Agree, Pedersen is a much better option I think. Cost much less and can fill the same role probably just as well IMO. Our forward line has been basically disabled since Neita went, I can handle limited.
-
Vlastuin may still be available at 20 and Matt McDonough (strong small forward who kicked a few in the championships) though he could slide a bit. I think both of these would definitely add to our deficiencies.
-
Why? They are completely different players. Barry is a running outside mid with good footskills while Jetta is a hard at it, tackling inside type.
-
Is that you Cale?

Couch will definitely stay on for at least another year. Pretty sure he'd have a two year contract as he is a rookie and he dominated in the VFL, almost winning the JJ Liston trophy. I don't think he looked out of place in the seniors, just has a bit of work to do. Impressive tackler.
-
I personally think he is safe, especially as he has some of the qualities Neeld seems to hold in high regard. Always has a crack, doesn't shirk the contest and is pretty versatile. If it were up to me I'd hold on to him because at the moment he is a regular 22 starter and we don't have many of them. Plus he looked decent down back at the end of the season.

I think it was Eltham College, don't quote me on that though. It makes sense as he would have been playing against a better standard in the TAC cup than the AGS competition which Marcellin plays in, and they made it compulsory there to prioritise the school over other teams.
-
Marcellin, he went to Eltham for year 12 so that he wouldn't have to play for the school.

Hun reports that Geelong have secured the services of GC 'star' Josh Caddy. And they wonder why no one gives them credibility...

Latest murmurings of a crazy time

Then we have very different ideas of what kind of player is 'A grade'. I think A graders are players like Selwood, Judd, Ablett, Kennedy, Mitchell, Thompson and so on. Rich is at least a couple of levels lower than these guys. He is a handy player but you should be getting a higher calibre of player with pick 4 than him. Edit: Just to add to that, Jones is a better player than Rich, and he still has a fair way to go to becoming an A grader. -
Reported on a reliable facebook page that Caddy is now at the Geelong Football Club. We have dodged a bullet I believe.

Just whispers in the various media outlets, plus a gut feel. I know Damien Barrett reported today that it is a certainty and that they are fine tuning the specifics. I don't have a whole lot of faith in Barrett's reporting though. -

Matt Suckling says hello. Rich has had a pretty good year but you save top 5 picks for top line players (if a trade is on the table), not B grade midfielders. -

Pedersen is coming to the Dees. -
Oh yeah I haven't checked out Roadknight or Fairhaven yet, usually I hit the main beach at Anglesea which can be pretty scrappy but I find Torquay seems to have better waves. Cheers for that.

Does a rookie upgrade count towards the 'minimum three picks used' rule?

Stop posting these gifs B-H, I keep getting distracted and foget the point you are making. -
Height can be a pretty damning factor in the eyes of the recruiters. Remember Anton Woods a few years ago? I think he was maybe a centimeter shorter than Kennedy, dominated the TAC cup and under 18 comps, won the TAC best and fairest and wasn't even drafted. I'm hopeful Kennedy will be available at 20 but who knows.

POLL: Watts v Naitanui ... Did we get it right or wrong?
Little Richard replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
With Hogan and potentially Dawes/Pedersen, I can't see Watts breaking into the forward half as a tall anytime soon. I have faith that he is a prototype wing/outside mid and will continue to thrive in this role. His agility, reasonable pace and remarkable composure through traffic (he always looks like he has plenty of time to get rid of the ball) will make him an excellent player in this mould. -
Definitely, especially in his hands and took some good strong marks. Looks great down back and fills that role of a real big strong key back, and was more than handy in the ruck I reckon.
-
Cook can eff off, hopefully we can get something for him before the trade period ends. No idea about contract status but the guys I'd put out there first are Bennell, possibly Petterd, Davis (unless we lose Rivers) and Spencer (depending on what happens with Martin). I would much rather hang on to Sellar than say Spencer.
-
Monfries was a free agent too, so it's possible that a deal similar to that could arise where it is better to do a trade between clubs than the FA method.
-
It really depends on who is available to trade for. Pick 4 should net a top player in a trade but it seems like there is no top tier players on offer so far. Due to that I think we'll end up using it and Wines/O'Rourke are good options I think.
-
I have a suspicion that Kennedy may still be available at 20. A few phantom drafts haven't even had him in the first round and hopefully his height might put off other clubs so that he is still available at 20.
