  1. and call it Warrick Capper
  2. I've been pressuring turds since 64' and I am seeing bupka's - not a diamond anywhere to be found
  3. Yes...I think thats the answer...
  4. Have no problem with him being interviewed at all -its what you say. It could have been worse. " the boys may have got ahead of themselves after the emphatic win against GWS last week"
  5. you can't polish a turd
  6. I dont think you need five years to see improvement. I would not be unhappy with Hardwick's progress as long as the Tiges improve again next year and play finals.
  7. oopps- ok I know what your thinking but the football has all but removed that. Let me rephrase- I have a staffordshire bull terrier
  8. I've got a Staffy - no matter how much training I give the little bugger, he just refuses to run like a greyhound.
  9. ummm I think you may have inadvertently given yourself the answer in your first sentence. Neeld shaped a premiership midfield at Collingwood with "handy players" and then comes to Melbourne.Instead of asking yourself "is the absense of handy players hindering our success" you go with communications must be breaking down.
  10. If you want to take a poll of the right or wrong to date I would say pointless but you can make a comparison and I think NN has had a bigger impact. There has been enough time to judge ? At risk of repeating myself- for every really good KPP who have delivered by 21 I will give you 5 other really good KPP's who didnt start to deliver consistently until 23 . The key forward who tore us a new one yesterday drafted a year ahead of Watts and has only started to show any sort of consistency this year at age 22.(in and out his first year, dropped in 2010 and dropped last year as well)
  11. hindcasting- you forgot to add irritating, grating and plain annoying. If I had the tattslotto numbers for tomorrow night now I would be sure of getting some sort of payout. Gee Nasher, I wish you had posted this on this thread before this thread was started.
  12. Maybe -but when he does do what he does do it is damn delightful.(say that 10 times fast)
  13. If we win the easter bunny will be chaired off the ground on Santa Claus' and no child shall live in poverty by the turn of the century shoulders.
  14. What is for sure and certain -since the day dot coaches have been copping it in the neck for insipid performances on the field by players-much easier to sack one coach than 22 players.
  15. This is where I am at - Have no problem in anyone going elsewhere for money but the same way as I invest emotionally in my football, I invested emotionally in the character and truthful utterings of Tom Scully. I got badly burned. Now, any player who says that they "just want to play football and will let the contract sort itself out at the end of the season" I take it as given that they are gorn until I hear otherwise. My motto now is "talk is cheap-show me ink on paper". I am now 100% cynic and will never be taken in by "talk" again.
  16. That was "tongue placed firmly in cheek" - however I am bemused by some on here that constantly suggest that most problems associated with onfield performances are caused by everyone except those who are actually on the field.
  17. Surely you have forgotten to mention the calibre of the students
  18. We still want to deflect from the real cause of our problems - you can't pull up socks if you are not wearing any in the first place. How would you we know if Royal is good or not ? By the results? - if that is the case everyone from the head coach down is in trouble. Why are we all so afraid to lay blame squarely where it belongs - Cameron Schwab - ooops, sorry, different thread.
  19. I have no problem with Cam Bruce at all. The club exits players as they see fit with little sentimentality - some are done well, others not so well - most are done with the wellbeing of the club not the player in mind. Some players have played very hard ball on contracts and left finalisation to the death knell or float "other clubs want me for big dollars" to maximise the contract- Cam Bruce has done it, Aaron Davey did it and so did Brad Green - again I dont have a problem with it. Its a professional sport where players contracts and the clubs needs are dictated by demand and supply. I am sure Sam Blease earned extra dollars on his contract because of perceived demand for his services. I am equally sure Joel McDonald would do anything to sign any sort of contract right now. Its the way of the world.
  20. As an aside - there were a number of clubs that made a loss last year. That means they were technically did not have the revenue to cover their TPP whatever it was. (if not the TPP then some other expense). Port Adelaide is a prime example. Any club that makes a loss by definition has more expenses than revenue and by further definition having something(s) in their expense column that they just cant afford. So bottom line is that we will always be able to pay 100% TPP by either generating enough revenue to cover it or by making a loss (this can only be sustained so long until the AFL stops bailing us out)
  21. WYL - the regret the Bailey felt with the Junior decision is that it was left so late in the season to tell him his time was up - Bailey reiterated that he did not think the decision itself was wrong just the lateness and that no indication had previously been given to him that he would not go on. This is a really difficult issue. Junior is a different kettle of fish to say Lynden Mo-less-Boy. Dunny would not and should not be told until seasons end whether or not he goes on. LD decision is not based on age, soundness of body but purely form. Whether or not he gets another gig, I think everyone will agree that 3 months ago you would have said he's gone but he has shown better form of late and may indeed get another contract. I think veterans need to be handled differently. I do not advocate as some do that they should "go out on their own terms" as some don't believe their time is up when it actually is.If my memory serves me right White and Robbo muttered about nominating for the draft after we told them their time is up. I do think though, the button needs to pushed earlier than seasons end and discussions as to thinking of the club on the veteran so it can be handled with some dignity as the Green retirement has been. At the end of the day - you may still get disagreement between club and player on when time is up.
  22. I agree - Being President is about carefully choosing words so you send an unambiguous message. With no insight at all, I would doubt (read "hope like hell") that we would have problems paying 100% TPP. Fans message above says to me that we are in good shape but if you give you will help us get a bigger brighter shinier and more successful club. Its semantics I know, but we have now have 150 posts basically arguing over semantics
  23. Steady there Robbie - Tynan is a good West Gippy boy - we are all dressed by op shops in West Gippy.
  24. Biffen and Hardeman were pretty much before Flowers time. Templeton,Jackson and Williams were all full forwards - so its pretty hard for Flower to spot them up from the half back flank. And Andy Moir !!! Took 5 of the greatest hangers you would ever want to see and that was about it.
  25. ummm no ?
