I’m not saying we can’t win, just need a good start and everything to go right

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda
You can train all you want but nothing compares to a game of footy for building match hardened fitness. The interrupted PS game vs Richmond hasn’t helped

NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round
Are you watching the telecast Jason Dunstall, Leigh Matthew’s and Nathan Buckley singing his praises, they may know a bit about the game. The kid changes the game with his ball use, it’s not just cheap disposals he gets without impacting the game. He sets up transition chains from D50 then gut runs to get involved multiple times in transition chains.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
I don’t think we lost anything with Oliver, we’ve seen his best and got the best out of him, I believe our list is better balanced with the players we now have going through the middle. But I will say again Oliver played the inside role well and did his job. Trac looked back to his best but that doesn’t surprise me with his professional approach to getting the best out of himself, although as good as his kicking was he was under very little pressure when he had ball in hand

Are 3KZ and Picket Fence the same person, very similar outlooks on the game

Farewell Clayton Oliver
I understand all the stuff regarding leg drive from stoppages and how the game has gone to more of a transition game, but do not consider Oliver’s game to be like Mitchell. Oliver won a lot of contested footy and fed it off, there wasn’t much cheap around the back of stoppage possessions. The run from halfback and regular handball receive the Giants went with suited Oliver yesterday. I had Callahan down amongst the best and both Stringer and Fonti had impact, but we see things differently overall

Farewell Clayton Oliver
I disagree Daz, I reckon he was very important inside and unlike us of the last few years the Giants have plenty of outside power runners who fed off him. Just MO

Farewell Clayton Oliver
He was good and was BOG, he was clean and made good decisions with ball in hand, he may not have been as dynamic as Trac was last night but plenty of contested possessions and set them up. Fonti and Callahan also good bu Clayton was BOG

Most of us do, especially those who understand the bigger picture

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda
He may OD, but I believe he’s Gawns long term replacement
-
Farewell Christian Petracca
He was in competition top 5 form when he went down in 2024.

Farewell Christian Petracca
Good luck to him, he’s a professional and I’m not surprised. We got 3 good picks and it can be a win win, which may take some time to come to fruition from our end

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda
I see him competing against Kentfield and JVR, TBH I don’t think we go to tall for most of the season I think it will be 2 tall forwards and Fritsch. Although there will be games where we go with 3 and that is probably when he may come in. But that decision comes down IMO to how Kentfield is going as the back up ruck if he’s going well I think Jeffo comes in if he’s going well. But a few ifs in all that

There’s the rubber stamp we need to convince anyone the kid can play

Really hope so, I despise them

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Take note of your post there’s one obvious deekhead (your own words) throughout this entire thread. You really need to either stop watching footy or seek professional help. I’m not sure whether you’re clueless or delusional

Farewell Clayton Oliver
In fairness that said poster has a history of blaming all and sundry for players performance on and off field. It’s never the player in that posters eyes

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Loved him for what he was able to do and produce. Was slightly aware of some issues but the last few years have exposed how deeply those issues were entrenched. Every time he speaks he makes the decision to move him on as the correct one. Clayton isn’t the only one with his head in the sand a few on this thread have their heads deeply in the sand and no doubt will post every half decent possession game he plays (never mind the possessions will not show a lack of 2 way run) For the life of me can’t understand how anyone can not understand the decision needed to be made and the lack of interest from other clubs highlights that

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda
Lee Adam’s, Blues mids coach was interviewed before tonight’s game and when asked why they went with 2 Rucks his response was They went with the 2 as their pre season form was hard to split Pittonet and Reidy and they went with both who they would use sparingly and try to work Grundy over. Adam’s further said they would see how it worked and review after the outcome. Sydney absolutely ran the Blues off their feet, which is why sides will go with 1 recognised ruck and a hybrid mobile tall to chop out. The speed of the game and repeat running required has changed the way teams will lineup

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda
Zakostelsky is not a ruck, played there at WAFL Colts level but not big enough to play the role permanently at AFL Level, well known amongst recruiters he will pinch it to give Fort a rest, Brisbane are using him as a pinch hitter and have been converting him to a key defender long term, great athlete same as Cody Curtin Maclean again a pinch hitter who is a forward With Gawn as #1 we will use a second mobile tall to pinch hit

The Bailey Humphrey Thread
Currently a good player who impacts games and about to become a very good player. Would be a good get to add to the first rounders we’ve picked up over the last few years. Good to see we’re putting it out there
