  1. I don't think the media will bother sinking the boot into us any more.Whats the point????everyone knows we are a joke. We are completely irrelevant and even GWS and GCS wouldn't fear us anymore.we don't even deserve to be talked about in any capacity
  2. Please lets not calm down. Heads need to roll after losing to an interstate side at the g by 80 points that last year noone wanted to coach and everyone thought were the ultimate basket case on field and off field. When Port lost to GWS and primus lost his job I laughed and said o well at least we'll never hit as rock bottom as port. We lost to them by 80 points today ffs. God this club makes me angry

    Hirdy

Nasher The thread is supposed to be about James Hird being a down to earth bloke who despite all he has been through can still have a chinwag and a joke with a couple of opposition supporters on the way home from a game. Please don't turn it into yet another stupid dogfight

I'm sure he'll watch a replay but yes you would have thought he'd be there to watch it in the flesh

Thought a few might find this an interesting story. As i was walking away from the game today ran into James Hird walking his dog along Alexandra avenue opposite the botanical gardens. He actually asked us how we went and wanted some thoughts on the match. Found him to be really approachable and easy going which was quite refreshing and different from how he is portrayed in the media. We had a good chat for about 3-4 minutes as we walked along and he asked about Sylvia watts Clark jones and how port looked under Ken Hinkley. Also wasn't afraid to poke a bit of fun at the bombers when he said "at least you've got your bunnies next week must be a certain win for you guys". I thought it was great that someone who has been under so much scrutiny can just relax and have a bit of fun with a couple of supporters from another club on the way home from the footy.Full credit to Jim.
  6. This football club is officially a joke. We are absolutely dissolving into irrelevancy, actually no we already are completely irrelevant. I just hope the players and coaches are bleeding and hurting as much as the supporters. Words just can't describe what a rabble we are!
  7. Joke. No explanation. Not like he actually played on anyone.
  8. Terrible terrible news not just for PAFC but the entire football community. Thoughts are with the players family friends and teammates. RIP
  9. Range rover isn't the worst on here by any stretch. Someone else who's initials also happen to be RR absolutely does my head in with his stupid posts and his whining and moaning about every little thing posted that's slightly controversial or hard on someone. The day he pisses off the better we'll all be.
  10. This really is an issue and a half isnt it. Lets set out our ground rules then to see if theres some consensus. Mine is simply no racism and people who continue to go on and on (toan extent that a reasonable average joe football supporter would say is over the top and very excessive) are given a polite warning. Surely we cant start banning certain words can we?? that is exactly why these new rules that allow cops to give on the spot fines for swearing are utterly ridiculous.... So for example is the c word and f word worst than [censored], d1ckhead, [censored], [censored]?? Will i get away with some and not others?? What if the word is said in another language?? How is their any proof in the courts (if someone was to appeal) that a word was said Does it matter whether its directed at someone or internal? Does it matter whether it was uttered under someones breath or yelled. Seriously we all need to harden up a little bit and stop making our society and our great game so soft
  11. youve got to be joking??shouldnt the people that take offence to such petty behaviour be the ones who need to harden up??They cant deal with a few words that arent even directed at them anyway?? If the AFL are serious about stamping out swearing the first thing they should do is have a look at the standard of umpiring. Its hard for people not to get frustrated when they are so pedantic about every little thing!
  12. also hope they remember he got his nomination last year against carlscum
  13. Finally some common sense from the AFL. Still cant believe that guys like heppell, conca and steven get nominated before guys like gysberts, tapscott, liberatore and wallace.
  14. Totally agree juzzk1d. You should be able to let your passion come out at the footy.Obviously racial abuse should have a zero tolerance approach but anything else is fair game and a part of footy. We shouldnt be getting involved in little [censored] for tat crap where certain words get banned etc. The rule should simply be no racism. If you dont like it then go follow netball or tiddlywinks or something else.
