  1. Apologies, it was pretty immature, but I couldn't resist. - Mitchell has one of the best footy brains and awareness I've seen. Further to that, his initial acceleration is quick enough to break away and deliver the kick or handball. - Lewis has been made to look a better player than he actually is IMO. Pace is average, quicker than Trengove. - Kieren Jack, I disagree on. He has pace and a very, very good sidestep which allows him to quick-foot out of traffic. - Kennedy is a beast, 193cm and 100kg. He doesn't need to be quick, and I'd say the same about Scott Thompson. Idris appreciates that Saty. And even though I've delved into this debate about pace with you, I actually very much support Trengove's contract extension, and not for sentimental reasons. I think he has it in him.
  2. That third quarter was almost identical to the first match against the Saints. So frustrating. It amazes me that a team can go from having the edge for the first two quarters, to standing around like witches hats in the third. We've been good at doing it, and yesterday Casey were too.
  3. And Lucas Cook earned the nickname 'Cookie Monster'.
  4. I think they did the right thing by offering Trengove a year, as there is improvement in him IMO. But Saty comparing Trengove and Hunt doesn't make a lot of sense. I understand the reluctance of some to support the decision, seeing as his horrendous injuries might have robbed him of the bare minimum pace that is required to make it back to AFL level. Hunt was a developing player without the terrible injury history that Trengove has, and hadn't even played a game.
  5. Not a good comparison at all Satyr. Surely it doesn't need to be pointed out that they are completely different situations.
  6. Remember that. A. Gilchrist was actually changed to E. Gilchurch. Vintage!
  7. Might be one of half a dozen darts thrown at the board that actually hits the mark.
  8. He'll get a gig somewhere. Have to say I can't believe he's 192cm. Just from the little footage I've seen of him I'd always assumed he were a small forward, maybe 180cm.
  9. I'm more inclined to think that Kennedy won't, unless something drastically changes. Neal-Bullen I think is on a trajectory to make it, even if it's not necessarily with Melbourne. I think he can adapt and has improved quite a bit since last season (albeit at VFL level) IMO. Oh, and your opinion offends me deeply.
  10. I refuse to believe that at the stage we're at as a club, we'd re-sign a player on purely a political and cultural basis. The coaching department still see something in him, I'm sure.
  11. I'd compare Trengove's first season to Brayshaw's, and maybe even a little better. He was on track to become a total freak, and there were plenty of comparisons to Jimmy Bartel. Makes his decline so much harder to swallow, but I truly believe he can get himself back to the point where he is a regular in the 22. He is a guy of immense character and football talent.
  12. Hope you're right but so far he has done nothing to show that he'll bounce back to cement a spot next season.
  13. Does 'your man' have any inside word on that?
  14. Both had fantastic years and looked tired yesterday, probably as expected in their first season of senior football. Weideman will be a very good lead up player when he has some more size. Considering how slim he is, he does really well to get to the top of packs and get hands on the ball as he does. A bit more weight behind him will help him split those packs apart. Love his kicking action too - simple and effective. Up to yesterday afternoon I believe he had kicked 24.5 and therefore ended up with 26.7. Hulett will come on even more next season I think, considering last season he only played the last 2 games of the TAC competition. I also wouldn't be surprised if they gave him a run in defence, just to see what his ability as a swingman might be like. Regardless, his style of play could see him end up as a good third/fourth tall to Hogan, Weideman and Watts.
  15. The lowest of the low. I absolutely agree with your sentiment and our own stand alone team would be a great development for the club and the supporters. We have shot ourselves in the foot with a bazooka with this 25 year contract with Casey. Or is it 30?
  16. So do you think Neal-Bullen or Kennedy will make it as AFL players? Because there are a number of AFL teams that Neal-Bullen would have been given regular games in this season. I think he'll grow his game to a point where he'll be playing in our seniors, or someone else's. This is my sentiment exactly. It can be done, and an example that matches your requirements as above is Neville Jetta. Another is Jayden Hunt, who a lot on here were calling to be delisted.
  17. I'd be sending abuse your way for the spelling, to begin with.
  18. Do you think VFL players can't progress to become AFL players?
  19. Nope. Was obviously around for 2000 but not old enough to be as passionate or committed as I am now.
  20. Can't see us trading him after one season. I think he can still come on and shows some glimpses of quality, just needs consistency. It may be found in better fitness.
  21. I was going to be all around them, love an underdog and the our trajectory has been compared to theirs. But no longer.
  22. That was hard enough to watch. I don't know how I'd ever handle the Dees losing a grand final. I think I'd need to be committed.
  23. Not so sure I'll be cheering for them on Saturday anymore.
  24. Where was the leadership? An issue that runs through the seniors and into the seconds IMO. Smith and Kielty will both be on AFL lists next season.
