  1. All the graphs and statistics are irrelevant on game day where the only statistic that counts is on the score board.
  2. I think Hogan could play as a midfielder like Cripps and make an impact for the team so yes we could then play all 3 Weeds TMac and Hoges in the same team.
  3. I think the MFC should ask for Brayshaw and Cerra for Hogan which Freo would not entertain but if they do then our midfield becomes better in the long run and we could use Weid's as his replacement

At least with Usain Bolt you will get a crowd just to watch him run and he is over 195 cm
  5. If winning a premiership means a poor draft pick bring it on

'Then we can walk away from the offer and West Coast have huge salary cap problems, we just don't fall into the trap of giving West Coast anything.

When I was at Melbourne Football Club Ray Jordan was the reserves coach and his criteria was the play need a little C..T in them to make it at AFL football, Players who were soft and did not have this fell by the wayside all the players mentioned above had ability but lacked that ingrediant.

I think the trip to Darwin took more out of him than anyone would have admitted, as you get older long trips and the heat would be more taxing on the aging body.
  9. When was the last time Melbourne had 2 goal Kickers in the top 10 in the AFL?
  10. Casey won by 8 points

Gaff will cost nothing if he chooses us whilst Prestia was not a free agent and Melbourne had burnt its first picks, therefore there can not be a comparison between the 2.

Allen was a mature age recruit and was sensational braking goal kicking records for the league and the Demons but his stay was too brief I believe if he had stayed healthy the Demons would have won premierships in his era. Yze was a good player but soft, Oliver is at the beginning of his football career and the upside is huge. A comparison is very difficult but my football gut says Clayton Oliver will be remembered as the best number 13 to every play the game in the league.

He has no depth in his kicking and should not be in the team He misses too may getable shots as well.
  14. Some judges have him at selection 22 are they right? If so we did well at 36 to get him we have to back our Football Department who will never get it right 100% of the time. The Football Department will always have a comparisons like Parish / Oliver and Curnow /Weideman where their judgement is dependent on who has the final say in the selection?
  15. Probably 30 years ago a player who was less than 178 cm (5 foot 10 inches) and less than 78 kg would not get a look in at AFL clubs because they were considered to be too small but last 2 years the mindset has changed by coaches and smaller players who put on tackle pressure and dispose of the ball well have become the norm not the exception. Both Richmond and Western Bulldogs have created the current trend with smaller quick players playing a roll in the forward line where tackling pressure has allow the ball to remain in the forward half putting pressure on the defenders to make mistakes which result in scoring opportunities. I am not saying Spargo will make it or not but the Football Department has selected him and we should back their judgement for the time being before criticizing them. If you were told that Charlie Spargo was a top 5 - 10 selection before you knew how tall he was you would compliment the Football Department on their astute selection.

Smith will be upgraded with a pick 64 beyond 47 which we still have. We will be drafting 4 players along with Smith.

For 2013, all clubs (*except Gold Coast and GWS Giants) now operate under the following list sizes. Primary List Size Category A Rookies Category BRookies Total Rookies (Maximum) Total 38 (Minimum) 6 3 9 47 39 5 3 8 47 40 (Maximum) 4 3 7 47 * Gold Coast Suns: Primary List 42; Rookie List 9 * GWS Giants: Primary List 44-50; Rookie List 9 So that all arguments re-list sizes I have extracted the above from the AFL web site the Suns and Giants now operate under the same rules as all the other AFL teams? There's 36 on the list now including Smith. Plus 4 draft picks makes 40. Plus 4 Rookies makes 44. Yes we will be able to recruit 3 Category B rookies. If a player has played a sport other than Australian Rules in the last 3 years then they are eligible to be listed on the Category B rookies list like the international converts and basketball players but category B players cannot play unless a player on the main list is placed on the Long Term Injury list. Whereas 1 Category A rookies can be nominated after round 11.
  18. durango replied to Goffer's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes you can have 6 category A rookies if the main list is 38, the total of the main list and rookies cannot exceed 44. Thus if Melbourne uses only 3 picks the it can pick a category A rookie.

I think T Viney and/or Taylor should talk to Jordan Lewis and get his opinion whether to get him as DFA ?
  20. I think Clayton Oliver is better than Greg Healy should be in that team along with Michael Hibberd who is much better than Graeme Yeats
  21. It seems when every we make a trade all the geniuses on this site speculate we have paid over the last 3 were Melksham Hibberd and Lever. Hopefully the later will produce a season as good if not better than the other 2.
  22. Just watched Jake Lever Highlights his reading of the play is well above average and is marking is virtually one grab, not much seen re-disposal and run?
  23. Lots of good junior footballers who get drafted, never make it because some are just too lazy. They think that after getting drafted to an AFL list, their talent is enough to win them a spot on the AFL team. Clayton Oliver on the other hand has worked hard at getting his body ready for the combine after playing a season of underage football little overweight. He was made aware of the fact that he was overweight and he took it upon himself to do something about it. Players like Blease, Morton, Gysbert and Sylvia did nothing and hoped that their talent was enough.
  24. Anybody who is about 1.93 metres and can run sub 2.80 seconds for 20 metres is seriously fast.
  25. Geelong claimed Mark Blicavs via the rookie B list
