  1. Makes sense that most players would be mentally preparing to appear on the footy show which would take focus away from their game preparation, so they'd play worse.
  2. Maybe they'll tweak that a little. Though I've always advocated Martin @ CHF, perhaps Martin & certainly Jamar would be more comfortable as big men around the square (& Sellar could come forward for a few minutes) leaving Clark CHF much of the day, where we've been weak forever. I doubt they'll do it this week, but Watts with his speed, skill & excellent delivery to the forwards, could be one of our best wingmen.
  3. Been listening to 5AA for 1/2 hour & not one mention of anything Melbourne. Not one player, the team, ...nothing. Has anyone told these announcers that they're the only radio station covering this game, therefor a high percentage of their audience will be Melbourne supporters? I'd phone them but am overseas. ....Oh, I take all that back, they just said "Melbourne's out on the ground!"
  4. I haven't been to Surfers since 1974, near when I moved to London, then to the US. I visit my family in Melbourne, but LA feels similar temp to Surfers, but drier & unfortunately more smoggy from what I remember then.Your Dion tune is blocked from playing in the US, but I've played "The Wanderer" many times
  5. G'day to you too & thanks for replying! LA's getting nice now, coming out of winter. A lot of pretty girls do come here, often for the entertainment business, but I've been faithfully married most of my time here.Apologies for my late reply, ...just now spotted your post so will adjust my preferences to know if someone quoted me in future
  6. Being overseas I only heard it on radio, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but they said we won just over 1/2 the contested possessions & it seemed the difference was that we then bombed it to another contested situation, whereas when they got possession they more often passed it to a favourable uncontested option thereby maintaining their possession. I've heard/read/seen nothing indicating that's not the plan under MN so far & I love his initial tough focus on winning contests, but really hope he introduces a phase 2 to his new style that involves all manner of passing to team mates, maintaining possession, providing & honouring leads etc.. ...better ball use once we win that contested situation. Cheers
  7. I'm curious whether anyone could record it & put it on YouTube so those of us overseas could check it out? Also I'm sure people who miss it would want to as well! Thanks
  8. IMHO Martin could learn to be a great CHF & Watts could be great @ HFF, wing or HBF, & if there's somewhere else he thinks he'd do well at, as Chook suggested, then try him there once. If none of those work, then back to the old drawing board at Casey for awhile
  9. I agree he's one of our top players. ..& wished a different substantial punishment was chosen. If we lose to Brisbane it might have bitten us a bit.
  10. I've used skype for about 5 years. It's a free, easy download to install. You get free skype to skype conversations, including video if you have camera & broadband & there's a fee for calling peoples telephones. I love it with friends & family at home since I moved to Los Angeles. You can make conference calls, but not sure how many will work at once. Cheers.
  11. Roost It, on 27 February 2012 - 10:12 PM, said: yeh a 197 cm midfieldar weighing 100kilo's........I think not........ Watts is 196cm 89kgs, very fast, skillfull, can pick a ball up quickly, He'll be fine in midfield, HFF or defence. He doesn't seem heavy enough to be a key position player, which isn't his fault.
  12. Spot on Macca. I've been thinking this for months. Who cares that he was recruited to be CHF? He's got speed, skill, some intelligence, can pick it up from the ground & handball away quickly, lets use that & have Watts @ HFF, wing, a little CHF or loose defender & use MARTIN or Sellar @ CHF, or Clark @ CHF when Jamar rests @ FF.
  13. I'd love to have heard Norm in the rooms like you did. Closest I got was behind them on the bench. Yes, the more Neeld (or anyone at the club) is like Norm, the better off I reckon we'll be Bobby. Hey, we've got the same name! Good luck to you.
  14. I of course have no clue, but agree with the above that it should remain Green, unless he doesn't really want the distraction again & Moloney's happy to do it for just a year or 2 rather than not at all. It's still a great honour & are you all sure Beamer wouldn't want it?
  15. Thanks Daz's Dees & DirtyDees! Great to get your impressions from training. I'm keen about his potential.
  16. Yea, I agree with you blokes 100%. I'm curious. When Daz's Dee's just wrote "Impressed me the most today," did he, or any of you see Sellar train? Does anyone know the word about his training so far?
  17. I was just a dumb kid Dees fan at the time, but it seemed Norm & his incredible dedication & unyielding attention to the job & infectious loyalty was the single biggest factor driving the Melbourne era. It's been an inspiration through my life & the more we get back to that, the closer the next flag will be. It seemed the opposite to todays big money & everyone changing clubs often etc.
  18. I'm SO hoping he takes the opportunity & makes it work as a key defender. We'll really benefit.
  19. It's the mo that gives him the power to kick those goals from outside 50
  20. Reading Scullys managements statement http://www.velocitys...asp?PageID=1585 it looks like he's going. Hearing Tom speak it sounds like he's staying. I think the rules shouldn't allow a draft pick to leave that soon, but Stynsey's done a good job of minimising the negative Ablettesque vibe around it. I think it would be fine not to play him if he hasn't resigned because what good does his playing do our rebuilding if he's going next year?
