  1. Y_M, I think you just resolved all our PSD debates.

Meldrum, definately the forward pocket we're looking for.

Just be glad St Kilda doesn't have a pick ahead of us.

I think Molly would be interested in the back flank.

  2. If you have to use the abysmal expression "pinchhitter", then Yze should pinchhit at Sandy.

Wheels was tried as a midfielder years ago. The experiment was an abject failure. He is a terrific back pocket and should stay there.

Green was a great forward and should play there again. He would be good for 2-3 goals a game.

Dunn has great potential; could play anywhere, back forward and onball. Same with Bate, although I like him on the half forward line because he presents well.

Would like to see Rivers play up forward occasionally. I really liked it when he occasionally wandered up forward during matches + kicked the odd goal.

  3. bruce wins almost every 50-50 contest he is involved with and has done so consistently for 5 years now. that is his main asset as a player!

how people can suggests he shirks contests simply has no idea, and honestly must not be watching any of the melbourne games

Were you at the Port game? Cam used to be my favourite player. I still like him, but he clearly shirked a contest in that match. I think it was the last qtr - ball kicked to forward pocket. He was opposed by 2 players. He was never going to mark it, but he didn't even make a contest. Effectively stood back and watched.

In that qtr he kicked to Aaron Davey at FF who was outnumbered 3/4 to 1. That possibly wasn't his (Cam's) fault because he looked up and no-one was there other than Aaron. I did think however that Flash made a better attempt to make a contest than his more experienced teammate in the incident referred to above.

  4. I watched the match from MCC members with my thirdborn (9 years old) and a few other supporters. The atmosphere was really friendly. Because there were so few people there, it was easy to strike up conversations - there was the couple behind me, the older guy along the row who kept bagging Cameron Bruce and the bloke in front of me who I suspect was Dr Turf.

A win would have topped the day off.

  5. How often in footy does the wounded under-dog snatch a win under adversity.

Hopefully we come out firing on all cylinders and not take them easy.

However I agree that out of all the teams, St.Kilda is the perfect round 1 opponent in terms of lack of preparation.

Mate, overall (i.e all teams) not very often, but in the past Demons have dropped too many of this type of game.
