Have they kept with the Gold, silver and bronze idea they started last year? I hope so because I am due for a gold one for 2009.

From what he implies it sounds like DeBoer for PSD and Klemke for rookie. Hopefully Melbourne's reasonably successful history in the rookie draft can continue this year.

Yes I got the same thing, I think it is a good idea from the club. I also received a text message along the same lines Saturday morning while watching the draft that if I replied to with "join" the club would call me on Monday. It's good to see the club being active like they are.

I was thinking along the same lines with Blease and Strauss as they were the numbers worn by them for Vic Metro, they might like to stick with them.

Going by a post over at demonology it looks like we are having a draft preview night Thursday night from a Volvo dealership and the foundation hero's have been invited. If this is when we intend to announce the decision then i'm all for it. It's good for Volvo from a sponsors point of view and it gives those people who pitched in significant money in the debt demolition campaign a little something extra for their money. Could Volvo be a chance to step up to major sponsor next year?

He is spot on. I'm disappointed with the amount of Sunday games but what can you do when our team has won 8 games out of the last 44, we have to earn prime time games. 2 night games is no surprise either. The football aspect of our draw isn't anywhere near as bad as it has been in the past, hopefully an improved Melbourne team hit the park and entice the crowd to start turning up again. I'd rather be playing the interstate teams at the MCG than at their home ground, if we win a few of these it'll have flow on effects to future crowd attendance. On the other hand if we travel to AAMI stadium etc and get pummelled it means a few thousand more people won't turn up the following week. Unfortunately we don't get the game day attendance in this situation we have but it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.

He has come out and said (well before he blew minds at the draft camp) that if he personally had pick number 1 he would take Jack Watts, said he could see him kicking goals from 50m out on the MCG for the next 10 years. Moloney was promoted to the leadership group late last year there is no chance he'll just get delisted. Carroll would have to be the only one in danger.

Isn't the problem being if we paid him out of his contract it counts towards our 2008 salary cap and puts us over the limit? It'll be interesting to see if he turns up to training today.

My Melbourne predictions.......... Out - In - Draft Picks 1, 17, 19, 35, 51 and PSD pick 1. and Demonland to go into chaos with people claiming how bad a job the Melbourne powers that be have done. If I am right I wil be sure to stay away.

That is a good a deal as I think we could do if he wants to go to Collingwood, Naturally Green and 19 would be better. We'd have to be careful not to load up on too many picks because i'm not sure that we'll use too many depending on what happens with Aussie and Valenti.

I'm sure some people aren't as short sighted as most. We have had 2 years down near or on the bottom and we are working at turning this around by concentrating on a young core gorup of players. He may see himself being part of this core, I hope he does, would love to have him.

He plays the game with an enourmous amount of passion which is good to see. There'll be plenty of rumours like this thrown around in the first few days, i wouldn't read too much into it yet.

I noticed that too, can't be a good sign for his AFL career.
