  1. If we wanted a mature forward who couldn't get on the park, we would have kept Smith.
  2. It's official then. Just out of curiosity, and because the AFL changes rules more than people change underwear.... do we need to wait until the pre-season draft (is that even a thing now?) to pick him up, or can we sign him up anytime?
  3. The upside to a 5 year deal for a relatively young player with plenty of development left, is that his 4th and 5th season will see him being paid well under his worth, leaving us cap room for other players. It is a good move.
  4. Epic lols. I can’t wait to see the rest of the draw. We are going to be screwed big time this season. Guess I’ll need to get Fox Footy again.
  5. For once we lucked out. It happens so rarely.
  6. I assume you mean Melksham? And if so I really don’t know how you can compare the two. Melksham was given drugs as part of a systematic club- wide cheating programs. He didn’t go out and take drugs on his own accord.
  7. Just shocking really. To lose yourself to concussion at such a young age and lose the thing you’ve worked so hard to achieve your whole life is devastating. Wish him all the luck in the world for his future.
  8. You can’t say they aren’t trying
  9. Frost would have been great depth sure. But you can’t pay depth players the kind of coin he was chasing. Would you rather keep Frost or re-sign Oliver and Gawn when their contracts are up? List management is about a lot more than just keeping onto players you think are OK. We have to manage our cap. Oh and the McDonald conspiracy theory is amazing. I love it. Unique and refreshing. Tom must be one hell of a negotiator. Getting new contracts for himself and his brother and getting rid of their competition. Shame he couldn’t stop them recruiting May and Lever.
  10. Yeah it’s nice to see so many players doing some training on their break. I’ve seen at least half a dozen on Instagram combining holidays with fitness training.
  11. True. But also clubs like Carlton and Essendon, have dug their own grave in no less significant ways and still have never suffered poor draws like we have. Yes I know, big clubs and so on and so forth. Hard to become a big club with this level of inequality though.
  12. My expectations are that we will have a crap draw from a commercial point of view after stinking it up this year. Having finished 17th we should have an easier draw, but I assume we will still have crappy short breaks, trips to Cardinia Park, Tassie and whatever other random spots they feel like throwing us to. Pert did a great job for Collingwood on the draw. Let’s see if he’s pulled the same muscle for us. At least we have two big home games this year in Anzac eve and Queens Bday.
  13. All the best to both of them. Hope they are given a chance elsewhere.
  14. Not that I have massive hopes for this, but I believe they’ll try Joel Smith in that 3rd tall position as he’s very agile and a strong mark. We saw it in the JLT before injury ruined his season. I also believe that we think we can get greater goal output from some of our mids. With Tomlinson coming in we have the option of having him take the back up ruck rather than TMac, which robbed us of goal power up forward. And we can also rest Gawn up forward for greater periods of time as a result. With May and Lever fit, and a tall in Tomlinson on the wing, it makes our reliance on Gawn to plug those holes in the defensive 50 a lot less critical. People may not rate Tomlinson but I think from a structural point of view he will prove absolutely vital and will free up a lot more options.
  15. We essentially got two starting 22 players for one second round pick. And managed to get another top 10 pick. 8/10 for me.
  16. Meh if all we missed out on was Membery I can live with that.

    Hahaha Carlton
  18. Gotta say while Geelong did extremely well, it still brings me joy that they got lots of aging players and lost a 22 year old superstar. Go to hell Geelong!
  19. Blah, Demonland insiders are so far and few between these days. Bring back Cameron Schwabb!
  20. Mutually beneficial deals is why our club gets stuff done at trade week and clubs like Essendon just blow hot air out their [censored]
  21. I would MUCH rather play an extra game at Marvel than in Darwin. For one we play well there. Secondly most of us can actually get there to see the game. And most importantly there is no travel fatigue factor.
  22. Also fantastic news for us idiots who just forked hundreds of dollars over again for a new membership.
  23. Yep just got the email. Good riddance.
  24. I spent 40 minutes arguing about this with my Essendon mate. He says we don’t want to trade him and we don’t want draft picks. We want who we want and Sydney won’t budge. Sydney are the bad guys. I mean their club is deluded from top to bottom
