  1. Possibly not, however if we push to 40k members like Jim wanted to see it certainly helps offset any financial loss, but speaks volumes about the great man, and what he means to the MFC and it's members.
  2. Very sad day indeed. I was fortunate to have met Jimmy once when he spoke here in Tassie about 5-6 years ago, fantastic speaker and truly inspirational, and that was before he got cancer. I did a leadership development program through work a few years back and Jim was the person I used as a leader who inspired me, . RIP Jim ! (I think I might change my prediction of the Dees position on the ladder too..... not too many things come around to inspire and motivate a club to greatness, but I think this might be a catalyst, tragic as it is)
  3. I read somewhere that the MRP also requested the medical report from MFC, not sure if that's always been the case, but the severity of the injury does appear to be a factor these days... Call me a cynic but Butcher could be dealt with a little bit more harshly.... just so that they can let off Israel Folau so he is permitted to play in the season opener...
  4. If we based things off the preseason.... we'd be ahead of Carlton at least I think we have a pretty tough season ahead of us, I don't think we will get smashed too often and we'll be competitive, but I realistically think we will be between 14th and 10th on the ladder, again the first 6-8 weeks will define this.
  5. sorry? how does cost come into it? The station(s) are still providing the feed, just blocking the external feed, and piping it to the AFL site instead... I read somewhere that the dedicated SEN app doesn't lose it's feed through broadcasts.... anyone able to confirm that?
  6. Hmmm interesting, didn't know that. The ABC Grandstand station thru tunein has always worked for me. (cricket... haven't checked the football though) Don't know why a radio station that has won the rights to broadcast would willingly shut off their stream, Am I seriously hearing that the AFL is forcing people to listen to the radio stream exclusively via the AFL site.. thats really ordinary...
  7. Yes TuneIn will eat your data allowance over 3g, it does work well though (think it automagically adjusts the streaming quality based on the connection type) Yes there is an Android version, The free version just has ads at the bottom and doesn't allow you to record.... where the paid version does (Android store had a special on the full version.... only 50c or something like that...) Great app.
  8. Hasn't Hurley been used in defence as well? Both players it's fair to say have had stints both down back and in the forward line.
  9. You would have to assume it is a trend, otherwise Neeld would not be coming out stating that he is happy with the way players are sticking to structures etc.... I would imagine if the kids were just bombing it long then the coaches would not be happy, and would say that publicly. I recall geelong changed their style slightly in the last few rounds of last year which saw them blow collingwood apart in the last couple of rounds of the year and ultimately got them a flag. That change saw them booting the ball long and deep into their forward line and pressure around the contest deep in their forward half.... whilst they still played in the corridor and not down the flanks, you can't help but wonder whether Neeld tried a similar plan against Collingwood. Whether that same style is used against the Hawks, I don't know.... but he did mention the need for us to have multiple styles of play, and that the very best teams can switch that up in the middle of a game, .... one reason why I am interested to see how we go against the Hawks. Am actually very happy that we have had back to back matches against these two clubs in the preseason.... two of the best teams out there, with different styles of play. Good preparation for our boys, and managing to snag a win @ etihad against the Pies will give them enormous confidence in what Neeld and the other coaches have been drilling into them over the preseason...
  10. Hmmm, from the information that we have been given from the MFC site "Blease missed a compulsory meeting on Tuesday morning after arriving late at the Club. How do you get "simply late" from this??
  11. Fair points, I guess the same can be said about tackling though.
  12. Technically whilst I can agree that Conca propped, he did so with the express intention to make contact with Adams, or for Adams to make contact,.... either way there was intent there. DC I agree it seems severe, but thats the loading that intentional puts on the charge, and the AFL is trying to stamp out the behind the play stuff, and thats not a bad thing, pushing, blocking etc is fine, but that happens on the ball or ahead of the ball, not behind the play. Anyway,.... am bored talking about those sniping little richmond players if I wanted to talk about Conca as much as this.... it would be so much more fun doing it on a Richmond board!
  13. I agree it didn't look like much, but it was 40 meters off the ball. Adams was not, and should not have been expecting contact from anyone. Why is it unreasonable to deem that this should be deemed 'intentional'. It wasn't accidental that he cleaned up Adams! The AFL didn't change the rules just because it's Conca, they did it because every game in the NAB cup is deemed "live" up to the final. I don't often agree with the AFL, the tribunal rulings etc, but sniping players behind play is cheap and dirty.... and rarely is it accidental.
  14. Probably OT here, but are you serious? There was ample video evidence of what he did, it certainly was not lacking, and I have no problem with the new rule stating that anything caught off the ball is upgraded to "intentional" is a good rule. Conca shouldn't have floored Adams off the ball and he is lucky that he is able to serve games through the NAB cup.
  15. with Leadership group of Clark, Frawley, Jamar, Jones, Bartram and Garland. (No green, Davey or Moloney) *sigh* I am a bit slow it seems
  16. Pull Dunn from CHF, replace with Watts, and Howe on the HFF Fixed! (except looking through the list it still misses Tapscott & McKenzie from the team... but then again some players miss out and these guys have been in rehab haven't they?)
  17. on a slightly different note did anyone catch Don McLardy talking on SEN the other day? They were talking about Greg Healy coming back in some form of role as Football Director, but Don kinda got coy about a comment regarding quiksilver coming on board as well when I think the Ox joked about it... Probably nothing in it, but it certainly got my attention (Note I couldn't see them coming on as a major sponsor though...)
  18. Howe actually was recruited from the Hobart Football Club in the statewide comp down here in Tassie. Same club as Aaron Hall who just got picked up in the PSD by the Gold Coast. Hobart pulled him from Dodges Ferry I believe.... (might have lived down that way too, not sure)
  19. Not sure, but with Free Agency about to come in didn't they remove the age requirement for Veterans,.... meaning it's only 10 years of service,... which I thought allows him to qualify. Might be wrong here, but fairly sure that this was the case...
  20. Am over it, but Clark's Girlfriend doesn't get her salary counted under our salary cap it's a bit different! It's almost as if Scully's dad's appointment was somehow tied into the actual contract, and as such needed to be counted as well.... Guys from the Herald Sun are tweeting about how shonky it sounds...
  21. Hasn't the veterans listing changed to be 10 yrs service only? (i.e no age based factors) meaning that Jamar potentially qualifies now, or pretty soon is eligible to go on the veterans list as well.
  22. I agree, and Tim Harrington mentioned that we are still only paying 92.5% of the cap with the deal made to Clark. Had to be spent somewhere why not on securing Mitch.
  23. Agree that Maric seems likely to be delisted. (to be picked up by Nth in the draft) I suspect that we might offload a rookie or two, and Wonna might be re-listed as a rookie... would be a rough call to delist MacDonald, but it's possible I guess.
  24. We bundle it up and throw it up to GC along with a compensation pick for Josh Caddy. Throw Warnock in as well. Really hope we snare this kid instead of Essendon,.... Also the compassionate grounds for Caddy get tested, because the only requirement for GC is to get him to Melbourne, to get his to Essendon is not their problem. EDIT: Warnock just traded... still reckon 39 and a compensation pick is a better deal than Essendon is offering....
