  1. It's all Don non-speak for "we're in a rebuild", just don't tell our long suffering fans... If ever a team has earned the Norm Smith curse, it's Essendon. May it be over 50 years till they taste the fruit again...
  2. I suspect the issue may be addressed in an up coming episode of “Hell and back”..!?!
  3. That's funny one_dee, I'd have Jetta, Hibberd, May, Lever and even Oscar in front of him... and happily replace him with another gray hound on crack in Hunt, for the "line breaking speed top turn over" thrill ride, if that what gets you going at the footy.
  4. Mate, Frosty was not "premiership quality defence" and not our "second defender". Move on.
  5. That was quick, only 3 pages in...
  6. Oscar
  7. You mean like this..?
  8. A good captain has the ability to turn a game by the force of their will, and inspire his team to lift and rally in either his defence and/or inspired by his leadership. I’m confident Max covers all those aspects.
  9. According to those numbers if we bounce back to our trajectory of the past 5 years we are looking at approximately 18 wins this year... ??? Go Dees...
  10. Vandenberg is key to the manic forward pressure game that had us unravel top teams in 2018. Him crashing and hunting opens the congestion for others to wreak havoc. He can also mark and kick goals, and hurt the opposition fairly... a very useful trait in modern sanitised footy.
  11. Dons came away with one injury - Patrick Ambrose - Essendon cop another injury in win over Demons 'reserves'
  12. I don’t get why you’d need a “massive” 20 Ac facility to train a single men and women’s footy team..? Tech, good equipment, best fitness and coaching staff, enough space for the team to have unimpeded access to gear, etc... but there’s only 44 odd men in training with minimal overlap with the women’s team (which at a pinch could continue to train at Casey). I think a hi-tech compact facility in center of town is far more attractive (to players we’re courting) and effective than 20 acre in the middle of nowhere. The fact we train along side soccer and rugby teams adds to the energy and potential for innovation... Bigger and more, is more about the egos at play than the proven benefits of such largess on the performance of the team...
  13. Another well timed slap in the face of our playing group. No respect given. (and understandably so) Hoping our 2020 season runs like a redemptive Tarantino movie, violent, entertaining, and ultimately cathartic. Go Demons.
  14. I think the best prion is to stay right where we are, and build smarter into and over our immediate surrounds, ie over roads to Yarra to South of Goshe’s paddock etc do that in combination with other shuffles in the area and we should be good for another 50 yrs.
  15. Made me think they only wanted those members to come who were capable of long term planning...
  16. “negative-nelly-ness” #onlyondemonland
  17. I thought the mise-en-scene, camera work and dialogue was top notch in episode 2, with the Shrine, Harleys interrogation and cathartic hug with the big guy, even has a bit of comedy from Gus... Brilliant stuff, show me any other club putting out such high grade docs!!?!? roll on episode 3! Hoping for them to take it up another notch ?
  18. Our board are astute operators, movement on facilities wouldn’t be in there unless they are close to concluding on a doable solution.
  19. To be honest I’m more excited at the prospect of Tomlinson, Langdon and Vandenberg also playing Round 1. Add LJ and Kossie as icing and talented kids learning the game, while the seasoned men provide the mettle and meat required to knock the Eagles off at home.
  20. I think Burgess’s point to the players that, having done “another 35-37km week”, that the team didn’t get to that point ever in their preseason last year, AND that next week they were going 20% higher. This is Key to title, and reason for optimism. To use another phrase from episode two, last year we couldn’t “control the controllable “ (preseason, player prep, season prep, etc...) that’s was “Hell” and flowed through the year. This year, as both episodes have touched on we’re “back”, in control of those elements we can control and optimise. For professional football people we were in Hell in 2019 months before the season started. So we can (and hopefully are) be “back” in the preseason too... love the videos and like the title.
  21. Excited hearing Vanders say “... the sky’s the limit”... re his foot and footy. If our stars align in 2020 and our best 22 are fit and firing we are a top team. Good signs, fingers crossed.
  22. I think that we are in a pretty good spot re-injuries. We appear to be pushing the boys very hard on the track, but being ultra-conservative (and slow to re-introduce them) if they have injuries or niggles. Of the current injury list, only Preuss is clearly out for part of the season (aside from tyhose injured prior to the pre-season in KK, Bennell and Neitschke. My guess all (the TBA) will be back in full training over the next couple of weeks to a month, and if we were in the season proper some of the "injured" players would be working through it to play next week...
  23. goosebumply! #onlyondemonland
  24. I think Jone will have a resurgent year without the “weight” of the captaincy to bear. Have faith.
  25. Jones deserves a send off similar to what the Hawks gave Crawford. I truely hope he gets it.
