  1. go sit in the naughty corner and think about what you said. Have you lost your mind. I am not an avid TV watcher but there are two shows I don't miss - GOT and Last week tonight.
  2. you are dead to me, Tim.
  3. Left for dead - nekk minut - he pops up in a religious cult chopping wood and then found by Beric Dondarrion. Glad he is still in the series - my second favourite for the amusing quip behind Tyrion.
  4. Saw them at the Holler festival at the caravan club on a warm Saturday afternoon. They blew everyone away. They are selling out show after show - after seeing them I understand why.
  5. New kids on the block ( a statement - not the horrible boy band) If anyone gets a chance to see the Teskey Brothers I highly recommend they do. They are the bom-diggerty.
  6. okay...so I was interested and went along to see The Tiger Lillies on Sunday night. They have been doing their act for 27 years ! Truly bizarre and truly brilliant. (most of the night I was thinking - "what the hell am I watching?")
  7. He has been great and I love his desperation. Even when he knows he is too far behind to spoil in a marking contest he will still rush up and create pressure. (something both Mac's need to do more). The tackle count is mystifying to me as well. I shout at players to tackle instead of corralling the opposition It is my pet hate - I would prefer to be burned on the odd occasion by over-committing rather than corralling the opposition and let them waltz untouched one end of the ground to the other. If you know that a player won't put physical pressure on you already have the players measure. Having said that I can't recall Hibberd doing excessive corralling as opposed to tackling.
  8. Young KPP take time and I do believe that he has been given games due to our lack of depth of tall backs. He played well in the second half. One part of his game I would like him to improve in - and there is no better player to watch and learn from than Hibberd. Even when beaten on the lead or second to the ball, Hibberd will put body pressure on the opposition and make his opponent earn a mark - more often than not bringing him to ground. It is a fine line between body pressure and coming in late but OMac too often slows down to the contest once he is convinced his opponent will mark the ball and go into "corral mode" too quickly. You need to make an opponent sweat a bit. He will learn.
  9. It just shows you that you need all moving parts of a club working. It really does defy belief how the Eagles won the premiership in 2006 with all that was apparently going on.
  10. When you think about it ( and I am sure that other people those two brought in were also part of the revival) it is hard to imagine that all it has taken is two professional people to turn around the stinkhole that was our club.
  11. It has got to be both talent and development but I could not agree more on the first line. Putting talent into the cesspool of a club we were and it expecting it to thrive is just nonsensical. I think the club structure that Roos put in place and his emphasis on development ( and the coaches he has employed to do the developing) will be his lasting legacy.
  12. Went to absolute sensational gig at the Caravan Club on Saturday night - Gregory Page - solo. Only 40 people in the audience - must be the time of the year. He was captivating and made you feel he was singing to you and you alone. ( any Sydney'ites - he is on at Leadbelly Newton on the 12th Jan - if roots ( if 1930's jazz is your thing - he is the bomdiggety)
  13. Caravan Club are doing their first festival and it is going to be a rip snorter - in particular three of my favourites are playing - The backsliders, Jeff lang and Chris Russell's chicken walk.
  14. Great weekend of music. Saw Vika and Linda Bull for the umpteenth time - man can those ladies sing...wowee.. The surprise packet for me was Henry Wagons ( who I have not see before) who crosses so many genres - he stalked the stage like a caged animal - he was fantastic
  15. Hardtack has already mentioned this one but I watch "Hunt for the Wilderpeople" over the weekend. An absolute pearler....
  16. seeing Ben Folds with a chamber orchestra on Friday night - should be a pearler (yes Tim - i will get to my favourite alltime albums - so many to choose from)
  17. I agree. Interested in your take on development - how much weight do you give to the development team ( and the work they have done) since Roos has come to the club. My feeling has been that in the past we have taken draft picks and said "sink or swim" whereas the Roos era has been about further education.
  18. Just as easy to say - Judging drafting on the output of players who are no older than 21 is premature in the extreme.
  19. I was about to post the same but I thought it was too much of a "dad joke" .
  20. the problem is not what we offer Freo - its what we have to offer Fyfe in terms of dollars and our cap.
  21. I don't have insight into how we divvy up our salaries but my inkling is what you have said. Fyfe would get a contract making him in the top 10 paid footballers in the AFL. We will be paying a big sum to Hogan - then we have Jones on a big sum and then with all the rising stars we have - we assume they will continue their progression and we have to pay to retain. Would love him - don't see how we can fit him in..
  22. italy for 3 and half weeks.
  23. Okay - I am a man with a short attention span and commitment issues. I am devoted to Game of Thrones and that is pretty much it however we are going away for almost a month over September ( I got that right...) - what series should I download and take with me ?
  24. Big statement - Unfortunately his old man has blight on his career which I do not think defined him - but otherwise Steven Stretch was a great player - good skills, fast, but could take a very good mark which I dont think will be Billy's go - that's not to say Billy will not be a good player
  25. I don't write players off as quickly as some (ok...I'm guilty of not writing off players at all when I should !). In my mind I was not sure that Billy would make it - has some pace but not lightening and not tall so marking is not one of his features. I was trying to figure out his strong suite but was struggling. I have been pleasantly surprised with his progress. His strength is he can find space and does run to good spots and when he gets the ball he is very neat by hand and foot. He won't be a contested ball beast but he goes when he it is his turn to go. I am hoping his form will continue to improve as we have the inside grunt players - we need some silk on the outside and Billy is providing that.
