Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
nutbean replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Because they are guilty as hell. I have never said Essendon are not guilty. I am asking a genuine question around what can be proven. -
I think Jason Dunstall has a bit of affection for the Dees

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
nutbean replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sure.. There you go. You're welcome. -
Yeah I did watch the first half and everyone was truly horrible, You are just seeing stuff that I don't see but hey - we all have our opinions. On Chris Dawes - if everyone took a leaf out of Dawes effort and presence book we would be playing finals this year. ( Nutbeans prayer - dear lord - please give Jeremy Howes hands to Chris Dawes - amen)
-
Well that ain't gonna happen so if he is waiting for that - then he better have a rethink. Best case scenario is that Roos will commit to his 3rd year option before the end of the year and that will prompt Chip to sign.

Interestingly the commentary team had a go at Dawes for where he ran to. It made perfect sense to me - Dawes made Hibbert make a choice - run to Dawes or Salem. In the end he got caught standing between the two. Dawes job was to cause separation and he did that to a tee.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Which world are you living in ? A president of the United States went through impeachment because they had records ( tapes) and then they didn't have records ( deleted 18 minutes). I am tipping that shredders may have been in full swing in possibly a few clubs. -
Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Thanks for that - makes perfect sense to me. From my reading - the proof of transgressing - governance, integrity, management and administration - seems undeniable. The actual drug breaches - I would hope that they require proof of this before handing out punishments. -
The guru, Roos, did say that we should be judged after 7 rounds. Damn, that boy is smart.

I would hope they have some proof pointing to the taking of banned drugs before punishing. -

If no one knows what drugs are administered then how can the players be guilty ? ( or Danks and Robinson know but refuse to divulge). As a player, I would want to see proof that the drugs taken were illegal before accepting ( or not challenging ) any penalty. You can throw the book at the administration for overseeing a supplement regime with no controls - it brings the game into disrepute, However if no-one can prove that a banned drug was taken then you can't punish the players. -
Without doing the addition, I was going to comment that it is nice to see that so many people think that different players deserve votes - that points to an even contribution.

You had me right up until Spud Dullard.

Can you please put a comma in the appropriate place or else you are starting to worry me.

I watched the clip again ( actually numerous times) and was blown away by the precision but two little things I noticed - watch where Tommy Mac is just before the Jones kicks up to the Frawley contest. Big cudo's to him to getting back to that contest to provide the outlet for McKenzies handpass. After 120 minutes of football he had to have worked hard to join that contest. - even better - there is a wide angle shot of that Frawley contest - watch how far back Viney and Cross are coming from and how hard they are sprinting down the centre of the ground. I know that all the pieces fell into place but that was gut running that was rewarded. I would show that wide angle clip of those two boys doing that over and over and over again.

I may be the odd one out - having watched live footy for the best part of 40 years I reckon every team has it's share of horrific supporters. Its probably a case of which supporters we are exposed to the most - in my case, I have seen the arrogance of Carlton supporters over the years purely because I know so many of them. I was very embarrassed by the behaviour of Melbourne supporters in the 2000 GF (I was sitting in amongst a large group as I got tickets through the club) after Michael Long took out Simmonds.

I would be very surprised if we weren't. But the candidates wouldn't have to give a reply until seasons end.

That was Riley
-
I don't mind his game when he doesn't have too much time to think. His handpass in the last chain that resulted in the Salem goal was beautiful. (in fact have a look a everyone's involvement in that chain - Pedo, Jones, Frawley, McKenzie, Tommy Mac, Viney and Cross to Salem - Roos was right - our best piece of offensive play for the year and what a time to produce it)
-
They are really paying some stinkers this year. The rule is policed poorly and is reflective of umpires having never played the game. If you turn towards the boundary line you are opening yourself up to trouble.I really believe this rule should be policed very leniently and unless it is absolutely 100% obvious then throw it in.
-
Okay - now you are getting a little creepy

Someone mentioned poor body language from Frawley ? Let's revisit this after last night. His unbridled joy after the win and in the singing of the club song was palpable. I thought he worked really hard last night. There was no better indication of this than the last Kent goal. Watching the replay, Frawley was sprinting his guts out to catch up on the outside of Kent, I suspect to help if the Kent run went pear shaped. ( not sure he could have caught up to provide an option). He may well be gone but I don't think he is playing football with a "switched off " attitude.

Agree. If you are pressuring hard enough to execute quite a few smothers it not only impacts that play but has the opposition rushing their next disposals because "the opposition are on, they are throwing themselves across our boots - better dispose a bit quicker"
-
With no real preseason I still don't think that Riley is match hardened. I would not sub him - he needs more time playing time not less - so either play him ( not sub) or drop him.
-
Its not a coincidence. Now Essendon did miss some gimme's but I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago and it still holds true. Taking the Eagles game out of the equation, there hasn't been too many easy hit up leads into our defensive 50. Roos has concentrated on two defensive aspects - firstly - our mids are pressuring the opposition ball carriers going into their forward line so there is not a great deal of unpressured entries. Secondly - we are now leaving very little space inside the corridor. I know that modern football does hug the boundary but so many opposition shots are coming in from 45 degrees or worse. Roos has mentioned that our team is making opposition take shots from difficult positions.
