  1. 2 & 3 is overs for Danger, exceeds the compo AFC will get in 2015 (pick 8 say) or what every other club could offer. So 3 + player for Danger and pick 2 for Petracca. BANG we're back!
  2. Petracca, Dangerfield and Hogan debut for the MFC Round 1 2015, and we are REBORN!!!
  3. Article quotes Bombers offering him 1.5 over three years...
  4. Is it just me but the prospect of us drafting Petracca as well as Dangerfield (I know long shot etc...) has me salivating at our prospect for 2015 and beyond. Two top grade bulls in the centre... Yes Please
  5. "Clark to decide..." after GF. What a stooge.
  6. I'd have thought that GC would be into him, good quality experienced finals player... They're ready to start topping up for a tilt over the next 2-4 yrs.
  7. Thinking about the Dons probable intransigence with trading Ryder and other disenchanted players, our challenges in getting a fair price for Mitch Clark, it occurred to me that there may be increased value in our PSD pick 2, to pick up players. I.e. more players slipping through to this draft. How does it work if we can't do a deal on MC, would he go into the PSD? Similarly with the Dons, assuming their players can claim failure of duty of care and the Dons don't facilitate a deal, which draft would these players then fall into? Can we trade our PSD pick?
  8. Hey Dr, in the past 50 years since our last premiership we (the MFC) have mismanaged many aspects of running a football club such that we are now at the effect of these outside influences that you mention. The AFL didn't do this to us. The other clubs didn't do this to us. We did it to ourselves, us and no one else. And its from us fully owning what we did, taking full responsibility for our predicament, that we can then take on the task of fixing it.
  9. We've stacked it so that we are at this losing end of the way things are... no one did it to us but ourselves. Over the past decades OUR development of players has been sub par, OUR nurturing and developing of an ongoing winning culture has been sub par, Our talent identification and drafting have been sub par, OUR management of the clubs membership has been sub par, etc... Half the threads on this board bemoan this, yet we want the AFL to kick in another extra pick or two so we can continue not taking responsibility for these areas having been sub standard for years...
  10. You're not getting it. Great teams take FULL responsibility to doing the best in EVERY area of their practice that they can control, AND not getting sucked into becoming victims of things that they CANNOT control. It's been a long time since we could say we, the MFC, were taking FULL responsibility for EVERY area that we control that determines our success as a football club. But we continually moan and blame and feel victims to things we CANNOT control. When we draft, develop, manage, coach our club WELL, then we can ask questions about the broader issues we face, UNTIL then we should start taking FULL responsibility for what we can, and stop bitching.
  11. We need to create "exceptional circumstances" at the MFC instead of begging for scraps. If we have finally realised that we (the MFC) are the only ones who will deliver a turn around, then this will be a win.
  12. We've responsible for the hole we're in, and the sooner we accept full responsibility for it, the sooner we'll get ourselves out of it. Not denying the lopsided aspects in the AFL comp, or our tragic run, etc Though I do think we tend to overstate the issues with our list to try to engage more charity... Only way forward is to run our club better, draft well, win games, market well... then we'll rise, get better slots draw more FAs etc... Moaning and hoping for it to be delivered on a platter is the delusions of losers, and part of the reason we're in this hole.
  13. About time we got over being the victims of our past, grow up and develop some attitude... Try a dose of this ... http://youtu.be/zV2aYno9xGc?t=1m49s
  14. Exactly, hence our offer to Dangerfield has to be attractive enough that he'd be open to taking it next year, forcing the AFC to act now to secure a better deal.
  15. This is the KEY AFC are looking at getting approx pick 6 for him as a FA in 2015, so offering better than pick 6 in 2014 is a better deal than AFC would otherwise get. So Pick 3 would be a bonus for AFC. It's not what Dangerfield is worth, but the Hawks got pick 19 for Buddy. Its then offering a deal that other Victorian based clubs cannot trump, i.e pick 3 plus a pick/player. I'd suggest we try another Tyson type deal that gains us a mid first round pick and we then trade pick 3 and pick 10 to the AFC for Dangerfield. That would be beyond every other Vic club bar the Saints, who seem to be uninterested in Dangerfield. Pick 3 + 10 is unders for his value, but far more than the AFC would otherwise get (via FA compo) and beyond what they'd get from another club. Then we'd need for Dangerfield to want to come and sign long term with the MFC $$$ + TLC.
  16. Fair enough DC, fingers crossed then... Feel more positive Mitch will kick on and up for us... so Mitch if you're reading... http://youtu.be/Ajzpd-ONOdo
  17. pure speculation though the timing of our submission and the start of the MC saga did coincide, hence "presumably".
  18. The timing in all this is interesting... We put an application to AFL for "draft assistance" which is meant to be decided tomorrow (monday), which presumably includes a plea based in part on the Mitch Clark situation... assuming the AFL commission have been reading their own rules and watching us play these past few years and give us "draft assistance" of a pick at the start of the second round (approx 19). What happens if Mitch then comes back to play for us? What happens with him leaving, will the club he goes to have to trade for him as reported, if so we could get another pick in addition to the "draft assistance" pick? i suspect the MC situation will clarify rapidly after the "draft assistance" decision is made.
  19. Reckon Jack will start to hit his straps next year - maturing nicely and starting to show some hunger for respect. Good signs. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-09-19/i-want-to-remain-a-demon-watts
  20. Would be golden, appropriate and i believe not particularly begrudged but Other AFL fans for us to a special assistance pick in first round for loss of Clark, 7 years of misery, rebuilding against expansion teams etc, ... , etc ... With picks 2 , 3, 4 we'd recover from being plundered for chip and itch, and able to set up some momentum to ensure 2015 brings some excitement to the lives of us long suffering MFC fans.
  21. Be interesting to see if he can help us lure some disenchanted bombers or crows across... as well. Great to have another capable coach with their hand on the tiller.
  22. ON MFC SITE - Goodwin appointed to coaching panel
  23. A huge statement for MFC if Goodwin commits now, before AFC selection process run.
