In the base 16 number system, there are 16 digits, often denoted, 0-9, A,B,C,D,E,F. That means 'A' in base 16 is the same number as 10 in the decimal system. So if 10 is a single digit, it must have been its equivalent in base 16, ie A. Worse than explaining a joke, I guess, but there you go. Bet you wish you hadn't asked now
