As soon as I heard that Australia won the toss and sent England in, I knew we'd lose. Paine, Langer et al obviously engaged Baldrick to assist them to make that decision. "I have a cunning plan..." And it has turned out like that.

I read the match report of Brisvegas v GWS in The Age. Stef Martin was not listed in the best players (about 8 of them). WTF? He was just about BOG.

Useless facts #2344, 2345 ... et al My son played junior footy with him years ago. His father was my dentist until he retired recently. He was a nice boy. His father is a top bloke. He was very unhappy at GWS years ago when he was repeatedly dropped. Wanted to come home. (Melbourne boy.) He cemented a place in the GWS side, but possibly being dropped for a final will rekindle his desire to come home.

They've won a flag more recently than MFC. And played in GFs more recently than us ... came very close to winning one too. Unlike MFC's 2 grand final debacles.

I bumped into Marty Hore, his parents and some friends of his parents at The Convent in Abbotsford this arvo. (I was at the tail end of a bike ride.) They obviously called in there for a coffee after the Casey Match at Victoria Park. When I realised who he was I said "hey you should have been playing yesterday" to which all of them (including Marty) replied YES !! (quite indignantly). Clearly not happy that Marty hadn't been selected. A very nice young man.

He was VERY unhappy at GWS when he wasn't getting a regular game and wanted to come home. He's a regular starting 18 player now though, so I'd be surprised if he came home when GWS could snag a flag within the next few years.
