  1. The truth is out there somewhere Andy. You may be correct. I'm just reading the tea leaves and for anyone to head all the way to Brissy the very next morning after a big B&F shindig. Has 'eager' written allover it. Would be stunned if he decides otherwise. This is also why Chicken has attempted the rewrite of his own crow. I call BS on the Alzheimers but being an ex in the game he would have seen the writing once he got wind he was on a meet & greet and has jumped on board the Brissy wagon post the event.
  2. I would say it's pretty much a certainty Praha. Not an if anymore. I doubt we were ever on his radar in a serious sense. Might have helped bump his price up a tad.
  3. If he is touring their facilities plus a meet & greet. Not looking good.
  4. The Tigers had a more lethal defence in 2017 with Rance at the top of his game. Missing this year but then became even more potent up forward with Lynch in. Imagine no Lynch during the period Reiwoldt was out. Lynch as the equal No.1 twin also means the opp were unable to double team Jack like they did quite often in 2018. Lynch in while Jack was out also enables the Tigers the luxury of maintaining their structures up forward with smalls still able to feed off the spills etc. A much harder lock down up forward with the twins, more potent up forward, offsetting the loss of Rance as they were able to score more regularly while still having a very good defence. No Lynch while Reiwoldt was out, a loss or two extra and they probably miss top four and all likelihood of another flag.
  5. Another good reason Mr Leg. Can't really see it happening unless the out of favour Vic clubs speak up. They would also need some support from within the AFL and/or a large player or two before the AFL (post Gil) bothered to take them (us) and this issue seriously and act. Meanwhile the guns will continue to gravitate towards the top echelon clubs as the divide between the haves and have nots grows ever larger each season.
  6. Good discussion point but the problem is the system. While the likes of Lynch are able to get to the clubs that have had the most recent success that is the option they will choose vs teams who haven't seen success in decades like the Aints, Doggies (1 in 62 years) and ourselves. And to a lessor extent Norf (96) and Carltank (95). As Kingy suggested and which i've been calling for for years, FAs should not be allowed to get to a club thats finished top 5/6 or so (previous two seasons) or win a premiership in say the last five. We can talk all we like about the possibility of getting a genuine gun tall forward. Cameron is up next season, aint gonna happen unless the clubs force the AFL to change FA to assist the lessor lights. If Cameron doesn't re-sign at GWS i g'tee he will end up at a top liner in 2021. Nothing more certain. System is flawed until/unless the clubs speak up. Bottom dwellers unite and take over!
  7. If only. Definitely the worst "one that got away" imv. Had he made the trip across in 86/87 we probably make 87 GF also. If he hangs about till 94 i think we would have made it that year too. The Bears had a dig after us and missed also. A good read about how those shifty wee and pooh folk snatched him from under Adelaide's nose. Another great example of the Hawk's rat cunning at draft time. His wife, Sue, might also have played a big behind the scenes role in him going to the Hawks (with an assist from Kerley) as well as their return home to the Crows (excerpt courtesy of the Hun June 2013).... How the Adelaide Crows lost Darren Jarman Graham Cornes ..."In the tumultuous weeks at the end of the 1990 SANFL season, when it was inevitable that South Australia would have a team in the AFL, there were no provisions in place to sign or retain players. Consequently, the smart AFL clubs had already moved on our best players. Gavin Wanganeen had been signed by Essendon; Matthew Robran by Hawthorn; David Hynes by West Coast and Justin Staritski by North Melbourne. All of them should have been wearing Crows colours in our first year, but were spirited out of the state. As a matter of urgency, Max Basheer and Leigh Whicker commissioned Bob Hammond, Neil Kerley and Murray ``Tumbles'' Tippet, one of the senior administrators at the SANFL, to compile a list of our 10 best players and attempt to sign them to a letter of agreement to play at the new Adelaide club. Darren Jarman was No. 1 on that list which included his brother Andrew, Chris McDermott and Garry McIntosh and Rod Jameson, who was on North Melbourne's footy trip at the time. By and large, Bob, Kerls and Murray were quite successful and were working their way through the list, although Gary McIntosh caused great frustration when he wouldn't leave Norwood. Darren Jarman was also in two minds, because Hawthorn had been quite persistent in trying to sign him. But it's not fair to say that Kerls acted too slowly to get Jarman's signature, because eventually Jarman