Welcome to Demonland: Ricky Mentha
He looks heavier than 66 kgs. Struggled big time in the running at the end of the session

2024 Preseason Training Thread
I’m down from Sydney and dropped into training with the family. It was good to meet Kev Martin and WCW for a bit of a chat. Overall it was a solid session with plenty of intensity in the match sims. In one of the exercises, players were practising their close-in congested work with keeping off before a long handball to an outside receiver who delivered i50 or had a shot on goal. In the group closest to us Chandler, Spargo, Petracca and Rivers shared the outside role with Chandler being the most consistent with delivering the ball to the leading players advantage. From the inside group I thought Brown showed a bit with good evasion and ball use. The others were a bit sloppy given the conditions. In match sims Petracca does some amazing things. In one highlight he sprinted 100m to cleanly gather a loose ball at pace then simultaneously putting out a fend off and pirouetted around a player before snapping a goal from 30m. It received some applause from the on lookers and trainers Others who were prominent in the match sims included Lever, May, Howes, Rivers, Fritsch, Roo and Salem. Chandler was also busy. Fullerton took a few strong grabs and showed a lot of promise. Tom MacDonald played forward and nearly took off Petraccas head when he took a fresh air swing at a loose ball. Of the new draftees Brown was my pick and got a bit of the ball. All 3 showed a lot of defensive work with some strong tacking in the sims. Brown brought down Gawn, Windsor had a great run down tackle on Howes (showed some speed) and Thulstrup tried to tackle everyone. After training the boys were happy to sign some autographs and Petracca gave my son his training hat that he was wearing which made his day. Aside from the weather it was great to watch footy in January.

AFLW Sign, Draft and Trade Period 2023-24
You are right, I just would have preferred to not give back the 2nd rounder which is still a valuable pick. Any thoughts want we would get if Gay gets traded? IMO she is a must keep. Fantastic player and kicked goals when she went forward this season.

AFLW Sign, Draft and Trade Period 2023-24
Not sure Bannan has the aggression for a key back role, I’m hoping she becomes a dominant winger next season. Harris could be a weapon in the back, particularly with her contested marking and long field kicks that would help with fast transition.

AFLW Sign, Draft and Trade Period 2023-24
Disappointing trade outcome however it is probably fair value given Birch’s best is behind her. If Wilson gets to the Suns, who is next in line for the 2nd tall?

Trading pick 6
I wonder if we consider trading to North for their 2023 p15 and 2024 1st? Cal has Darcy Wilson going to North with this selection. is Wilson + Norths 2024 1st > that Windsor?

Prediction Time
This or if WC trades pick 1 then 1 Reid 42 Simpson if no live trades 7 Curtin 13 Windsor

AFLW: QF vs North Melbourne
Im with Deespencer, Birch is having a shocker.

AFLW: QF vs North Melbourne
Need forwards to lift. North got luck of the bounce in the first half. Still think we will win however it is a concern to have a goalless half. I would like to see Harris play on ball to get the momentum back.

Trading pick 6
Yup, Curtin for me.
-
Trading pick 6
Curtin could become the best player of the draft so unless we get Reid, keep our picks and draft Curtin + best available midfielder at 11

AFLW VOTES: Rd 09 vs Fremantle
A fairly even performance across most the group. West Paxman Gillard Goldie Fitzsimon B Mackin

The 2023 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
If he is rated a top 3 talent we should draft him and back out program to keep him long term. He would be perfect for our backline with his long kicking especially if Rivers spends more time in midfield next year. For someone at KPP height he plays like a big bodied midfielder. Aka the Bont.

AFLW VOTES: Rd 07 vs West Coast
6 Bannon 5 Purcell 4 B Mackin 3 Hore 2 Zanker 1 Watt

Tom Hawkins
Can’t stand Hawkins and really hope this is not a possibility.
-
AFLW VOTES Rd 06 vs Adelaide
Zanker McNamara Goldie Gay B Mackin Purcell Anyone know why Birch is down on form? Has not played a good game all season.
-
Farewell Brodie Grundy
That’s unders, his value should have gone up given he is now injury free
-
Farewell Brodie Grundy
My preference would be to keep him unless the deal improves our list. Ie we need the $650k for a key forward that is available this trade period
-
2023 GRAND FINAL
Deliberate ducking into the high tackle. Pure cheating

AFLW VOTES: Rd 05 vs Geelong

-
AFLW VOTES: Rd 04 vs Hawthorn
Hanks Zanker Heath Pearce Purcell B Mackin

Goody - Genius or insane?
And didn’t he learn nothing last year about not playing anyone who wasn’t 100% fit. Take Grundy into this game and we may have had a different result
