  1. umm... must be a repeat offender. My squeezes son was in Tramps two or three weeks ago-Dane Swan was there at about 2am drinking and at 4am none other than Brock McLean doing the same.
  2. Major difference between Cale Morton and Didak- I cheered Didaks's injury because he has made a career of being a niggly little b#@$tard even taking it one further or not only getting into players but also the crowd. This has settled down in the last couple of season since he cant get a game - I dont wish anyone permanent harm but if Didak comes back for his first game against us next Queens Birthday and pings a hammy I will cheer again. You reap what you sow .(as hypocritcal as it sounds I wouldnt cheer if he was stretchered offbut a pinged hammy or groin ? meh) There are a handful of footballers who fall into that category - 99% of footballers who get injured I would not cheer. I didnt cheer Cale going off and didnt hear it - as he went off I actually felt sorry for him becuase I really want him to do well
  3. I have rarely seen umpiring over the course of a game cost a team a game. We tend to focus on the last decision made yet there were plenty of wrong decision both ways in the previous 3 quarters to both teams. I will say that recent umpiring has taken enjoyment out of the game for me because they get it so badly wrong so often. Schmidt was horrific on Sunday for both teams.(the Grimes decision in the first quarter was an absolute howler) I understand that the best combination of umpires do the finals but it gets right up my nose that they get it so glaringly right during this period. They seem to add the highly sensible reasoning during finals " if i am not sure or it has no material impact on the game then dont blow the whistle" - if only they could so that week in and week out.
  4. He finds too much of the ball to be like Presti
  5. On Jack Grimes- first quarter - how ohh how can backing back into a player with eyes firmly on the ball and copping knees in the back in an unrealistic attempt to mark be deemed a push against Grimes by Schmidt. Sooooo clueless.
  6. These big blokes take time to come on ( the likes of NikNat are freaks). He didnt look as lost yesterday and wants to do the right things - the shepherd/block on the members wing in the first quarter was a gem.
  7. I think he is majorly unfit and needs to clean up his work by foot. He needs to do a full preseason and have a decent run with injuries. I'm not sure he will ever bulk up as many here are advocating but either did Michael Tuck and it didnt affect his career. The major plus for him is he has a nice ability to find the ball and the ball finding him.
  8. umm and with a hand and wrist injury you pull and push on weights how ? ( have I walked head first into sarcasm?)
  9. yeah he would have. Bennell could be anything. For what its worth - we were ordinary after halftime - our position on the ladder is what our position on the ladder is - we played that way - bennell was by far the best player on the ground with Ablett just behind - apart from that Caddy was ok and then zip for them - we had by far the better "team" on the ground. (take our two best off the ground - Jones/Green and we would have still won - take Bennell and Ablett out of GC and they would have been smashed by a million goals or thereabouts) - Green celebrating was great - we were pilloried earlier in the year for kicking a goal and not one team mate acknowledging it - we dont have much to celebrate but we should enjoy every positive and acknowledge them
  10. We need to draft for the future - Dustin Fletcher- has 10 good years left in him
  11. laughed until i did something I havent done since I was 5 years old. embarrassed.
  12. I am firmly in the maybe camp on evidence. A year ago I would have said "Surely a club couldnt be that stupid to have any incriminating evidence"- that was right up until Tommy Voldemort flatly denied that any contact had been made with himself or his family or agent and 6 months later the AFL says " Sorry GWS, Fat Phil who you hired 12 months ago is part of your salary cap". Clubs can be that stupid. Edit: after having re-read I think I still have to go with "Surely a club couldnt be that stupid"
  13. I don't see the correlation. Vlad can only act on hard evidence not suspicion or on how it looked. As I said above there will be more casualties than us if he acts purely on suspicion.
  14. I would think that McLean would have to confirm that they were directed to underperform and Bailey would have to confirm it - or there would have to be something about our "strategy" in writing. If they were to act on suspicions or even appearances then there are a few clubs in trouble. I agree with you BH.
  15. I'm still chewing over "the proof of the putting is in the eating" (post 14)
  16. I would suggest that if Chopper was once part of the criminal gang and then comes out and says "yeah they did it" - it certainly wouldnt be helpful.
  17. This is where it is ludicrous and naivety of the highest order- you can be at as much pain to point out you are only a supporter and have no official capacity but the reason for him being interviewed is because he was MFC President. That part of your life doesnt wash away just because you are no longer in office. Every time another underworld figure gets bumped off Chopper Reid is not interviewed because he is an interested onlooker - he is interviewed because he was a criminal.
  18. To reiterate- no trouble in any quarters at all except that I published without getting express permission. I should have done so.
  19. The opposition certainly know about him. Countless times I have seen him being blocked (illegally) from taking a run at the high ball.
  20. That is gold. Am I allowed to use that ?
  21. so many shades of grey to this poll (fifty I beleive...mmmmm). But I will take all questions at sensible face value. I will take it that foreign positions doesnt include Jetta rucking against Sandilands. Also older players being dropped for youth -ie dropping Rivers now as he is playing well. Having said that- there was one example not given Jurrah kicking three quick ones against StKilda and looking the difference between the two teams and then being benched for almost a quarter. I'll stick my neck out -This one event that has been mentioned that Bailey did is tanking to lose a game of the highest order IF and I stress IF the incident happened as mentioned ( I have a foggy memory) with no rational explanation (injury ?). It has hard to draw any other inference than "the game was getting a wee bit too close" so we better get this match winner off.
  22. Look carefully at what Paul Johnson said. That is how to answer a question regarding this situation. He answered honestly without embellishment and left drawing of conclusions to people other than himself. Cudo's Paul Johnson.
  23. Actually on rethought it is not fair enough- I should have got express permission from Paul to post and I didnt and for this I apologise to this forum and Paul. There has been more correspondence between Paul and myself and he is disappointed that I posted it. (and before anyone asks, his tone was of disappointment- nothing more than that). All I will say on the last response is our positions are not any closer aligned
  24. on any emails I send out regarding football (and there have been a few!) I add something along the lines of this I am an active member of the Demonland community and as a courtesy I am printing your response to me on our supporter boards as many supporters are disillusioned with your actions and want answers As an aside - Paul was quite happy to face the public and give his comments and now you believe that he shouldnt stand scrutiny because of a differing opinion ?I also have tried to get to Mike Sheahan and ask why he didnt follow up Brock McLean "integrity" reponse with " how did you feel then going to Carlton who have been accused of doing exactly the same thing as the club you have left". No response to date.
  25. And whether you are right or indeed his intentions were honorable, unfortunately for Paul Gardner, I think that 99% of supporters would share your view word for word.
