  1. As TD mentioned above, the Opals battle hard but we lack star power and difference-makers. Even so, we're going to need a couple of results going our way just to advance and then win our remaining game by 30+ points against Puerto Rico (which is do-able as Puerto Rico have been thrashed in their first 2 games) If everything falls into place we can advance but it's what happens from there which remains problematical
  2. From an overall perspective (re the teams) we are still well in the hunt with the Matilda's, Kookaburra's, Hockeyroos, Boomers, the Women's Water Polo team & the Women's Beach Volleyball team. The Men's Water Polo team are still alive but it's tough to win a medal against the Eastern European Nations And the Equestrian team in the 3 day event are often in the running for a medal of any colour Opals need to get a win on the board against China tonight to be in the mix 2 gold out of all that as a conservative prediction? Has to be at least 1 gold but 3 gold would be an excellent outcome
  3. A remarkable win and a fabulous contest And a great spectacle Our Matilda's were magnificent TD and we are right in the hunt for Gold now as the Brits were highly rated Matilda's 4 Great Britain 3

  6. Wow! That is a surprise We are currently 2nd in the Men's 470 but the details on some of the women's events are a bit sketchy ... we'll know more in a day or 2
  7. Fantastic! We're now up to 9 gold (we remain ahead of the count TD!) Magnificent win by Emma McKeon and Cate Campbell swum her heart out (again) Another great start to the day! Gold!!! (And Bronze!!)
  8. Best Bet Moonee Valley (Sat) R4 #5 Bedford $5.50 (Win)
  9. Yeah we've got 8 gold in 6 full days of competition but as we know, once the swimming is over and done with, gold medals are harder to come by. Be nice if we could keep up that sort of strike rate though TD! One gold tomorrow would satisfy Track Cycling, Sailing, all the team events, Equestrian and maybe the Tennis & Athletics remain our best chances Hockeyroos are making hard work of it against these plucky Kiwi's!

  12. Tough group we're in but hopefully we're able to eke out a win or 2 to advance Heard today that the Serbians are all fully professional ... doesn't surprise me as Water Polo is huge in the Eastern European Countries Where as our blokes are strictly part time and all have full time jobs!

  14. 2 More Gold Medals For Australia Izaac Stubblety-Cook 200m Breaststroke Champion Jessica Fox C1 Canoe Slalom Champion
  15. Jess Fox magnificent! So many variables in this sport where not everything is in the athlete's control So the athletes have to fight against bad luck as well. The field contained any number of world champions & Olympic medalists too A worthy winner!
  16. Yeah, Ariarna being saved for the 800m? She's got to be feeling the pinch but to win the triple would be some sort of achievement Wasn't all that fast on the opening leg by the audio call. She'd be in the red zone so I get that the coaches don't want to burn her But as you said, we still broke the world record and were simply beaten by 2 better teams on the day. No shame in that
  17. Swam half a second faster than Rio as well as revovering from having major shoulder surgery Beaten by a good type too ... silver a big plus in some ways Well done Kyle!
  18. Gold! Zac! Fantastic!
