Tokyo Olympics 2021
Olyroos did well to hang on for so long against Spain. Conceded late but 3 of our players have now been ruled out of the match against Egypt after receiving yellow cards Win against Egypt and we advance but draw and we may miss Although I'm not sure whether Argentina will hold out against Spain ... bit of a class difference as I see it And Harry Garside has advanced to the last 16 in the boxing (Lightweight division) He looked alright too, winning all 3 rounds. A southpaw with a bit of style Edit: Had a look at Harry Garside's profile and he won gold at the 2018 Commonwealth games and lists his hero as Jim Stynes ( Harry has done a bit of volunteer work for the Reach foundation) Can we assume that Harry is a Demon supporter?

Tokyo Olympics 2021
I watched a reasonable amount of Ash's match and she wasn't on her game today So the surprises can work both ways as I had Ash as at least making the semi's ... but the Hockeyroos are off to a great start and our rowers are well placed. Beach Volleyball as well but the softballers had a close loss There are going to be some ups and downs ... bit of a rollercoaster really

Elijah was disappointing and Mack Horton looking on might have fancied his chances Still, we weren't the raging favourite to take out the event so Jack taking out the silver is a mighty effort Not sure we are going to have it all our way in the 4 x 100m freestlyle relay (womens) ... should win but we've got some tough opposition who may not have shown their hand

We had our chances but Sweden were the superior team ... I can see them winning the gold medal as they are very talented. Sam Kerr had a terrific game. That thunderbolt from Rolfe for them was amazing The top 2 from our group go through plus the 2 best 3rd placegetters out of the 7 groups. Next up is the USA and we might have to win the game to advance if the Americans are ahead on goal difference prior to the game starting (USA leads NZ 2-0 at half time)

Tokyo Olympics 2021
Yes TD but the Opening Ceremony had its moments. A tad subdued but that's what I was expecting (all things considered) To me the highlights were the Global Drones combination, Hiromi's virtuoso performance, Lennons 'Imagine' well performed by various artists, the figurine forms representing the various sports and the lighting of the cauldron Compared to other Opening Ceremonies, it pailed, but circumstances did govern (no crowd interaction etc) The number of athletes represented was way down but that's quite understandable as well Tough one to grab the attention and they were probably never going to able to make the whole thing a memorable event (again, all things considered)

There are any number of notable's competing including the Tour de France winner Tadej Pogacar

Yeah TD, as you're no doubt aware, it's really difficult to keep up with everything once the Opening Ceremony is over and done with That's one of the reasons why I at least mark down when all the team events involving the Aussies are on. But the track & field and swimming tops the list in terms of must-watch Watched both the Matilda's & Olyroos games in their entirety and thoroughly enjoyed them both. No crowds wasn't a big deal either With the Olympics, we really are concentrating on the athletes primarily. The crowd involvement is often noticed more once the event is finished. As opposed to say footy where the crowd is involved in the game Anyway, the Olyroos will be the talk of the town tomorrow. That's a big scalp!

Tokyo Olympics 2021
Does it really matter in the whole scheme of things ... happens every other day in a myriad of other sports There's thousands of athletes in Tokyo ... there are going to be indiscretions and numerous Covid positives ... as there is in numerous other sports Footy is a great example ... they are trying to outrun Covid and the fixture has been hopelessly compromised. Issues everywhere with isolation & quarantining. Yet the show goes on The Olympics has been held up as the scapegoat for Covid ... all the other sports are spreading Covid everywhere (esp in the USA & soccer) Where's the consistent argument TD?

Watched a bit on the app and we did have a few chances to score including a bases loaded situation Was always going to be a test against Japan who are not only very good, but they have a proper professional league Still, it's all about making the semi's (if that's how it works?) and then anything can happen Thanks for the updates TD ... keep it up if you can!
