  1. Incorporating 150 pages advising that we got royally screwed in the trade. But such is life.
  2. Other clubs will be all over him like a nasty rash. Priority to re sign. If we hear waiting to consider all options at the end of the year, we are in trouble.
  3. Don't know much about this young fella, hope it works out for all , but a couple of bells are ringing. We only need A graders now and we can be a little 'Sandringham Centric ' at times.
  4. Maybe Taylor needs to have some currency before he spends it.
  5. Goodwin and Taylor will do what they think best neither have done much wrong in my eyes. Jack's had plenty of time to put his playing capabilities beyond doubt by now, yet here we are, still arguing about them. At best the picture remains unclear, at worst he hasn't done enough . Frankly more worried about how Connors can demonstrate " no conflict of interest" at Collingwood and in particular contracts for people like Trak coming up. Am surprised ( well maybe I'm not) the AFL haven't commented on this little manoeuvre. I'm also interested in how a player manager with complete, presumed private knowledge of the players he manages wouldn't put this information along with offers made to his clients available to his new employer for their advantage. The issue of possible early disclosure/ insider trading type stuff bothers me.
  6. Of course there is. Those three are pathetic. Where was the moral outrage on Scully multiplied a thousand times for the lies to Jimmy ?
  7. Interesting, quality ready mades preferred to the TAC under 18 lottery. Hawthorn been on to it for years and overlaid the family club salary rubbish as well. Unless the initial kids draft period is extended to 4/5 years could be heaps of fun for those Victorian clubs who truly bottom out. Maybe a boom and bust cycle after a period. Expect pay disparity between top players and lesser light minnows to widen now that the trade thing really opens up.
  8. Always enjoyable to read others two bobs worth. Thanks to those who provide the opportunity.
  9. The difference might also be because Goodwin coached them and had input into recruiting. Semantics
  10. I see that differently and pretty much semantics. Goodwin was the conductor of the Orchestra this year and excluding making the finals met expectations. Where we finished is where we finished. The Coach was Goodwin. As an aside I suspect the not making the finals might burn in this very competitive beasts, guts and may have a little to do with this thread. I don't necessarily have a problem with that either
  11. Seems to me that if you are regarded as good player you are well compensated. If you are perceived with deficiencies, clubs as you would expect, are constantly on about improving the list and you may become involved with this. I am also unaware of a completely happy, pleasant way of facilitating player movement on all occasions. Every Melbourne supporter wanted Watts to be a Carey, Pavlich type gun player. ( Every coach pre Goodwin too I suspect) Instead he became an okish player over a lengthy period IMO . Good some days , ordinary others ( some when we were really needing him to show up). Over the top emotion on list management and financial club mismanagement can wreck clubs. We should understand this better than most. I'm happy to support Goodwin, he improved us 20% in his first season.
  12. Jack has had 157 games to demonstrate to the footy world to prove that he is a high quality , consistent dangerous forward and put the issue beyond doubt like say Cameron , Lynch, Pavlich etc. Trouble is he hasn't at Melbourne and on the basis of the number of games he's had seems unlikely to do this for us. An opportunity for a fresh start might be just the thing to spur him on and give us the chance to do some fine tuning. ie Opportunity for both parties. Honestly don't see the need for any wrist slashing on this. Surely the coaching and recruiting staff reserve the right to make appropriate football decisions that they feel is in the best interest of all. After all the buck stops with them and they ultimately stand or fall on the back of them
  13. Get him. Get an A grademidfielder and 2nd large string ruck. Don't guff a continental about anything else. Dint care who we trade. Job must be done Trading Delidio sent the clear message.
  14. I think we all know he has the ability and skills. The frustrating part is the level of out put for 4 quarters. Goal tally and tackling pressure should be much higher. In the past he's out put level may have been considered reasonable for Melbourne in comparison to the rest of the team. But there is a new game in town with Goodwin requires a far greater effort and Jack is still operating at the same speed. Maybe the club has simply come to the conclusion that on this basis he's not going to assist with the push for a higher ladder spot and they have considered there are better options for the team.
  15. It's starting to get towards the point of handover, but we should also remember how the James McDonald situation ended and I'm pretty sure we wouldn't want a repeat. On the other hand Jonesy needs to be a realist. He's done a great job for us and should be afforded dignity when the time comes. I don't think however, that all involved , club, players, coaches supporters, would potentially want to see a situation where Jonesy's form could see him as a ' lame duck' co captain in the seconds. Bit of open ,sensible discussion between Coach and player required to avoid complications down the track. Its been done ok at other places Hawthorn for example. Might be getting close to transition Jonesy.
  16. Not sure what that says other than we have an even spread of 15 players with talent which is good. No top three A grade ball hunter types?
  17. I look forward to the sacrosanctedness for 2018 and the unapplication of same.
  18. But amusing none the less. The AFL MRP can find new ways to keep us entertained.
  19. Leaks suggest he's been cleared. Re watched the incident and the one involving Zac Jones on one of our boys. New line in the sand .
  20. You just said a mouthful Red. The AFL have a real opportunity to make clear how serious they are about the head here, but I fear they will make it even more cloudy and unfathonable. Time will tell.
  21. I'm crooked on the umpiring of the incident. Clearly his head rocks back and umpire nowhere near close enough to adjudge it. Poor effort with three umpires. Cotchin has already been very lucky this year, particularly with the jumper punch. Has has the benefit of minimal fines and is 'playing' the umpires. Third indiscretion and should go but probably won't. Umpire should definitely go.
  22. Deplorable "non decision"by the umpire. Might Dave Cotchin but shouldn't save him.
