  1. I don't know anything about him as a bloke, though from the handful of interviews i've seen seems a pretty bright young man But as player he will be super important for us and will make an immediate impact for the club A best 22 lock who will play the wing in every game and play a key role linking the back and front halves. Super fit and whilst his offensive transition will get lots of deserved attention his defensive running might well make even more of an impact as even when we had most of our players fit and firing in 2018 defensive running was not a strength. Another important factor is his recruitment (and Tomlinsons) means we won't need to play players like Brayshaw on the wing who are better utilised elsewhere. And to top off the package, by all accounts seems a dedicated and professional AFL player who trains hard and looks after himself. A really terrific recruitment decision by both the MFC and the Demon Army. Well played.
  2. Pain might be good. They often say acls etc don't involve a huge amount of pain
  3. I don't disagree. But he only averages 1.3 goals per game over his career. In 2018 he averaged 2.3 and last season 2 per game. Two goals a game is nothing to sneeze at , particularly these days. But he plays almost as a traditional full forward not a crumbing small forward, for whom 2 goals a game is fantastic. Traditional full forward not so much For context last season he was 20th on the goal kicking list, tenth in the AFL for goal average and tenth for score involvements. Again nothing to sneeze at and way ahead of trac. But plenty of players ahead of ahead of him too. Don't get me wrong i rate him very highly, but i suspect he has hit his limit. And i suspect trac hasn't.
  4. Unless it is fake news. I don't believe anything i read on the internet. I'm actually 29.
  5. Not sure which one the Newtown Jets jumper is. A player? If it is the fella standing near barass at the start it is Slug Jordon, i think. A true Victorian sporting legend. I just googled newton and see who you mean. i'm 90% sure that is Ray 'Slug' Gordon
  6. That would be great. It would bring back vivid memories watching a game there now. When i was 12 i went to the footy almost every week (the 1979 season) with a mate who barracked for the Roos. We'd alternate dees and roos games so i saw quite a few games at Arden Street. Players like Shimma, Blight, Greig, Gumblemeton and Nolan stick in my mind. A couple of years back i stumbled on these two videos from exactly that time (maybe on a tip from someone on here?). Brilliant time capsule and well worth watching. Funny in the context of the planned hell and back videos. I told youss all we are behind the times! If you only watch a bit of it watch the first 4 -5 minutes of Part 1, which includes Barassi's first speech of the preseason and Mick Nolan's feeble attempt at a push up! And from 5:54 in Part 2 which is footage of i presume the Roos' first game of the season at Arden St. Barrassi pregame is gold.
  7. He's never even had any calf problems. Fake news!
  8. What a load of rot. I'll tell you something for free. You completety overestimate the impact of the opinions of demonlanders in particular and fans more generally.
  9. I was looking at the Philly 76ers twitter feed (I hasten to add im not on twitter, i linked out from an article accidentally) and they had a video (super low quality, obviously a phone) of brown (their coach) giving his post lakers win spell to the players in the change room (Great job blah blah, what a way to play in your first game as starter, cheers from players etc etc) in their dressing room. It ended with him giving simmons the Philly bell to ring as best player. Different market I know but it was up an hour after the game and already had over 60k views. Practically free and instant access to behind the scenes for fans. Terrific stuff. The doco is a great idea. And will get heaps of views.
  10. Pic 13 would suggest otherwise: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/albums/558075/maroochydore-camp-gallery-day-3?modal=true&type=gallery&playlistId=558075&playlistSize=23
  11. Luxury, sheer luxury. 199cm? In my day you'd be lucky if your ruckman was taller than a stunted pygmy!
  12. Two questions red. What price? And is the price overs, unders or a true reflection of rouges points chances? (Cool name btw). One more question. Is the derby a group race?
  13. I did say that trac wasn't as good yet. As you say degoey is more of a match winner. But whilst stats of course can be driving they are almost identical in bb every category. And i think sometimes with a player like degoey if you don't see every game, like we do with trac it can be easy to overrate their week to week performance.
  14. Look obviously we are not going to agree on this. But i reckon you are being super harsh in regard to his work rate and the implication he has not shown enough hunger. He overcame an ACL at the start of his career and this year is his first preseason that has not been interrupted in some way. And despite this has barely missed a game since his debut. This year is really the first time he can get really fit and he seems to have grasped that opportunity. Id on't see any lack of hunger, this year or in previous years. Did you look at the 2019 comparison to DeGoey? 15. I can see you are doubling down. A talented plodder to this point in his career? Really? Again, i disagree. This is his career averages: Career Season Averages Year Team GM K H D M G B T HO FF FA GA I50 CL CG R50 BL 2019 Demons 22 9.6 9.1 18.7 4.0 1.0 0.6 3.0 0.2 0.7 0.9 0.7 3.6 2.4 2.9 0.2 2018 Demons 24 11.2 9.1 20.2 4.0 0.8 1.0 3.0 0.2 0.6 0.9 0.9 4.3 2.6 3.7 0.6 0.14 2017 Demons 22 8.2 10.6 18.8 3.3 1.2 0.3 2.5 0 0.5 0.8 0.9 3.2 2.6 2.9 0.5 0.09 2016 Demons 17 8.5 8.9 17.4 2.5 0.7 0.7 3.3 0.2 1.0 0.7 0.8 3.9 1.9 3.0 1.1 Career 85 9.5 9.4 18.9 3.5 0.9 0.6 2.9 0.2 0.7 0.8 0.8 3.8 2.4 3.1 0.6 0.06 These are solid numbers. Remarkably consistent. An average of nearly 20 disposals a game is impressive for a player who has mainly played forward. Has been resilient and played though injury. these are nnot the numbers of a plodder This is his 2019 stats compared to DeGoey, a player he is often compared to. Now i'm not suggesting he is as good (yet) but the numbers are remarkably similar, as evidenced in the Supercocah and AFL Fantsy scores and values. Of particular interest are the score involvements, tackles inside 50, metres gained, one percenters, contested possessions and stoppage clearances (note his career averages are actually better than DeGoeys in almost all categories, with a notable exception being goals, 0.9 to 1.3). 16. Not potting you but in my opinion tgis is completely wrong. Seems to be a common view, even from dees fans who presumably watched him a fair bit. Which I find strange. He was terrific last year. As he noted he had surgery in the preseason and so never got fully fit. Which made it hard for him to stay in games for 120 minutes. But he was super consistent accross the season and our best forward. His season was massively underrated. Was ok the previous year too.
  17. I know many have noted it but jeez he looks fit. Saw a one of the camp photos on my phone and didn't recognise his face at first. If he plays a lot more mid field time he could be huge for us.
  18. Less kind people might say a donkey vote.
  19. One word paints a 100 words?
