Clearances 9-16. There's a lot of gumby efforts by Melbourne players tonight, reminds me of the Adelaide game. Aaaaand another throw by us. Aaaaand another holding the ball. Jackson is better off staying away from the ball tonight. I'm not a Brayshaw fan but he's been great.

STOP WITH THE DUMB FREES MELBOURNE
-
So we come out, give away a dumb free and then give away a dumb goal. Great start.
-
Would help if we could win a clearance! But yes, Weideman is never there when you need him.. and Jackson has the conviction and marking ability of a nervous 12 year old.
-
Can't buy a clearance. The lack of pressure and number of loose Lions around the ground has been extremely concerning. Defence looks nervous as hell. They're giving us a lesson in how to mark.
-
As well as we've played, the marking tonight has been poor. Very jumpy with the ball in the air the last 2 weeks. but overall I'm EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THIS

I always feel sorry for the poor cleaners/club officials who have to deal with the aftermath..
-
No offence but you can't be serious.. Gus officially had 10 clangers today, only 1 tackle and just 66 ranking points (Oliver 140, Langdon 110 for scale). That is a horrendous waste of 26 possessions. I can't see how you can think he's possibly improved?

Tom McDonald you star. What a resurrection. Heart and Soul stuff. Fantastic win against a team that was incredibly hungry. Brayshaw is getting shakier by the week. Never feel confident when he has it, it's a real concern for us. He's way off the pace. I'd almost bring Jones in instead next week. Well done guys, what a year. I can't believe this is actually happening.

Brayshaw looks way off the pace at the moment. Slow and tentative.

I had him in at 4th best ?
-
for me it was Gawn / Langdon / Pickett... Kossie's goals kept us in it. Once again, we should have won by a lot more. But again I'll take it. We'll need to be a hell of a lot cleaner at the G next week,..and if we win that? I WILL BELIEVE ❤️ ?

showing Lever how to take a mark above his head.
-
What's going on with our centre clearances this year, as in.. why can't we buy one. Also, bad Tmac tonight, looks like treacle and making bad choices. And Lever - if you must insist on soft option chest marks, at least hold them mate.
-
We all saw it
-
Embarrassing Melbourne. Lever shakey.
-
It's alway just such a mess when we play, even when we win.
-
IF we win this, I still won't know much about us this year. It'll be arguably down to all the Giant's injuries. We simply can't keep torching forward opportunities though. Good by Maxy :)
-
What a legend Pickett. I officially have a new favourite player, time to update my bio.
-
Well this aged well ?
-
If Fritta leads any wider he'll be in the car park. Even if he gets it he'll have a less than 10% chance of kicking it.
-
How is 'bombing it' inside 50 still an acceptable option when under no pressure? Particularly when we have a second string forward line. I don't want to see this again and again every week, we have to be better than this. They are swallowing it up every time. Giants forward line looking open and dangerous in comparison. Worrying start.

Well, it was a clumsy, fumbly mess but fortunately we have May and Lever...and Freo could not have played any worse. Composure and foot skills horrendous as per usual, a hell of a lot of dropped chest marks and double grabbing. Weird stuff. The majority of teams would have beaten us today from what I witnessed, but let's take the win and work on those areas. Next week it steps up a notch. Next 3 weeks could define our season. 3-1 would be amazing.

I was actually excited turning up today, even if it was a pre-season game. Finally after 18 months, Live Football in the flesh! I was not excited when I left. I don't care about the outs, there was no soul in this team, nowhere near the required pressure and intensity - just the same predictable skill errors and the usual suspects killing chains of possession. I regret going today. The only thing I learned is how completely stuffed we are if Oliver ever gets injured... because we are deadset D-grade in the middle without him. I have a horrible feeling we're about to waste a third year in a row Post 2018 - and this group's potential is going to be p*$$ed up against a wall because this particular coach can't inspire or get the best from them.
