  1. Here's my attempt: The person responsible for looking beyond the week-to-week noise and setting the long-term direction of the club. Think of them as the architect of the big picture: Planning & Direction: They help define what success looks like in 3–5 years, not just next Saturday. Alignment: They make sure recruiting, coaching, high-performance, and commercial decisions are all pulling in the same direction. Analysis & Foresight: They track trends (list profile, rule changes, competitor tactics) and feed insights back into the football department. Decision Support: They don’t pick the team, but they provide the framework that guides why certain players are drafted, developed, or traded. Connector Role: Strategy managers act as translators between the board, the CEO, the coach, and the football staff. They turn corporate goals (“sustainable success,” “member growth”) into football decisions. Scenario Planning: They ask “what if?” — e.g. what if our list peaks in 2026, what if the fixture compresses, what if AFLW expands? Performance Review Lens: They often run the frameworks that review coaching staff and list management, making sure decisions aren’t just knee-[censored]. In footy terms, if the coach is in the trenches, the strategy manager is up in the coach’s box with the binoculars, making sure the whole operation is headed the right way.
  2. I understand the Dees inadvertently and unintentionally played a role.
  3. BTW - what makes people so sure King will have carte blanche to bring in his mates. I doubt this very much.
  4. I should hope not.
  5. Same here - 'special projects' for me.
  6. Might be exactly the type of person a few of our blokes need then.
  7. Of course he does.
  8. What are the other four nominees?
  9. I would say it is better because expectations are low and he gets $7M for just turning up to work. Handy gig I reckon.
  10. A perfect fit for the Deez. Get Mazie and Milky to referee the stoush at training. Charge $50 entry fee and we've covered Goody's '26 salary.
  11. You think? This is Demonland. The sacred charter here is to endlessly re-litigate every missed coach, failed draft pick, and half-baked rumour until the heat death of the universe. Norm Smith, Tilbrook, Tempo right through to Neeld, Schwab, Buckley. Doesn’t matter, they all live rent-free here forever. The day we stop obsessing over blokes who did or didn’t get the job is the day Andy shuts down the site and we all have to pretend to be normal people again. This discussion has at least another 60 years left in it.

  16. 26 games since he arrived last year, 35 goals, 66 percent game time, 3.7 percent score involvements. His stats are similar Pickett's. Makes him pretty integral in my view.
  17. Another AFL own goal.
  18. His dyed mo is a slight worry, but get him for his name if nothing else.
  19. Their rise up the ladder coincided with the arrival of Dear.
