And here's the replay of the Winterbottom Stakes followed by last weekend's Railway Stakes
-
I'll go with that Gorg ... excellent each-way value. A little disappointed with the support card for such a terrific event (The Jericho) but hopefully over time that will be addressed Anyway, a full field of 14 (with the 4 emergencies scratched) augers well for the concept
-
Did the same and 'Elite Street' has definitely got a future too. Scooted around them with a real turn of foot Another W.A. horse that could end up over in the Eastern States. Lightly raced but has real speed against the clock. It wasn't a great field but it still beat a very good horse in Trekking home Dare I say it ... an ADATR Blackbooker Winners are grinners!! haha

Fantastic! Bonus bucks in the off season! Hope you got a nice collect (as I did) It drifted right out in the betting but I'm not complaining. Thought 20-1 was overs

Good work Gorg Money back today but I'm playing with some bonus bets overnight (Del Mar) & tomorrow (Sha Tin) Go 'Elite Street'!

James Frawley Retires... And Starts Playing Again
Macca replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
More so perpetually on the move In a red phone box -
Ha ha! I live for Saturday racing ... can't get enough of it. Used to be the footy but we don't play all that much on a Saturday arvo these days And I no longer play cricket so it's all about the horses on a Saturday now

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM WEIDEMAN
Macca replied to xman97's topic in Melbourne Demons
Our forward line is often too crowded anyway ... mostly due to the other clubs flooding back knowing that our forwards often not adhering to the basics (not playing in front, not leading to the right spots, not enough defensive pressure, 2nd & 3rds efforts poor, not playing as a team within a team etc etc) Plus, our forwards give the ball back to the opposition by missing easy shots for goal (yips, choking) Weideman is part of that forward line group so the blame needs to be shared equally As a collective, our forwards need to play a lot better and also, we need to move the ball quickly into the forward line (as we did in 2018) to give our forwards more of a chance before the forward line becomes too crowded. So it's more of a structure/system issue rather than any 1 particular player (Ben Brown should help as should Kozzie & LJ with a years experience under their belts) -
Have you blokes had a look at Winterbottom at Ascot today? (Race 9) I don't mind 'Elite Street' (#13) at the value (20-1) Trekking the obvious standout but a bit short for my liking

James Frawley Retires... And Starts Playing Again
Macca replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
And we did get Brayshaw in return ... feeding off Oliver delivering to a functioning forward line (as it was in 2018) he's an absolute beauty Played on a wing, a real waste. He doesn't have the legs for that position Gus could play for another 7-10 years but we need to use him properly to get the best out of him So Frawley leaving as he did was not a bad result (imv) -
James Frawley Retires... And Starts Playing Again
Macca replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
As for coming out of retirement Frawley might have got the tap on the shoulder at Hawthorn (they do that at the Hawks) So the Saints offer him a 1 year deal when he is still fighting fit ... what's the big deal? You're a long time retired -
James Frawley Retires... And Starts Playing Again
Macca replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Roos played Frawley in the forward line in the 2014 season and then didn't seem all that perturbed when Frawley explored free agency And there's a good chance that we'd got word that we were going to be compensated well with his loss (turned out to be pick 3 which we used to claim Brayshaw) I saw it all as win/win And just because we draft a player doesn't necessarily mean we own that player. These days, a player gets to make choices as well -

@layzie @Gorgoroth @DemonDave @Dr. Gonzo @JV7 @Dappa Dan @titan_uranus @DeeSpencer @Clintosaurus @Dee Zephyr @Go the Biff Apologies for the late posting this week ... I blame the government! We now have a sole leader in the tipping comp - former winner Clintosaurus The question is, can we catch him? Just the 1 point on offer this week but a total of 11 points are still available for the remainder of the regular season (week 16 is now worth 2 points) Leaderboard - Tipping Comp 10 - Clintosaurus, 8 - titan_uranus 6 - Go the Biff, DemonDave, DeeSpencer, Gorgoroth, Macca 5 - JV7 4 - Dee Zephyr 3 - layzie 1 - Dr. Gonzo n,.b The Steelers/Ravens is now to be played on Sunday

Good As for the rest of it, let's agree to disagree

That racism is often disguised? It is, especially on the internet. Footballers are often vilified by anonymous figures online and we've had numerous threads about the subject matter on the footy boards here. And it will happen again and I will be making comment ... hopefully you do the same My views on racism are very real and reflect the truth Extreme racists put hoods over their heads to disguise their identity What did you think about the online vilification of Harley Bennell in July? The perpetrators were online & anonymous

The club needs any number of good people working well in their positions and then working well together So it isn't just the coach It's the Board, the CEO, the GM, the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach (Mentor, Right hand man) The Chief Recruiter (and his assistants), the List Manager & Player welfare personnel The Line Coaches, Midfield, Forward, Clearance & Stoppages Coaches, Skills coaching, the Captain and the list of players A good list of players too (all desperate for success) Good culture is of paramount importance as well Put it all together and success should come our way. But in the end if you haven't got enough talent you won't win
-
I see the list as being capable of finishing anywhere from 12th to 6th. There are so many variables that it's near impossible to accurately predict where we'll end up 6th might mean a great run with injuries and a functioning forward line with Brown and one other KF firing. Also performing well when we're supposed to. A reasonable ask And as for 12th, most of you know the drill But I can't see top 4 unless we make a quantum leap I believe we're 5 or 6 good/top players short of being a consistent top 4 side (taking into account injuries, coaching and mixed form) Not doomsday as we can play finals but we're not a threat. We are a work in progress I watched all the finals and we've got a bit to overcome to reach top 4 level
-
No prior has also been talked about but that could create other issues such as who would want to take possession of the ball? To my mind the game would be so much easier to umpire if there was less congestion And that's the other issue with congestion - there is so much going on in and around the ball that those viewing get increasingly frustrated But again, we're getting conditioned with the congestion to a point where many don't mind it at all. The lower scores sees less blowouts which keeps the viewers watching. Maybe that's why they aren't taking drastic action to opening the game up. And there's a lot they could do but the changes seem cosmetic to me. For a reason LDvC?

So you labelled me a leftie years ago and I'm now labelling you an alt-right 'type' 4 years late See that's the way you alt-right types work ... it's all confrontational but you screech like banshees when it comes back at you. Bit soft Do you even understand what hypocrisy is?
