Thanks for the explanation. I appreciate the effort. I just think that clubs might have a different idea. You said 'Two is downright stupid'. Most clubs still have at least 2 first choice ruck back ups. It will be interesting to see what clubs do from here on in. Personally I would love for us to try for a 200cm forward who can play ruck. But good ones are very rare. I have no problem with holding both King and Filipovic. It would be great to have a clear stand out 2nd choice though. Both King and Filipovic aren't likely to show anything good for a few more years. So I see your frustration when Garland is the one to pay for it. I hope the club is doing the right thing by him. I have met him a few times and he seems very genuine and has gone through the worst time in our history.

Col was a semi frequent poster on bigfooty before being drafted. Shortly before being drafted, a thread was created on the main board asking who was the greatest forward of all time (or something similar). The opening post listed potential candidates including the usual suspects... Carey, Lockett, Dunstal etc. Neitz name was also mentioned. Colin replied to the thread explaining that Neitz shouldn't be included in the conversation. It said something like. 'You must be joking if you are including Neitz' He was correct.

Brisbane currently hold the following picks. Points in brackets. Pick 1 (3000) Pick 12 (1268) Pick 18 (985) Pick 20 (912) Pick 39 (446) They have an academy player named Conner Balleden who is tipped to be bid on at around pick 10 (1395) We could trade them pick 29 (653) and 31 (606) for Schache. They can then use pick 20 and 39 to draft players rather than use them for academy points. Assuming we get pick 31 for Watts from Port.

You think? 14 pages on a player that we are actually going to pick up vs 100 pages of complete dribble in the rumours thread seems pretty light in my opinion.

At the time of my post I did not realise we got pick 35 back. We traded less than Collingwood did for Treloar and in my opinon have won the trade. Totally disagree with the 'Treloar is a garden variety mid' comment.

I dont think it was just you. I was busy at work and the information I found in one of the AFL live feeds had no mention of pick 35 coming back to us. I have been angry at work half the day for no reason.

So happy that we got him. But we paid way over. We should have got a 2nd rounder back if we were paying 2 firsts. The Treloar deal was the benchmark. Why we had to also give up a late pick is beyond me. If anything we should have got an extra late back as the minimum. We caved.

Brisbane and Gold Coast have academy picks which will both go around the pick 10-13 mark. Pick 27 = 703 points Pick 29 = 653 points Total = 1356 points. Based purely on those two picks combined, we would equal between pick 10 and 11. Pick 11= 1329 points Just have to make it worth the other teams time. Probably throw in a later pick for free. Edit: also need to consider the discount clubs receive for academy picks. Also.... Brisbane currently have pick 12

2 first rounders would be the starting point. Balic is basically a freebie anyway. So it would come down to the player involved. No point adding on a depth or bottom 6 player, but if it was Lachie Neale or equivalent then you would have to start considering. Problem is that there is no way Freo would give up that much.
