  1. I was one of many who thought it was a lucid moment in a terrible time when the two young Jack's were given the Captaincy of the MFC. Upon revision, it really just highlights how bad of a position the club was indeed in. Jack alludes to this. The burden he and Jack Trengove had placed upon them was clearly ridiculous. We as supporters were looking through our rose coloured Melbournefc glasses, thinking this was a stroke of brilliance and that the two young co-captains would provide the catalyst for bringing success to the club. How wrong we were. Grimesy was in the right place at the wrong time. A Demon tragic playing for the club he loves at the elite level - the stuff dreams are made of. Just a great bloke and I hope he has success with Hurstbridge.
  2. Yeah, it was a pretty juicy call, Ron. In two or three years time I might be completely wrong.
  3. Internet high 5, bruh.
  4. Agree to an extent but when you look across all the lines there's some good experience and a nice age spread apart from the half forward line. I think we might see Pedo instead of Weideman quiet a bit. The time spent together during the pre season and the intensity of match play they've been practicing might help expedite the rate at which they 'gel' and result in added wins outside of many peoples expectations.
  5. It's all relative in my mind and we were pushed according to the same philosophy both mentally and physically. To be fair, I think we can all agree that this type of training is designed to deliver a similar desired outcome no matter if you're elite sports people or developing leadership skills for business and, as discussed to almost ad nauseam, the results can vary greatly. Anyway mate, I appreciate your input on all threads so I don't want to see you get your knickers in a twist over differing opinions particularly in this one due to your direct intel.
  6. That poor old bloke was hammered. When they interviewed you'd swear he'd just finished off a carton of froffies. Question: why would you carry a ridgey didge morphine pen on a simulated training?
  7. Did you see that fella (who I think was in his 60's) on tv who played lawn bowls for 72 hours straight for a Guinness book record! At about the 70th hour, he was asked to barrel one down and knock the Jack out and he nailed the bowl. That bloke is elite.
  8. Jonesey's last best experience was playing in a Final back in 2006. He's hardly had much to benchmark from to now call this one of the best.
  9. From two nights? I think you're being too kind.
  10. I wouldn't expect any negative media from the players, let alone the Skipper. I've given an overview of my experience which went for 4 days long, not two, so there is a significant difference already. As for Salem, you either don't get instruction on how to pack your back pack or he's too thick to do a simple risk assessment.
  11. Where's the photo of Neeldy holed up in his office developing his Moneyball strategy whilst his line coaches run training? How times have changed indeed!
  12. I reckon Milos could fund that.
  13. I can't believe Steve Dank is letting Hird go through this. I mean he has all of the evidence to exculpate everyone involved! Is that what Hird senior was referring to as "people that have let James down".
  14. Joel Smith must be disappointed by the third man up rule. Whay sort of body work was he doing? To contest the ruck?
  15. Indeed. Who's to say this latest chapter isn't just another part of the charade to try and shake some of the manure off. Sorry, but it's sticking,
  16. Kents speed is overrated. I don't think he's all that quick at all and has a limited leap and lacks defensive pressure - although there was some improvements in this towards the end of last season. From the vision I've seen of Johnstone, I would not be surprised at all if he becomes a better small forward than Kent. Along with Hannan, a couple of seasons in an AFL environment could yield some surprising results. Remember the thread is asking to 'suppose' a few years in advance, not what the status quo is which is what you have done. Trenners has a good leap but lacks speed. We're not going to see him in the back line anytime soon. Midfield and resting forward - much what people think will be Kent's next phase in his development. He's shown glimpses but so has ANB like at the Geelong game in 2015. There will be real competition for this forward line spots in the next couple of years.
  17. Kent has even more competition for the role he plays. Johnstone looks likely to fit straight in, Hannan is a mature ager who will be ready to play from the get-go. Then of course you have JKH, ANB, Trenners all battling for a role in the forward half. He might be a best 22 now but moving forward I believe he's at real risk of sliding to the magoo's and ultimately being trade bait. And Salem has done little to make me sit up and take notice. I reckon half the people who rate him want to believe the Kelly trade with Tyson and Salem will be our significant win. Well, Kelly is a jet and so far in front of Tyson and Salem it's not funny. Injuries aside, Salem is well past due to show his wares. Failing to do so will see him a battling bottom six player, floating in and out of Casey.
  18. ANB for obvious reasons. Kent - inconsistency will cost him if he doesn't put it together more frequently this season. Salem - let's hope I'm wrong and with the injury and illness he's had it's all that is saving him. Skills are neat but does he have the desire? In his draft year he talked it up that he modelled his game on Luke Hodge. Well, heading into his fourth season, it's time he showed some of those attributes.
