  1. Yeah not sure Fev will get to the Dees, but this and the other forward line (mentioned in the last couple of pages of this thread) still seems a little big. If Wonna can get himself match fit, I would prefer to see him or someone like Jetta or dare I say it Davey up there somewhere as a crumbing forward.... Howe, Green, Petterd are more Mid sized marking options.... Bloody excited to see Clark at the Dees though!!!
  2. LOL, I know I am fairly new to posting on these boards but I think I like the way you and RobbieF! think!!! (btw if either of you need an exclamation mark, I just used up three)
  3. Feel the same, I think we could have gone harder for Crouch, but Pretty happy with what we tried doing with Clark, always a rough shot, and if it means at the end Freo has to pay more, and offer more to Brisbane then that helps us too.... But he always wanted to head to Perth. Dawes is at a club that is very much in a premiership window, again it was unlikley that we (or anyone) could get him away from the Pies. What Next? ...... might be Fev!
  4. We need to be hated for the right reasons!! Most of the hate that comes our way is tainted with pity. I think you will find that most on here would LOVE to be hated by supporters of other clubs because of what the club HAS achieved, not what the club has failed to achieve.
  5. Not that I am disagreeing with you (About it being us) But if Neeld sees us needing a power forward, and Clark, Lisle, Tommy Walsh etc... all of those fall through, and you had the option of Fev there for base wages, why wouldn't you give it a crack (with behaviour clauses in place...) In the past it would have been that the he would be taking the spot of a younger player that we could develop, but I sense the perception of some people has changed a little now to wanting to get a strong body up front to take the heat off Watts, and to allow Jurrah to be the 3rd forward option. Is he the power forward .... or is he just a focal point forward that isn't capable of bringing others into the game around him (I didn't see him play @ Casey so not sure if he is capable of bringing others into the game)
  6. I have a few mates who are Saint's supporters hearing that it could be them.... which is bizarre if true. Of all the Melb based clubs, the only ones I can see having a role for Fev would be: Us (If all the options we are going for fall through) Dogs (If they want to replace Hall and still think they can make a crack for the top 4) Essendon Nth Melbourne Can't think of a fit at any of the other clubs....
  7. I was listening to him, and yeah he said we are the most irrelevant club in the AFL, and we are more focused on the past and to get our heads out of the Long room and to focus on the future. He certainly doesn't hold us with any affection lets say that. As "Demons" we still have a ways to go to live up to that name, to be feared and respected.... sometimes I think we are closer to the "Fuschia's"
  8. Agree that I think he would be great get, and good fit for the needs of the club. I think also from a perception point of view it is important that we are able to bring in a name player. Like it or not we have an image of being soft, and not an attractive option for players on the trade table. Was just listening to Greg Denham on SEN, he has a pretty low opinion of us, and regardless of whether it's justified or not, (and there were a lot of Melb supporters having a go at him) that perception is out there. Mud sticks. Only by winning games, and being able to make statements like we are trying to do with securing Clark will some of the mud be washed off. Not to mention it builds on the excitement of the coaching announcements to be able to attract a few players in as well through trade week.
  9. Probably was me. But I was saying that we should not discount it as part of the trade, I wasn't trying to get rid of him
  10. in a team that only won 4 games, and without a lot of support. Yeah it's not a lot of goals, but I'd like to see goal assists with him bringing the ball to ground as well.
  11. Leading goal kicker this year, has kicked bags of 5 and is 23 yrs old.
  12. I was thinking about Spencer as well... just wasn't sure if Spencer and Leuenberger are too similar in how they play..... Martin and Clark are different players to Leuenberger and offer something else.
  13. Hi Billy, sorry probably didn't need that targetted at you, probably a more general comment at those saying Clark has done nothing to this point in his career as a forward...
  14. http://www.lions.com.au/players/playerprofile/mitchellclark/tabid/5189/playerid/13992/category/senior/season/2011/selected/bio/default.aspx Take a look for yourself, then compare that to what Martin has done. Clark has done more than a lot of talls have done at his age. 80 odd games is about when these players start hitting their prime. Seriously good player.
  15. I think we will need to pay overs somewhat if we are a chance to get him. The question is how much. The point I was trying to make is that Brisbane don't want to lose Clark, and need talls. If they requested a tall from us as part of the trade then the club surely needs to consider that, Martin has some currency, for the exact reason you don't want to let him go, he has value. If we could get Clark for Martin and our second round pick... I would definitely consider that. But that won't happen. We got the same compensation for Scully as Ablett... so we got ample compensation (some will disagree) so I personally think we are a little ahead of the game, if we have to pay slightly overs to secure a quality player in Clark lets do it. For those rating Martin higher, this has to be based upon potential rather than what each have produced up until now. Clark is 23, he kicked 27 goals this year (2011 Leading Goal Kicker), was considered unlucky not to be AA a couple of years back as a 21yr old tall. 3rd in their B&F in that same year, has kicked a bag of 5, won their most courageous player in 2009 as well (impressive when Jonathon Brown plays in your team) To say he isn't versatile or not that good is a bit disingenuous.
  16. This is one of those areas where people will disagree.. I think Clark would easily hold a role in our forward line, and could ruck alongside Jamar. He would take that role ahead of Martin, Gawn or Spencer (at this current point in their careers) Clark is currently better in both of these roles than Martin and in my eyes that makes him more versatile. Each to their own though... I am not saying I would offer him up, but if it was something that Brisbane required to get the trade over the line, you would have to consider it as an option.
  17. Whilst a lot of people are saying how does Clark fit with Martin in. I know Martin has had a really good year, but TBH if it was a case of having Clark or Martin I would take Clark. As has been said here several times you can't get something good in trade week without offering something good up. Martin having a great year is potentially THAT something we might be talking about. If, and this is a massive if, Melbourne could snag Clark I would be prepared to do the deal with Martin or Spencer as part of the trade, because Brisbane need a replacement for Clark, I mean they are considering trying to use Hudson for a stop gap... why wouldn't they be interested in a more permanent option to work with Leuenberger? Essentially this trade is all about Clark wanting to come, I can't see Melb and Brisbane having any issues getting the trade over the line.
  18. Heard Wallace on SEN about 5 minutes ago, reckons that even with the upgraded pick that Melb is up to their eyeballs in it (his words not mine) Reckons that Freo won't get the trade done with either of the picks... and they need to on trade these to get a pick lower than 16... Brisbane frustrated with Freo, and there is no chance that he will get there thru draft/pre-season draft. I still reckon we will miss out as Freo will come to the party, but it would be nice to know that Melb threw everything at it to try and get it done. Rawlings flew up last night to talk to him apparently, so we must be keen.
  19. Confirmed somewhere? or is that your opinion?
  20. I agree it will do it.... Although Melbourne is closer to Perth than Brisbane... and I reckon we would be offering more $ on the contract than Freo would be offering to sweeten the deal Reckon it's sorted and he'll be signed to Freo pretty soon.
  21. Moorcroft!!! More seriously Maloney has been good, Pickett was briefly ok, Holland was servicable without being great, then before that maybe Ingerson?
  22. In the last 4 years we have been more focused on rebuilding through youth and the club was offloading players for picks so of course we didn't get much... ... granted that this is likely to make us less appealing to players in trade week.
  23. Hasn't been confirmed anywhere yet has it? GC has MD pick 1 locked in, Possibly Adelaide will be announced as pick 2. Hopefully the MD stuff is sorted for this year and we can move onto the other trades in trade week.
  24. Brisbane and GC still able to get PP in 2012 as well.
  25. If that happens.... I would love to see Adelaide screw GWS over and take O'Meara anyway...
