy if you're too busy to watch whole games. When I've got time I'll post them up As for those relying on the Pats to win in order to secure a vital 2 points in the tipping comp, they couldn't possibly lose to the Jets tomorrow could they? ?

I reckon it's a time thing Deanox rather than Green himself. He may not be all that suitable but then again he might be ideal And they all need to work together But over a 5-15 year period we might have any number of board members with real football nous serve on the board Then we might be able to make a judgement Not really an immediate solution but these things take time. But we do need to see a swing away from those who aren't blessed with an abundance of football nous Not in totality but a nice mix

And us supporters are often stuck with whatever board we're presented with The way it's structured really only allows for a takeover by a group or an agreed change over (or suchlike) Individuals haven't really got much of a hope unless they're connected in some way. As previously stated, 1 or 2 stand down every now and again replaced by other like-minded types (IMO) The merger time brought a change with Gutnick/Dixon etc but that was special circumstances driven. The Stynes ticket was another but that had it's problems as well Others might know of other instances but I should make mention again that individually, the Board members often will have terrific non-football credentials. That's what makes it so difficult to judge because from a financial point of view, we're not badly placed right now or at other times in the past But the supporters just want to win and win big. Most don't really care about the financials I do but I want to see the club do exceptionally well in all areas

Ha ha! I will no longer use that phrase ds! Whilst your here, I could point at any number of Board blunders over the years including appointing a person like Neeld, extending Goodwin's contract, letting Northey go, sacking a great football person like Balme etc etc etc And it's not Goodwin's fault that he ended up with a long, seemingly water tight contract. We gave it to him. But I wouldn't be sacking Goodwin anyway. He might be part of the problem but he isn't 'the' problem Someone like Mahoney has been there for 13 years overseeing one finals appearance. Nice work if you can get it! So we pull the trigger early and then don't pull the trigger when we should do

From what I've read Smith was in conflict with the board on a fairly constant basis. He, Cardwell & Ivor Warne-Smith were the guts of the operation and that's why we were successful. Board ... coat-tails? Do you really believe they did the right thing by sacking the bloke? Didn't seem to achieve much as we've been mostly abysmal ever since. And since the sacking we've been a club that has been mostly in the wilderness. No silverware and not even close. Surely that is board related The fish rots at the head As someone else said here recently, since our success we've acted like amateurs in a professional environment. We still don't have much of a home base and have to share facilities whilst nearly all the other clubs have progressed in leaps & bounds And I've been pointing the finger at our various boards for decades. Others often prefer to blame the A-End of the problem Sack the coach and all that

With the NFL season not providing all that many upsets as opposed to previous seasons, the NFL multi can be a winner Home teams winning half-time/full-time is my preferred option. 4 or 5 pick to get the odds up Tomorrow I like Washington, Kansas City & Minnesota as stand-outs
-
That didn't end well! You did ask! My strike rate overseas is about 1 in 3 ... 2 out 3 nights there's zero collects and the other I'll do well or very well Now, if I only knew which 2 nights to disregard I'd be home free JV!

From my point of view it isn't all Trump fans who are rednecks & racists. Far from it. But that element can be a bit loud about their views Equally (with regards to your post and 'Better's post that followed) you've both disassociated yourselves from those narrow-minded views. Which is a good thing Same as I'm happy to associate myself with of l ower company taxes for big business and real tax breaks for small business. The left don't necessarly share those particular views and I often wonder why The infrastructure, job opportunities, building works, wealth and vibrant economies emanating from well run businesses can benefit all. And the Right side of politics recognises all that. As did Trump. And many Democrats To me the problem is the far left & the alt-right And winning is one thing but governance is an entirely different matter. Bit like the MFC and the people in positions of responsibilty. As individuals, do they pass the test and excel? What about the various Board's we've had? You are right though, the brush from some tars all. And that's wrong. Clearly wrong As for the voting percentages, it's proportional Dante. The same high figures applied to the Senate & House seats. The numbers were through the roof but Trump's numbers might have been down 2% or so from the House & Senate Republican numbers. And that's all it takes. Add that 2% in and he wins again. I stand corrected on the actual numbers but that's the opinion coming from some news outlets in the States

And then when you add in the 10% rule of thumb, there's your answer. Batting above the average in some ways For those not knowing what the 10% rule of thumb is, ask anyone in law enforcement

Football nous? Another more important question is what do the other board members bring in terms of football nous? Financially we seem to be doing reasonably well (largely on the back of pokies/NT income) but the core business is winning and winning premierships On that front our various boards have failed spectacularly. Even during the successful Smith era we had problems at board level. Smith fought with them on a regular basis and then they sacked him In an ideal world we'd have a few on the board with 'Real' football nous coupled with business expertise (or other such qualities)
-
Their collective track record over the last 5 or 6 decades says otherwise (in terms of the football side of things) I'd more call their record abysmal. Norm Smith argued with them constantly yet despite not being supported in the way that he should have been, he won (a lot) And we usually get the same type of board ... 1 or 2 stand down every now and again replaced by other like-minded types If you think our only issue is Goodwin you are sadly mistaken. Our problems often constantly run deep from Board level down. And how about the players themselves take a bit of responsibility (Freo, Swans) ... as soon as it gets tough they give up. The whole club needs a shake-up. All the Coaches, Admin & Board. And the playing list Change the coach and the same problems stay. In fact, that's what we do. We keep sacking coaches expecting things to change Goodwin may not be the world's greatest coach but he can't hold their hands
-
No it's not ... as previously stated, not all people from any demographic think and act in the same way. So you are going to get different outcomes. People like you seem to think that certain 'groups' should all think, act (and vote) in the same way In fact, I'd argue that most people think differently to each other As an example not all non-college-educated blue-collar white American men would vote for a racist like Trump. In fact approximately 40% of that demographic don't vote for Trump But that won't stop some people pointing the finger at that group and labeling them all as racists. And they'd be wrong but both sides get it wrong Anyway, Trump lost so swallow the bitter pill. The white Supremacist is no more (not in the same anyway) If that makes you sad have a good weep Biden wouldn't have been my choice as a candidate but he'll endeavour to at least unite the USA as a starting point Trump is just a divisive figure. At no stage did he ever try and govern for all Americans. Much like many of his madcap supporters, he was only interested in winning The Karma bus has arrived at his doorstep .
