  1. Wow ! IF Frawley has pre arranged a deal with another club I'm dead certain he would have told no-one let alone anyone at the MFC. Frawley is a professional football, who is not allowed to make "pre-arranged deals". ( I am not naive to suggest that this does not happen) Summary - wow !
  2. "ohhh Chappy Chappy Chappy - why did you only jog behind Tom Mac when he sprinted 40 metres to get to the last contest. ohhh Chappy Chappy Chappy - why were you 10 metres behind Tommy Mac when he received the handball from Jordie, ran inside and dished off to Tyson. ohhh Chappy Chappy Chappy"
  3. No it is not to hard to argue with that all. That is why games aren't won by stats - the only stat that matters is who got the higher score at the end of the game.I used to watch Joel Bowden at Richmond constantly get 30 meaningless disposals. Everyone is pointing to the inside 50 differential stat - watch the game and listen to bomber - "not sure who taught them to get the ball and bomb it long onto the heads of our forwards". Doesn't matter how many inside 50's they had - if they continue to dispose of it into the forward line in the manner they did - then their results will continue to be the same. They kicked poorly from straight in front. The kicked poorly from angles. They bombed the ball in long too often. They missed targets way too often. Our defense was superb - it was helped by horrible kicking into their 50. Stats mean plenty if they are looked at in conjunction with the game - they can tell a story. Look at them in isolation and you get conclusions like " the next time we get stats like that we will get smashed".
  4. How about we don't trade Hogan and make a play for Fyfe ? ( remembering that Roos likes to keep a happy camp by not paying gazillions to secure a Buddy) How about we back the club to do its best to keep the players it wants to keep. The philosophy of "he might leave so lets trade him now" infuriates me.
  5. This is such a redundant post. 2010 - Dunn is injured but returning - who would you drop to make way for him - absolutely nobody 2014 - Dunn is injured but returning - who would you drop to make way for him - absolutely everybody Trengove showed immense talent in his first two years - if he comes back to that form he would walk back into the side - if he shows the same form from this year and last he will struggle - yikes - now I am making redundant statements !
  6. Gifted two of them. But I agree with you on Frawleys AA year - he was tremendous that year and I believe his "butchering" has been more in recent times. On butchering Some players are just very poor or unrealiable kicks and always will be however I believe we will see less butchering as we improve. - good teams like Hawthorn run and spread harder giving more separation - means you can have a wider margin for error on your kicking because your player is in more space - I believe the main reason for butchering is the amount of time players play with each other, the understanding of the gameplan and the confidence and knowledge in knowing exactly what your teammates are going to do. Hawthorn have great kicks in their side but they also have the utmost confidence in what their teammate is going to do. - butchering goes hand in hand with poor decision making. Poor decisions in many cases is lack of confidence or confusion over where your teammate will be. I know that the Hawks and Geelong draft good kicks and decision makers but it is much about confidence in the gameplan and their teammates. I watch Rivers with interest and his disposal was average with us and has improved at Geelong. It is easy to understand why. He can shut his eyes and kick to a spot and have faith that his teammate will be there.
  7. I think we get lost in the difference between overrated and not playing well/lost form. I think overrated is when you play a couple of good games and the expectation is you will be the next messiah and this doesn't come to fruition - Gysberts comes to mind ( for the record I was sucked in as well). Frawley had two years where he played outstanding football - followed by two very inconsistent years. The talent was obviously there and was consistently on display during his AA year. You just don't trade out those sort of players especially when we have such a good development team in place now.
  8. I wonder if a certain poster will change his tune on our "incompetent" medical team and suggest that they have moved to Hawthorn who have a horrific injury list.
  9. I think its simpler than that. We have a coach who has instilled self belief and confidence in players and mixed that with some good footy education.
  10. I think he will swing both ways (wait..you know what I mean)
  11. I'm with you. I dont want an early draft pick - I want him to stay. Only IF he decides to move on ( and I think he should be offered good coin to stay) would I then consider what he is worth and if we got pick 5 then that would be good.

  13. Compare 99% of the leagues body language to Dawes and you''ll get the same answer. He is just a contest animal. I don't think his body language has been bad this year and no one can be blamed for dropping their heads towards the end of last years debacle ( well they can be blamed but it is semi understandable)
  14. We havent required him down back and we need him down forward where he has been ok. It is a rare commodity that can both ends.
  15. I say we keep him too.
  16. I would be upset if we lost him. We have taken a defender who has been less than average over the last two years (besides Jones and Dunn - who hasn't ?) and put him to the hardest position on the ground with a new coach and game plan and a new ( and developing ) midfield feeding him the ball. I think he has done remarkably well and will only get better. I am not sure why people don't believe that under a Roos regime he cant get back to AA form ? I think it is easier to predict someone with talent and a former AA regaining that form than trying to suggest that someone who has never been that talented reaching those heights.
  17. I said categorically above that I wouldn't trade him for pick 5 and I think he will be vital to Roos plans going forward. I wouldn't trade him at all. But if he were to leave - understanding the formula and what other clubs have got for free agents - pick 5 would be good. I am not sure we would do better than a first rounder.
  18. I think he can be a giant in a Roos team
  19. I would be happy if we got pick 5 if he wants to leave. I wouldn't swap him for pick 5. Does that make sense ?
  20. I dont think it was a matter of believing in the principle - as Bomber has said - they were ill disciplined and got sucked up into the contest.
  21. He is playing the hardest position on the ground and averaging over 8 marks a game. Now i know we chip the ball around a lot but he didnt average that in his AA year. I seriously believe people are marking him down because of him not signing a new contract. I would love to here Roos thoughts on giving him a pay cut and picking up 5 as compensation. I suspect he may have a different view.
  22. You seriously rate him that poorly that you would offer him a pay cut ? Unbelievable.
  23. precision kicking in those times was more of a rarity. Barassi was hardly a pinpoint kick. Bang the ball onto the boot and let the next in the chain battle it out.
