  1. I'm about to head to the G for the Bluebaggers/Poos & Wees match.

It's an interesting experience going to a match as a neutral. I suspect the highlight will be the afternoon tea. I know there will be sandwiches, party pies & liquified dust (which is supposed to be coffee). Not sure whether there will be scones ... hope so. I'm joining my MUCH OLDER friend in the 50 year section of the members.  (I don't qualify personally as I am much, much younger than him.)

To be fair, I don’t care about or give a thought to 17 of the clubs in the AFL neither.

I actually think about a number of clubs ... my anger and dislike of them occupies large amounts of my thinking time. Is that normal? Especially the filth ... and the following (in no particular order) -  Jee-long, Richmond, Essendon (although less these days cos they're pretty hopeless), Footscray.

I thought Benny Brown made the big difference for us up forward in the first two games.

I reckon this will go down to the wire unless one of Tnackers Weirdman or Fritz (I give up and will spell it like most commentators say it) kick three or four.

Covid is going to make this season  interesting.

Yeah .. God only knows how the season will play out. Makes it even more important than ever to get some early wins on the board.

  4. I think it's pretty obvious that the Club sees Weid as the future of the Club, whereas Mitch is of course a fair bit older.

Perhaps Mitch would have been selected if the opponent was a top side?

Hopefully Weid doesn't drop those sitters ... and when he gets the chance kicks straight.

I just can't accept that any game against the bombers will be easy since the top up game where they knocked us off. I was sitting on Ao Yon beach listening, staring at the water in utter disbelief.

I was at that match .... And people ask why many Demons supporters have (or at least had) MFCSS !!!

  6. Jordan was the type of player who invariably played well against us when he was with Hawthorn. Having said that plenty of players did.

He was however pretty much cooked when he came to MFC. His on ground form wasn't great when he played with the Dees. He was pretty slow, often went to ground and was undisciplined.

So, was signing him worth it?

I think so. It sent a message to the football world that a high profile player (albeit past it) was happy to come to the Club. And his background (4 flags) and football knowledge (learnings, hah) helped educate his teammates. Apparently he was pretty good directing traffic on the ground and emphasizing good training standards.

  7. So sorry for Kade.

I was effectively forced to move due to safety concerns about my former neighbour, an ex rugby player. I am pretty sure he has CTE ... his temper would escalate within seconds.

I didn't feel safe living there any more. (Long story.)

Suns would have to play a lot better than last week to challenge us, West Coast barely had a league quality midfielder (Redden was their one decent one) and they still struggled to shake them for 3 quarters. If we lose to a side that has Levi Casboult as their main key forward it’ll be an absolute shocker!

    And Chol as #2 forward.

Brad Close has kicked three goals. He could kick 10 goals and find a cure for cancer and that’s still not what he’ll be remembered for. Not by Dees fans, anyways  😉

His marvellous punch when Guthrie kicked the ball out on the full in R23?

I know of a doc who hit the kerb falling from his bike whose helmet split open  but who only had a mild headache.  He would almost certainly had a severe head injury, quite possibly death.
I certainly wouldn’t cycle without one. No guarantees but it helps.

    I had the same experience.

Without the helmet it would have been a fractured skull.

Tomlinson and Hunt were preferred selections in 2021 until they were injured.  I think of them as part of our starting back six and could easily have premiership medals if luck had gone their way.  As it was Petty and Bowey got to play instead and fully deserve their medals.

So I'm not sure Tomlinson and Hunt are just 'depth'.

I watched the replay of the R1 match. Hunt played well. Tomlinson just so/so.
