  1. Yes knees are going to have to be managed for the remainder of his career. Not great for a KPP would IMO only be worth a short contract at the right price with potential to roll over yearly if he was like Shaun Burgoyne

Not to mention clubs now have to pay much higher draft pick capital for FS then the Cats paid for Scarlet, Ablett and Hawkins. Without the FS the way it was back then the Cats would not have been able to take all of them

When were we dominant apart from the first 10 rounds of 2022. 2023 we looked to have timed everything right in the backend and put a good run of games together with a key ingredient of settled side an minimal change, heading into September. Then unfortunately came the double forward line blow of Petty and Melksham. We were never near the dominant dynasties of the Cats of 2007-12 or the Hawks of 2011-15. Cats made prelim in 2004 and were minutes away from another prelim in 05 before divine intervention in the form of Nick Davis. 2006 they were at crisis point missing the 8 yet backed their coach. They won a flag had 8 All Australians , walked away with numerous individual awards that year and their dynasty was built off the back of good fortune with father sons and nailing 2 drafts to net - Scarlett, Corey, Ablett, Enright, Johnson, Chapman, Ling, Kelly, Bartel, Hawkins Hawks won one early in 2008 then regressed before making 5 prelims and winning three in a row, striking at the right time with Suns and GWS coming in preventing teams from topping up on top end talent in bulk and with players coming into their prime who had been selected off the back of nailing 2 drafts to net - Hodge, Mitchell, Brown, Roughead, Franklin and Lewis. The only similarity we have is making a prelim in 2018 and regressing for two seasons but we never had draft halls to match those two. Trac, Oliver and Brayshaw very good players and Viney FS hard as a cats head and what every club needs. Our greatest error was not absolutely nailing the picks between 2007-9 which would have seen us set up for a long time and been able to ride out the impact of the expansion clubs

The recruitment process since 21/22 started bringing in better ball users and the addition of Windsor and Lindsay continues down the path with Mcvee. Jefferson has taken a little longer but you get that with talls and JVR once not needing to ruck will be better served high up the ground. I believe we’ve started the process to the new game style which will have fluctuations but I want the FD to hold their nerve and not throw the baby out with the bath water

That is fact and that’s from within PA footy department
  6. He doesn’t just not tackle, he doesn’t get any body contact or apply pressure, the GWS, Pies and Hawthorn forward lines all rely on pressure acts and winning the ground ball game. Greene, Daniels and Jones Schulz, Hill and Mcreery Watson, Moore, Hardwick and Ginnivan Fritsch wouldn’t last with his work ethic
  7. Really, how did GWS forward line function last year when Hogan didn’t fire. Kingsley would not put up with Fritsch refusal to apply second let alone third efforts at the fall of the ball
  8. Not from Rd 2 they don’t

Very good post, not compiled out of emotion. Heat will increase if things don’t improve but the biggest lesson I hope that is taken on, is to have faith in the change in style they are trying to implement
  10. Reckon we saw more last week in terms of stretching the ground and better delivery inside f50, today was a big step back to old habits of just bombing it in. Really lacked Windsor and his run in transition, large parts of that 3rd quarter where we transitioned quickly but turned it over or allowed them to get numbers back by handballing to ground or just not hitting the teammate in the open
  11. 6. Chandler 5. Oliver 4. Lindsay 3. Petty 2. Salem 1. struggling -Turner
  12. On occasion but Viney just bombs it instantly
  13. Yes we can compete, did you watch last week, did we compete yes. Gawn was BOG last week Losing and shocking performances happen. Seen it before and seen it turn.
  14. Petty had some poor moments in the last quarter but over the course of the game he was okay on Larkey
  15. Don’t think it was just the forward line today, yep they were poor but the bombing into F50 where they had the extra number was dumb, Gawn and the midfield overall got absolutely pantsed
  16. You actually need to have a look at yourself absolutely shizen post, but the way you carried on the game day thread should have picked this. Shocking loss yes absolutely unacceptable by the players but Sack the coach and Retire Gawn in Rd 2 FFS
  17. Midfield absolutely pantsed today, poor stoppage set up, need to honey pot then getting burnt in transition. Gawn well beaten Viney 3 times blazed into f50 straight down Combens throat, handballs not hitting targets, kicking over teammates in the open. If you want to be a laughing stock you sack the coach in Rd 2 Stay strong regroup and back your players, to turn the basics around
  18. Petty spent most of the day on Larkey
  19. Yes, that’s correct, didn’t think it was appropriate to name him
  20. Yes it was several times. we put the red and blue blinkers on and consider ourselves to be the victims. Do you remember Didaks indiscretion with the OMCG member after a night out, well a Dee’s player was also with them.
  21. It requires a lot of work Red and players having the confidence to hit the kick and teammates as soon as they identify they are open. Doubt and hesitation causes 50/50 contests and turnovers. Once teams get speed on the ball and the method is ingrained into the players the system works well and the team suddenly looks to have pace. Just want us to stick with the method and have faith as With Mcvee, Kossie and Windsor thrown into the mix I believe we can be very dangerous on the counter and with our ball movement to get 1 v1s inside our F50
  22. You must be new here, if you can find a positive post from Poita, you will be lucky
  23. JVR - Taylor no influence
  24. Don’t think so, has kids settled in school in Perth, his son will be in Yr 12 next year
  25. It doesn’t work that way anymore otherwise you isolate the poor match ups via leg speed or height/weight. Its why they defend to impact the next layer not just their direct opponent. Dont think this doesn’t happen several times during a game. Its just amplified in the last few minutes
