Insert tumbleweeds here.... Another trade week where nothing happens until the last 17 minutes when 18 clubs try to lodge 59 papers.

This thread is next level cray. There is so much wrong going on in here, I hope to god this isn't a reflection of the way the club is dealing with this internally. I'm out.

Agreed. I found his speech really boring. He was reading it from a script, it felt passionless. I hope/assume he is a bit better in front of the players on game day. Of all the speeches, apart from Trenners which was just so beautiful and heartfelt, I found myself really listening when Viney spoke. He is such a leader, and he commands respect. Could listen to him all day. Jones spoke well too, but he spoke like a hurt supporter, which I loved, but it wasn't exactly motivational. Viney was really wonderful though, no wonder he is captain at such a young age!

For all the angst re: Dom Tyson, the coaches obviously rate him.

If Weideman is getting placed 21st in the B&F in his 9th year I hope we trade him too.

Again, look at the top 5, listen to the speeches made, and tell me the club isn't sending a subliminal message to us all. If you adhere by our level of standards you will be recognized and rewarded. Pretty simple.

He was sensational considering he could barely walk for most of the year. This award is about more than just stats. Viney played his role as did Lewis which is why he won the votes.

Obviously the coaches didn't think Hibbo filled his role as well as they wished. It's hard for us to judge. But look at the top 5- all guys who set standards and lead by example. Coincidence? I think not!

We are very clearly not trying to push Jack out for his lack of talent. Listen to every speech made by the coaches tonight, they all talk about setting standards and building a culture. Watts clearly falls outside those boundaries we are trying to set.

Well said Jonesy! He is really one of "us". He gets it. He knows what it's like to be a Melbourne supporter riding this awfully long ride to hopefully a successful end. Interesting comment on Watts... "whatever happens".... hmmm

Taking a step back but I'm still struggling not to cry over that Trengove speech. What a wonderful man. Definitely proof that crappy things happen to great people.

Maybe flying up and down in a day was bad for his rehab? Maybe he went to Byron but also didn't spend enough time rehabbing? Garlett and Watts had similar injuries. Why did it take Watts 4 weeks to come back from what we were told is a minor hamstring tightness?

Difference is Kent and JHK have zero currency. If we could get something for them we would trade them in a minute. In fact I'm sure both are "on the table" and receiving offers of 1 large mac n cheese burger with a side of fries. Watts has currency that can help us improve and land a player better suited to our needs and the culture the club is trying to build.

You don't know what young girls are like. They would contact Abby for one of the following reasons: 1. Jealousy- she gets to come home to him and have all the nice things a WAG gets 2. Anger/Revenge because Jake didn't give them enough attention or wouldn't sleep with them again 3. Guilt at having done what they've done knowingly or unknowingly It would be very easy to get Abby's number. She's contactable thru social media and an agent. Anyone could have emailed her asking to do some business activity as a lie to cover up. Also how easy is it to get a number from someone's phone? Very easy these days. If these girls got close enough to Jake that he'd let them muck around on their phone, they could have gotten her number without him knowing off his phone.

This result makes me somehow angrier and more disgusted at our team and how we finished the season. I'm sick of being a Melbourne supporter today, even tho I'm in Vietnam and not even watching the game (just following results and getting texts) Good on Richmond. We laugh at them but [censored] me they have done something we haven't achieved in 53 years!!!

On field Viney may not need Jones, but Jones does a lot off field that I would prefer not to burden Viney with at this stage.

We all sat here furious that we missed finals. I'm still furious about it. [censored] Richmond are in the bloody GF! Anyways, a big part of why we missed out on finals is we got too content, too lazy, we lacked that killer instincts. Yes this is definitely not exclusively the fault of Watts, but gees he is a perfect example of a player who doesn't care enough. He isn't alone, but for 10 years we've struggled to get him to apply himself, and as a senior player now, that sort of not quite right attitude seeps thru the playing group if not handled correctly. I have always been a Watts supporter and defender, but if we sit here bemoaning our lack of results and our dismal round 23 capitulation, and yet we do nothing to rid the club of those who don't put in enough, then how can we expect to move forward? As supporters we need to stop feeling personally victimized by players being moved on and accept that sometimes 10 years and 7 coaching regimes fighting to better a player's attitude is long enough.

We're just getting too old for this
