Fantastic to see us welcome back to the fold great players, and I'm really glad that we are focusing on Indigenous player development. This club is really kicking off field goals!

Upgraded my FOXTEL back up to have fox footy. It really does feel like footy is upon us now! Will be rushing home to watch this one.

I don't love co captaincy but I trust the club 100% on this Viney will be our next premiership captain

The Saints biggest downfall will continue to be their reliance on Etihad. They play exceptionally well there, and their game plan is perfectly suited to that ground. Unfortunately for them, we don't play finals at Etihad.

Is Tom Mac back in full training or still in rehab for his shoulder? Also I laughed at the poster who mentioned Lewis being the messiah. Hardly the messiah, just a damn good player who can hit a target! Glad our players are taking as much from him as they can.

Kent training?

Stretch will be a walk up start into our best 18 by the end of this season He brings skills that we desperately lack, especially disposal efficiency!

Starting to get worried about Kent. No news is sometimes bad news. He is really important to our structure, but is constantly battling injury.

Quality individual, who gave his all to our club. I'm glad he holds no grudges, and I can see him possibly getting involved in a mentoring role in the future.

I hear ya. But I think the excitement will be back in full force once the season starts. Can't remember being more excited about a season in ages. We are a genuine chance to not be totally awful! That is incredible. Plus I'm on a mission to turn my "don't care about AFL" boyfriend into a Melbourne tragic, and my cousin from a Hawthorn into a Melbourne supporter. Lots of work for the season ahead!

I absolutely love him, he adds something totally unique to our team lineup with his speed, courage, attack on the ball and willingness to take the contest on and move the ball. I too would love to see him have short bursts on the wing, and with Hibberd and Melksham down back, this may be possible. Could even alternate with Salem.

Injuries suck, but if you train to avoid them, you will never be much good. We need to be physical and train hard within reason- aka keep Viney away from everyone

Has anyone used their membership to try and get an upgrade on China Southern? I'm flying home from China today and want to try.

Look, we are never going to get the best draw because we aren't one of the big clubs. Considering the absolute shizen they've handed us for the last 10 years, we need to be happy with what we've received this year. If we seriously want to play finals and be a contender, we need to learn to win at Etihad, win off 6 day breaks, and beat sides we haven't been able to beat in years. This is all part of becoming a good team. Considering that we avoid playing twice teams like Hawks, Geelong, Sydney, GWS, WCE & Dogs, is already a massive bonus. If we can't beat mediocre teams like North, St Kilda, Carlton and Collingwood, than the draw makes no difference and we are never going to be any good anyway. Commercially this is a good fixture, it allows us to get maximum exposure early on, get some wins, increase membership numbers etc. We got 2 big games, 1 Friday night against a good opponent, and some home games against big clubs. Yes we have a hard stretch there in the middle with 3 short 6 day breaks including a trip to Perth, and 3 tough opponents. At least we start and finish the year off with a good draw!

If we are serious about finals, we should get to 12 wins. So excited for next year Go Dees!!!

If Roos still wanted to be involved at footy, surely he would have stayed with us. We would have offered him whatever role he wanted and paid him well for it. Can't see why he would put off his long held plans to move to the US with his wife, to work at Collingwood.
