  1. Rnd 22 1987 and the following 2 finals. This era could finally top it though.
  2. And Langdon
  3. If I had of known they were giving out Melbourne scarves at the ground I would have donated my collection. I feel like I’d have one for the first 3,000 through the turnstiles
  4. In 2013 anything under a ten goal loss I took as a moral victory. We have come a long way.
  5. Nice article on Harrison Petty. You’d think the eventual heir apparent to Steven May’s spot. In the meantime doing a brilliant as the third wheel. Has really good hands https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1007940/the-third-wheel-back-up-backman-playing-his-role
  6. I like Maynard and he would make us better. However I would rather use whatever space is left in the cap or draft position to target a mid. I think it is a bigger priority for us
  7. Whereas since Rnd 15 we have played 5 top 8 sides (Bombers, GWS, Port, Dogs and Cats). Six if you include the Eagles in Perth who were in the 8 at the time. It has to be better to have that run than a whole lot of easy games, doesn’t it?
  8. I was 256 days old. The Grand final in 1964 was apparently on September 19
  9. Not really having a crack at Stanley. Maxy juggled the ball a bit, any player could have at least bumped him. Hawkins is a huge unit and he was doing FA in that play. I hate Hawkins so I blame him. Honestly it could be the beginning of the end of this Cats era and it’s all Tom Hawkins fault.
  10. And topping off the perfect night - No injuries
  11. Agree, great kick from Lever. But then how the Cats left the biggest man on the ground on his own, in space, when every player was in our fwd 50 is mind blowing.
  12. At Adelaide Oval Melbourne 7 wins 5 losses Brisbane 2 wins 6 losses
  13. How good to wake up this morning and your first thought is of last nights game. Bliss
  14. Love how it is after midnight and there are still 86 members on here.
  15. Also agree but I’m fairly philosophical about it. Between our lack of injuries this year, timely injuries to opposition players and other results often falling our way this is about as lucky as I can remember us being. So much so I have dropped the toast on the floor a couple of times just to make sure it still landed butter side down.
  16. I assume there is a Geelong version of MFCSS but they just expect everything to go right?
  17. Im someone who suffers badly from MFCSS but both Port and Dogs looked sh1thouse last night. If we play either of them, and they dished that sort of form up, even I am confident we would beat them pretty easily.
  18. Dogs are as reliant on Bont as tigers are on Dusty

If they do bring the GF forward, and thus dispensing with the byes altogether, then winning the Qualifying Final will be crucial. Going straight into the Prelim with a week off would be a huge advantage
  20. Port Douglas and an interstate member. Hoping that I could fly down and see Melbourne play a final at the Gabba

A very cursory look at the stats would indicate that Adelaide Oval is the place for us having a 7-5 winning record there. Of all teams we are the 4th winningest at Adelaide. At the Gabba we have a 11-15 ranking us 11th Optus we are 2-3 making us 10th Alice would be ok at 3-4 as long as we didn’t have to play Port who we have lost to 3-0 We suck at Metricon ranking 15th of the 18 teams (Gold Coast ranking 18th!)
  22. In his draft year Petty was known as a good reader of the ball in flight and of the play. He still is, Smith obviously relies on his pace
  23. Bombers easily for me, Cats second. West Coast and Port are now also in my top 8 of most despised.
  24. One team has a big prize if they win, the other team has key outs and their season is done and dusted = Rnd 23 2017.

I had beers with a couple of Taswegians last night. One barracks for Hawthorn, the other the Saints. Both said they had barracked for the same club all their lives and wouldn’t swap to a new Tasmanian based club. I assume the Melbourne supporting Tasmanians on here feel the same. It would take a generation or more to get most on board.
