  1. I really only watch demon games these days (with the exception of finals). And when i do i can't distinguish between opposition players and unless they kick a bag or are really cutting us up don't even notice them. So i don't have a clue how good Melksham is. That said i would two things. Goodwin has coached him and so i assume wold have a pretty good idea of his ability. Secondly since Hird went to the club it is safe to assume it has been a nightmare at EFC, certainly since the ASADA thing blew up. Hard to reach your potentail in that environment i suspect. Perhaps he can at the dees and Roos etc think so then that good enough for me
  2. There was also one that quoted Viney as saying the toump was the best trainer and the player he would pick
  3. Indeed. I started posting on DL about the time watts and nick nat were coming into their third year and the call we made a big error taking Watts were much, much louder and more widespread than the debate about Wines and Watts. There was barely anyone who argued we made the right choice. Most posters were incredulous any suggestion could even be made we made the right choice. Nik Nat was AA in his second year was he not and all and sundry pointed out how stupid we were not taking this once in a generation player. Well that noise has died down and there is a chance that in the next 2-3 years the majority view might be we made the right call. Most of the black and white, tunnel view brigade would have said such a possibility two years into their career was impossible - that anyone saying such a thing had to be delusional . Funny then that now people are saying it is impossible to imagine the Toump being a better player than WInes.
  4. There are none so blind as those who will not see
  5. Or perhaps it was the one where the toump gut ran to receive the ball on the wing, ran 20 meters and delivered a beautifully weighted lace out kick to a leading Hogan (who dropped it 5 meters in the clear, something he seems to escaped all criticism for - it would have sealed the game if he marked and kicked truly). Or maybe the previous NAB game where he repeatedly attacked the contest, including one brilliant effort where he went to a 2-1 contest in our forward pocket, won it and set up a goal.
  6. Not everyone. I've said this before but it is simply too early to be definitive about whether we made the right or wrong choice. Of course the evidence thus far suggests Wines will be a better player (and i agree at this point in time McCrae actually looks the best player) but again as I've posted before history is full of examples where the early call on players has been wrong. The best recent (and most relevant) example? Substitute the names Nik Nat and Watts for Wines and Toumpas and exactly the same sort of black and white statements were being made by most football fans, including posters here on DL. If BRFE had posted after their first two seasons that everyone accepts that we made the wrong choice taking Watts instead of Nik Nat few would have disagreed. Whilst many might still argue we made the wrong choice I doubt it is an overwhelming majority (here on DL or more generally). If Watts has a good year and Nik Nat has another indifferent one then this time next year the majority might even say the dees made the right choice.
  7. I'll wait until i see what others say before deciding if i know what i mean
  8. Only someone suffering from groupthhink would deny the accurate use of groupthink
  9. TBH HH i like it. It's got a nice feel about it. I'm in. But perhaps rather than yelling it every time he goes near the ball i'll start after he hits 25 possessions and/or 3 goals
  10. Rhymes with sharka, which can become sharkattack, or shark for short. So i'm going with SHARK for a nickname. And when he heats up and starts tearing all and sundry a new one one i will yell SHARK ATTACK!!!
  11. What you can see from a 2 minute clip is technique. And my man petracca has an excellent kicking technique. A good start. Compare to hogan who on set shot appears to have a technical flaw. Hard at that age to completely fix technical flaws.
  12. Yes I did. When I selected him as my avatar. Mind you I also selected dangermouse, lever and a blow up demon (thanks supermarcado).
  13. Just watched the vid and he nails very kick in it, including a bunch of goals, with one from the boundary line about 50 meters out. If he is a poor kick then the majority of MFC players are not even on the scale
  14. THE INSIDE WORDPowerful inside midfielder/forward who is strong overhead and a clearance star. Motivated and determined, he breaks tackles with his agility and strength, tackles well and his kicking is an asset.
  15. Like shooting fish in a barrel. By the by who are you quoting?
  16. 100% agree. Overrated is wines
  17. it could happen exactly the way we got tyson, who was also contracted.
  18. Would be consistent with two of Roos comments about the draft. One that they did not plan on taking Kelly. Two that Roos was specifically after tall mids and whilst Billings was only 2 cm taller than Kelly when drafted he was still taller none the less
  19. That's gold GM. Two weeks ago, great get. You should follow up now with a tweet to him with Roosy's quotes (which by the by they replayed on FC last night). I still reckon Edmund simply made the quotes up because seriously what recruiter would make such a big a call so early?
  20. Interesting that Watts-Nic Nat is brought up as blunder. A year ago every man and his ill informed dog (and many an increasingly silly looking dl poster - Ben Hur says hello) was 100% certain we had made a massive, massive blue. And now? Also its a nice reminder about Wines. He went number 7. We took the Toump at 4. So why are those two players bracketed together? Are the Bullies who had picks 5 and 6 being criticized? Should it not be the Toump v Mcrae/Stringer? But apart from anything else what the article above pre-supposes is that we got two serviceable players not two stars. What if they both turn out to be stars (as is increasingly looking likely). Would the gob smacked recruiter still be so sure? The other funny thing is Tyson went no 3 in the 2011 draft (one spot higher than the future brownlow medalist Kelly - which by the by if he is so good why didn't any one have him at number i like O'Meara or Martin?). I don't recall any gob smacked recruiters coming out at the time saying he went too high. So essntailly we got a number 3 pick and a number 9 pick. Out of interest i wonder where Edmunds industry sources think Tyson would go if he was available in this years draft.
  21. He has the all so rare ability to allow the opposition to move around him while he seems to stand still. Watss has it also. Pendulbury is the best at it.
