  1. I would think that if Frawley goes it will be to either a Freo or a Hawthorn - it maybe that he leaves for more money but he will get good coin from a successful team rather than going to the Saints or a GWS. At his age I think playing finals is a motivating factor ( if you throw in good money as well) As to Hogan - Freo can offer him a zillion dollars - he only gets to Freo if we let him go to Freo.
  2. They still have plenty of talent - and Ross Lyon has shown that he maybe cant win the big one but he consistently gets teams playing finals.
  3. they were ok at soundwave - but not a patch on Rob Zombie.
  4. Really ? So he is like Bradshaw at the Lions ? Injured, suspended or stink it up for the year and then turn it on in the last weekend in September ? Ross Lyon - you are truly a genius.
  5. And it tells me what it always tells me . Chip has never been good in front of the camera. Look at any Frawley interview and it is full of umms and ahhs and stutters. The man has never been a natural media performer. Doesn't mean he is staying or going - I just wouldn't read into his body language at all.
  6. But its true. Why do posters lose sleep over players re-signing ? It is out of everyones control except the player. Players will re-sign, players will leave, we will trade in and trade out. Thats the way of the AFL and I wont lose a minute sleep over Frawley signing or not signing.
  7. Dont disagree with any of that . What I do disagree with is trading out a player because you don't think you can keep him in two years time !!!
  8. You also said stated that Roos would never coach Melbourne. It is what it is.
  9. he strikes me as a nine inch nails type of guy
  10. maybe again but apparently he got a good offer from Carlton ( rumour unconfirmed). There has been comment on here on various occasions at various times that we should trade out a player for a good deal before they leave the club anyway- I just dislike the defeatist attitude
  11. correct - but we cant assume anyone had the whip hand. And in free agency the player absolutely has the upper hand.
  12. Maybe premeditated but we have got to snuff out that mentality - Watts put off his talks and ended up signing.
  13. I don't like this thinking. As a club we need to have confidence that we will keep our good players - not have the philosophy of get what we can now because he is going to walk in two years time anyway.
  14. Mitch isn't a dill. Unless he is confirming he is coming back to us then he will be in civvies.
  15. We have no idea what he was offered.
  16. If he does a full preseason.....
  17. Not sure that was why he didn't get a game under Neeld. A little slow and not particularly good by foot. But the mystery is why he had 3 quite good opening games in the middle and then moved on as a defensive forward - it wasn't like we had an abundance of in and under footballers?
  18. There is a very large difference IMO. They have asked McKenzie to not only stop but also get more of the footy and kick a few more goals ( paraphrasing what you reported earlier). The reports on McKenzie and where he has been playing at Casey - they are not changing his role - just asking him to do more in the role that suits him best. I would think that they would like him to be more in the Daniel Cross mould - even though Cross isnt kicking goals - he stopping his opponent and causing damage of his own by getting plenty of the ball. They took Magner who was an onballer with grunt ( and yes - a little slow and with average disposal) and saw some success early on and then played him as a defensive forward. A rather large change in role.
  19. Disagree - He is an unrestricted free agent and holds all the cards. I suggest 3 things have happened - he has told his manager he wants to stay, his manager has told him what he can get outside the MFC, we have given either more, the same or slightly less but not enough to make him change clubs. When it comes to free agents within our club, the club is certainly not calling the shots ( except to the extent of telling players - here is the offer - take it or leave)
  20. I don't pot players and call for delistings ( I do obviously discuss strengths and weaknesses of players - and you wont find any posts by me calling for Dunn's head previously) but I think most on here would agree that up until the last 2 and a bit seasons Dunn's name would have come up at end of year coaches discussions about keeping or delisting. His career to an extent mirrors Matthew Bates and Dunn was fortunate at the end of his last contract that he put together a string of good form. By his own admission the thing he needed to work on was the gap between his good and bad and that is exactly what he has done. He is now 27. In a good team he may have improved earlier and that's something we don't know. But he is also fortunate that over the last 5 years we were bereft of real talent or he may not have made it to the last two seasons. I am very pleased that for the last 2 and bit seasons he is repaying us for his patchy form up until that time.
  21. To see where has come from to his last few seasons is truly amazing. Good re-signing.
  22. Not sure but it is a nice conundrum to have. I am like everyone else have the dramatic rise in the Pederson contributions - I am not as convinced as others that he now purely a forward. I love the versatility that Frawley and Pedo can play at either end of the ground ( and Pedo pinch hit in the ruck)
  23. I rarely commit but I will put hard earned on it that he will NOT turn up wearing MFC attire.
  24. I agree with that - but Dawes ( like all number one forwards) also attracts the number one defender and as we have seen - is often double teamed. The sad thing about Cloke - 3 years ago he used to run his opponents off their feet. He was dangerous close to goal but also used to run up to the wing. That has stopped and he is now one dimensional. ( I hope he is one dimensional on Monday). Side note - that is why it is disappointed that Clark is not playing - who do you send the number one defender to ? Will be happy with Frawley continuing to improve as a forward and Hogan coming in. Will give the opposition a tremendous headache - do you send your third best defender to Dawes, Frawley or Hogan ?
  25. No more or less than every other team.