  15. The last thing we want here is little [censored] for tat arguments like preppy kids have in the schoolyard. The footy shouldn't be a sacred place.A mate and I were having a chat about this a few weeks ago as we quite often get asked to watch our language and it becomes increasingly frustrating when it's usually something extremely petty( like saying bullish!t under our breaths about a bad umpiring decision). If this is such a big issue why can't they have family friendly areas at the footy where this can be monitored??
  16. I was watching footy classified tonight and im very interested about this issue of crowd behaviour that has popped up for discussion. Seriously we need to get a life. Suggesting that people should be warned and even ejected from games for swearing and abuse is absolutely ludicrous. 1. Football is a tribal game and always has been- get used to it. 2. People should be able to go to the footy, have a pie and a beer and vent their spleen (it is a release of pressure and stress from the week) 3. People are passionate about their teams and will say things on the spur of the movement (why does everything have to be taken so literally) 4. Swearing is (whether its right or wrong) just a part of life- you will hear it in general conversations, in movies and songs, in the workplace, amongst mates etc etc. How much can words hurt at a footy match 5. -How do they police it??? - How is anything proven?? If i dont like an opposition supporter near me can i just report them for abuse and get them kicked out?? - There will be serious inconsistencies as some people wont report it and some will (it could be luck of the draw as to whether you get ejected) I honestly think that making a big deal of this is a joke. I can understand why racism should not be tolerated in any way shape or form but anything else should be accepted at the footy. It always has been part of the culture, it has happened for years and people should be able to go with their mates and enjoy the game without having to think every single time before they open their mouths. If certain people wish to be immune from it they should purposely go and sit in deserted areas of the stadium, in a corporate box or watch the game on T.V. Geez people are becoming seriously soft these days huh??
  17. He'll be right and ready to go... put the house on it
  18. Yeah why is that mate???why was my contention that petterd shouldnt have been dropped in the 1st place the most wrong post of the year?? Dont rubbish other peoples opinions when youre not prepared to back it up..... you will lose any credibility you may have very quickly
  19. i dont think the darc is too bad to be honest. Some of his comments are very insightful and hes prepared to stand up for his beliefs. There are a lot worst. Just for interests sake ive put together a list of likes and dislikes. Like: Bruce McAvaney, Dennis Commetti, Matthew Richardson, Tim Watson, Luke Darcy, Steven Quartermain, Michael Christian, Anthony Hudson, Brian Taylor, Gerard Healy, Tony Shaw, Liam Pickering,Danny Frawley, Glen Jakovich Dislike: Leigh Matthews, Tom Harley, Dwayne Russell, Malcolm Blight, Robert Walls, Kelly Underwood, Tim Gossage
  20. Sorry mate i was unaware that Campbell was a rookie and unable to play unless we put someone on the long term injury list. Thats a little dissapointing actually as surely a no 1 ruckman in a premiership side from only 3 years ago would be handy now with Jamar out and Big Maxy probably still not quite ready for AFL. Thank goodness for Stef ey? Im happy to concede that Petterd hasnt been as good as i expected he would be this year but in all honesty has he really been that bad: Round 1- played a quarter against the swans after coming on as the sub and had a really big impact with his strong marking and assist work. Round 2- was dissapointing against the hawks but had limited preparation coming in and certainly wasnt the worst on the day. Round 7- came back into the side and played a blinder on Johncock. Shut him out and had 15 disposals 4 tackles and 4 goals. Round 8- had 13 disposals, 2 goals and 3 tackles and again wasnt the worst. Round 9- 12 disposals and a goal against the Saints with very very limited opportunities. Round 10- Concede that he was dissapointing In between all that his form in the VFL has been outstanding and he was brilliant last year before being injured. If ive learnt anything so far this year its to not write players off too early. I did that earlier in the year with Stefan Martin, Jonesy and Wattsy and look what a di..head i look like now. I couldnt have been more wrong about all 3 of them. Ricky will come good. Lets get him back in the side!!
  21. Been a big improver this year thats for sure. His games against the Saints and the Dons were a big step in the right direction and i hope he can continue to play good solid footy. Can definitely see him becoming an important player to our structures and ive really noticed his defensive forward pressure since he came back into the side. He certainly keeps his spot for now. I also agree that he has more of an upside than Aussie