did sign a letter of intent to join Adelaide (they had no official AFL contracts yet), received a signing-on cheque and shook hands with Neil Kerley when the deal appeared done. However, this is where the story takes its controversial twist. Kerls, by some accounts, had been a little too persuasive in his urgency to get the prized signature, to the point that Jarman and his wife Sue were a little shaken when the SANFL deputation had left and were extremely vulnerable to the Hawthorn recruiters who were able to convince them that what Jarman had signed was not an officially binding AFL document. Consequently it was worthless, and he had a much better future in the brown and gold guernsey anyway. Hawthorn then whisked the Jarmans off on holiday and there wasn't much Adelaide could do about it. When Adelaide did protest, they were confronted with the now-infamous quote of Hawthorn's John Lauritz, who sneered: ``You're in the big league now''. It's fair to say that Kerls never forgave Jarman (or Hawthorn), but to the rest of us it all happened for a reason and Darren Jarman is such a good man and great player who eventually repaid the Crows in spades, that we accepted it as one of life's lessons learned the hard way. Just don't bring it up with Kerls!" ... 8. No i'm only talking about a month tops Kent. Not sure how you arrived at 50 years.
  9. Take ANYTHING the Hawks say publicly with a grain of salt. They've been stitching up opponents & umps on the field and all other clubs off it since the 70s.
  10. Surely the $$ are there for 2020 after a record membership DJ? This is why i'm thinking a bit of a trim i prep for next year's drop off (2021) but also possibly a bit of a change up from a top down /comm / control of message perspective.
  11. I'm not overly concerned as long as major roles are covered off come pre-season in full swing i reckon SF. There's also the quality over quantity factor. The Rawlings sit a bit of a worry though. Think he finished as forward line coach so who covers that now?
  12. Just missed that one....see above Trout. One has to assume good reason/s and it's under control. We know nothing of the inner workings. Patience is a virtue. What to do. Wait for the wash up at year's end and see what we're taking into 2020.
  13. Yes or maybe another outside announcement to come D3? A tad late one would have thought but then the Crows are still looking for their head coach. Another possibility, they are more than happy with Richo who might be happy assisting outside of the Director role in terms of hands on assistance. Lost a little control with message/cohesion during this season? Too many fingers in too many pies and / a bit of chinese whispers between line, assistant / development (Macca) and finally Goody. Goody & Mahoney happy to tighten things up a little and take a bit more control with a tighter top down model vs spreading the load/delegating a bit more but losing the control / message / theme through the extra layers in communication channels. Just putting it out there.
  14. Reality check? Membership and potentially sponsor revenue down significantly... pressures through board / admin on budget factors? What happens when your year goes to pot.
  15. Possibly slightly less after Balls got hold of him at the Western oval though SW
  16. By far the best list analyst in media. Not always right but he's usually very close to it. Just shut up, listen and learn.
  17. Was also involved in the Sheedy rejection for Bailey in 2007. Has history. No hatred just not sure why the club felt it necessary to go back to the well again after that fail selection. Garry is interested in MFC goings on and no doubt still loves the club. A good listen with the analytics but his heart and profession (ie; what he takes seriously and where his skills lie) are with his media career. Not Garry's fault he was selected twice either. Poor leadership / decision making up top...yet again. Until this club gets a Brendan Gale type heading it who has & sets a clear vision then drives the entire club towards those set goals we will most likely continue to flounder / dead cat bounce.
  18. In full agreement here Ernest and some good points. Appears like he has been cast aside or out for quite some time. But the bolded part, is this just speculation? Can we (you) be sure they haven't spoken to him and possibly worlds apart with his Manager on price?
  19. Unfortunately you are probably spot on Bin. We are miles apart on how we see O-Mac and will never agree. Quite possibly the Coach, some within the FD & angry bird still have wraps on him becoming a B+ or A grade backman. A hangover from the Macca era where he went all in on his favorite boys prior to seeing how they might perform on the big stage. Weid was another of those he thought would become a gun when he first arrived. Talk about putting pressure on the poor buggers. Just prep, train & let em play to their best....que sera, sera
