  1. I can't help but wonder if it has anything to do with the way the McDonald retirement was handled and/or the inability to re-sign Bruce (regardless of the general consensus that he was past his prime and had obvious flaws in his game) which may have had a lasting impact on the players impression of the football staff/coaches
  2. I was thinking the exact same thing when I read it
  3. After a depressing week on Demonland its nice to be able to celebrate some good news that we can all agree on Interesting to note that he said Gotchy had been implementing Melbournes game plan at Casey, I though we didn't have a game plan!
  4. How many more of these threads do we need to start? Most of us are not satisfied with the performances to date which is fair enough but it's too early to gauge where the team is at this stage of the season (FWIW I think the loss of two critical senior players and a backline coach is having a bigger impact than many expected but I assume this will be overcome as the season wears on)
  5. Not wanting to perpetuate the annoying comparisons but hasn't Hurley spent some time as a Defender?
  6. Thats exactly my point - due to the rare nature of the injury the recovery time is unknown thus indefinite as defined here
  7. Looks like Scully has been rolled back to 6 weeks again. I think we can consider it as 'indefinite' injury now and the club is probably of the same view but maybe doesn't want to start a media fire by officially calling it so
  8. I'm certain Cam Schwab tweeted that Garland could be a possible future forward option early last year following a loss when we were struggling to find a target up forward
  9. I'm pretty sure Terry Wallace invented the flood back in 2000 when he conjured up a Bulldog victory against the all-conquering Essendon
  10. The improvement of Beamer (and Jones) was noted early last year as a reason for our improvement during the first five rounds of 2010. Great to see that Beamer has continued that form and arguably improved in his role this year. However, I don't think the same could be said of Jones at this stage which is frustrating. I also thinks Sylvia is going through the motions a little bit and think this is a reason for our sloppy start to the year - a lack of application and polish from all the experienced players on our list. It would be great to see a collective improvement from this group after the bye.
  11. I think we are a better shot against the Eagles at Pattersons that North at Etihad/Telstra Dome/Docklands or whatever than ground is called...North will bring their A-grade out just for us I'll bet
  12. You spoke too soon!
  13. What ever happen to us being the team that played on the most? I thought that was part of our gameplan last year but that doesn't seem to be the case this year and I believe Essendon is now leading the league in this regard.
  14. How will this be interpreted by the paranoid fans...
  15. Nice to see that the Jack Watts articles are slowly getting more palatable just as he is slowly developing. I will be framing the first newspaper article that hopefully says something like: Watts on Fire! Jack unleashes his Demons with a dominant display
  16. Interesting idea, methinks Morton would have to be the most likely given his versatility and limited preparation. Suprised by this choice but morton must have really impressed at training this week.
  17. Surely Morton is a good chance for the sub given his versatility and limited preparation
  18. I had a choice last year between a graduate job in Canberra and a graduate job in Melbourne. The Canberra job paid more and was more relevant to my field of study and career interests, but that wasn't enough to lure me away from my girlfriend and life here in Melbourne. Besides, now that I'm finally not a student I can actually afford to go to footy games more often and my office here has a great view of the 'G!
  19. That poor kid has had it rough, from Wangaratta to Adelaide to Western Sydney...Geez
  20. Good initiative by the club to publish a piece like this (assuming that he is being close to 100% honest in the article) and I look forward to hearing about the rest of the draftees I do believe that he can come on in leaps and bounds just like Jack Riewoldt and our own James Frawley as long as he puts in the hard yards and is as competitive as he was seen to be.
  21. Where was Paul Roos Coaching from during the Swans premiership year?
  22. I voted 3 - The two games @ the 'G plus GC. I would be satisfied with that. 4 would be ideal, 5 just seems unrealistic on form to date (Thats not to say the boys shouldn't be aiming for 5, but can't seem them delivering on the kinds of consistency we are hoping for just yet)
  23. Haha. Sorry I was trying to be sarcastic, we really need a universally recognized emoticon for sarcasm I think Dermott is pretty much on the mark. Coming into this year and this game I was very concerned about the ability of our midfield to stand up against sides like Hawthorn. So a smashing yesterday was not really surprising, its more the manner in which it occured and probably seems worse only because we somehow managed to have a 3 goal lead at half time. Had the hawks kicked straight in the first and taken a lead into half time I have a feeling it might have been a different game with us coming at them in the third only to be overrun in the last... But thats just pure speculation...
  24. Are you crazy?! We should be top four by now with all our high draft picks!!!
  25. The coaches made a similar observation about Bail in their player assessment They were generally praising most players, the only one who seemed to get a bad review was Maric: Addam Maric: Addam has had a very good pre-season and he did some good work, but didn’t make the most of his opportunities in this game. He could face a challenge to get the nod again next week, or at a minumum might be the sub. I think he deverves another chance though after a solid preseason and while Wonna gets up to full strength.
