  1. I cut and paste this week after week. Out: Melksham - he plays like couldn't care less. In: Anyone While he's out of touch, I reckon we persist with Weid. He's the right type of player and if we can find him a cheap kill in the next month, it might be just the thing to kick-start his season.

  3. Absolutely feeling this comment. Homeschooling is awful. I'm really regretting having a no tech policy for my youngest as she's completely incompetent.
  4. Is it just me or are these pundits never right when it comes to the Dees? Surely, we pick some weird dude who's been tearing it up playing reserves out the back of woop woop. Or maybe in the Clarry mould - an overweight ranga. Actually, there's more than a bit of Moneyball about the way we've recruited of late.
  5. Yeah, tbh, I wouldn't have clue about the available talent, so I absolutely take your point.
  6. Totally forgot about him. I'm probably in the minority here, but I like Smith. I think the coaches do too and wouldn't be surprised to see them persist with him for quite a while yet.
  7. You're probably right but I suspect we're still in a bit of strife if the Browns or Majak (to a lesser extent) are playing back.
  8. I hope so. We're in a world of pain if another key defender goes down.
  9. Happy to be corrected, but I believe Richmond been last in this stat for the past 4-5 years. They are coached to play on the edge and it works for them. Also, they're not necessarily interested in being first to the ball, instead sweating on their opponents which provides turnover scoring (usually the most efficient scoring method) but also free kicks against.
  10. You've convinced me. Gee, it'd be good to make Lions fans pay us to watch us beat them. That said, I think they're a good side and will be hard to beat.
  11. Agree re: Max and admittedly could have made the same comment on any number of posts. Gus isn't racking up big numbers and has had a few weeks where his disposal has been sub-standard, however, if we were counting acts of courage, he would be streets ahead of any player on the team - he consistently backs into packs or goes back with the flight. Those are team lifting acts.
  12. If every player lived up to the standard set by D'land posters, the team would literally get 4,000 possessions in a game.
  13. Weideman must either be completely unfit or just unwilling to defend. I can live with him dropping the odd mark, but he doesn't make any effort to spread and pressure. The sight of him jogging around while others around him bust a gut, was killing me. That said, he's probably a better option than both Browns but I hope he gets a kick in the backside and comes out with a bit of intensity next Friday.

  15. Surely, they won't jump to 16 minute qtrs. We're half way through a season and there's an ok probability of this lockdown running it's course in 7 days ?.
  16. It's all about pressure on the disposal. We were there at every contest. Our structure and willingness to get to every contest was the same as the nine weeks prior, but we didn't affect the disposal with a tackle, attempted smother etc. I have the feeling this will be addressed and won't be an overly difficult fix. That said, I don't have us being able to go with the Dogs midfield. If we can stop them waltzing out of the middle, we're a huge chance but that task is mammoth one.
  17. I know we're looking for someone to blame and Max dropped a couple of marks but 20 disposals at 85%, 10 marks and a goal can hardly be defined as poor. If you took Max out of the game, we would have lost by more. He consistently got to the right spots and bailed us out down the line with contested marks.
  18. I'd argue it was there against Adelaide. It was just that final piece of pressure/desperation on the ball that was missing. It was a good lesson. Gut running and field coverage is not enough, you've still got do something when you get there.
  19. If our mids break even, we win, but that's the problem - they are close to unstoppable inside and out. Hopefully, being in quarantine for a day or two throws them.
  20. He seems to be coming along very nicely. He looks set in that back half role. I think our forward half pressure players are doing well because they're all fit with mature bodies that can stick those tackles, so I wouldn't be adding him to that mix. The wing could work, though.
  21. I'd add Chandler to that mix, too. I know he looked out of his depth a little against Carlton but he has shown enough at the lower level to suggest it's only a bit of belief that is required. Then you have 5 players in that role - Spargo, ANB, Kozzy, Bedford and Chandler - plus a few mids that can do it as well e.g Viney and Sparrow. We need to make sure that group is fresh every week because our game plan is highly reliant on those tackles sticking and it was evident against Adelaide that those boys were tired. It's not a running issue - they were gut running. The final part of the pressure puzzle just wasn't to the usual standard.
  22. We need to start rotating our small forward brigade as they are starting to look tired. Bedford has all the tools to play that role and should be considered.
  23. Definitely some chance. Our pressure game was set up nicely last night but we failed in the final execution/desperation to tackle, smother and harass. It was frustrating because everyone worked hard to be right where they needed to be, then we just didn't have that last bit of effort to get the job done. The game was another tick for our coaches. We played poorly in most aspects and were still incredibly hard to beat. Everything had to go right for Adelaide and it did.
