Jesus, that is grim. Your evidence adds up quite nicely, but the boat designer's name was actually spelt 'Fife'. Close enough though!

As long as there is actually an answer, yeah...

This ain't the Colin Sylvia thread bro.

Very true, and I doubt he 'may hold the key to our future'. But he certainly spreads like butter on a good day, as a Swan has wings and is currently ocean bound. Further to that, fits into the guidelines as a free agent next season and plays for an interstate club.

Has anyone mentioned Gary Rohan?

Especially considering their underwhelming development thus far. You've pretty much hit the nail on the head with that summary.

Best 22 for Round 1, 2017

I don't think many here are under such illusions. It's just fun putting together the team that you think is our best side, or might be the team that runs out in round one. -
Best 22 for Round 1, 2017

FWIW, this is the side that I think will run out in round 1, barring injuries. B: Jetta O McDonald Frost HB: Hibberd T McDonald Salem C: Hunt Jones Vince HF: Petracca Hogan Brayshaw F: Garlett Watts Pedersen R: Gawn Lewis Viney I/C: Tyson, Melksham, Kent, Oliver Special mentions to Stretch, Harmes, Weideman, VandenBerg and Wagner who I think will all be pushing hard for selection. ANB too if he remains on the list. I love how long that took me, and I'm sure I've missed someone important. -
Best 22 for Round 1, 2017
Little Richard replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
If he is healthy and does have a strong pre-season, then I think he makes the best 22. However it's hard to see both of those things coming to fruition, if his last couple of seasons are anything to go by. -
Add 10 years before they realise what they're actually doing.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD

I'm sure we could have drafted an obese kid if we really wanted to. -

Kind of like flipping a coin a hundred times and getting 70% heads. Those results aren't going to affect your next coin toss at all. -
Probably as good as you can get for 'grass roots' footy and hopefully a step towards an AFL berth for Junior. Congratulations!
-
Solid player but the cost isn't worth it for us at this stage. Both in terms of his contract and cost at the trade table.
-
At least they're backing themselves I suppose.
-
So when someone actually gets it right, will this guy notify us? Or continue to make us suffer?

A third of minimum wage for many of the players is a horrid outcome. Fantastic that they're promoting the womens game of course, but paying them sweet FA is not at all fair. The AFL can afford to at least meet the minimum wage requirements.

We are building a really, really strong core of young players from the ground up. Our deplorable years are still felt though through the gaping generation gap, and while I've never been a big fan of Lewis, or super impressed by him as a player, he's the kind of guy who would fill that experience gap admirably for a couple of years as the likes of Viney and Tyson mature.

And America will be great again!

At the very worst, this whole Mitchell and Lewis business shows that Hawthorn may well be all over the place next season. That's still a good result IMO.

Can't say I've seen any from that list, but have seen Inferno and possibly a couple of others, but the names escape me. They were enjoyable but not thrilling. Haven't been able to see a lot of European film to be honest, but I'll be adding those to my list to try and educate myself a bit more! Did you see The Witch? If so, thoughts? I was kind of underwhelmed. The setting was very original and it looked fantastic but the plot was really thin and the final scenes totally redundant IMO.
-
Those players are stop gaps, not players that they can build a future team around (McCarthy probably the exception). They now have more draft picks as a result of the McCarthy trade and Lyon mentioned earlier in the month their intention to now start drafting in youth, because if they don't their list is well and truly stuffed.
-
It will be interesting to see how their drafting goes under Lyon. Hasn't overseen a rebuild via the draft so hopefully it'll be entertaining. We should offer to pay Barry Prendergast to take care of their drafting this year.

Good taste! The Descent was one I never saw but always meant to. I rate the original Saw as a very good, low budget horror film and felt the psychological element to it was very, very good. From then on though, it just became torture porn. Insidious, from James Wan (also directed Saw) is pretty good. Quarantine and the original Spanish REC are both pretty creepy found footage films about a rabies outbreak in an apartment block. Have you seen The Babadook? Australian horror that came out a couple of years ago, starring Essie Davis. It's brilliant and scary, plus addresses human emotion really nicely. Can't recommend that enough.
