AFL Under 18 Championships 2023
There are so many permutations and donât count the dogs out of pushing up the board either. Or the Suns to take pick 1 if they think they are in with a shot. As much as I love Watson and Dursmaa and McKercher, Reid is so far about everyone bar Jed Walter (which there is still a gap). His best is still the best weâve seen in underage footy since maybe Walsh? Maybe as far back as Trac? Honestly probably had a better 2 years underage than both of them. Iâd love 2 picks inside 7 - but if we walk away with Reid and a 20 something pick, Iâm smiling come round 1. Imagine Daicos in our centre square - just give up trying to tag someone.

CASEY: Rd 18 vs Coburg
It was an odd game as it showed where he lacks in his game (remembering most of his game is outstanding AA level). Marking was poor. He could do the work to out muscle an opponent and then drop the mark. The kicking for goal wasnât great. The sense of where the goals are. When and how to get separation. In saying that, he got about 6 good looks. On another day, he could have 5 and weâd be laughing. Itâs not a bad move by the Dees and as long as Grundy keeps working, he is going to get rewards. He can do it.

CASEY: Rd 18 vs Coburg
Yep - but only about 3-4 months where JVR was at the same stage. Depending on BBB and JVR we could see a Jeffo debut next year in the second half

I wonder if Grundy will ruck when itâs a forward stoppage? I guess grabbing out of the ruck and kicking goals is good practice as well?

Welcome to Demonland Kynan Brown
Vic Metro havenât been great, and Oakleigh havenât been great, so being the best player in a bad team doesnât help. I think He doesnât have a trick - he is a really good solid player who gets the best out of himself. Not unlike Woey or Lachie Hunter in his draft year. They are father son, they are not top tier, so there is no story there. Could see a mid to late second bid, but equally see it dropping to 45ish. Wonât go a rookie though - itâs too shallow for that.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
I really feel for Brodie. All this week it is going to be about him not being good enough and he has made the wrong decision.

Chances are weâll get one of them.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Itâs odd that someone with multiple goals in these games hasnât had any media attention. Letâs see how the champs go.

CASEY: Rd 10 vs Werribee
Jefferson is a great mark and a good kick. He is a different player than JVR and doesnât have the size to impose himself - not unlike Fritch. He has more in his kit bag than Cook and Newton and letâs not forget Watts played 200 games. If we get 200 games from Jefferson weâve done well.

The List
These sort of âhow did they land thereâ picks are becoming rarer due to better scouting (Oliver a very clear example of this). So unlikely that there will be these sorts of generational talents multiple times per drafts like they used to. Expect Seaston. Obviously he is generational đ

The List
it is a good side.... gee is would win a few games. You are right - 1 or 2 absolute stars in there will really help. There ar ea lot of very good players and projected really good players in that side, but there isn't an Oliver, Gawn, May, Lever, Petracca yet....yet.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Whoever gets #1 will keep it. Weâve seen with Daicos this year what an impact a young player can have. Reid is better. Iâm not sure you could trade 3 top 10s for him.

CASEY: Rd 05 vs Richmond
Should be about 100-0 so far. But as a positive, Adams looks good

Google VFL watch and it will take you to the afl website =)

Angus Brayshaw
He had stringer contained and then moved to cover others. He wasnât the problems today

CASEY: Rd 03 vs Frankston
Back out there

CASEY: Rd 03 vs Frankston
Laurie but hasnât been in there a lot today. AMW has and JJ of course in week 1. our main drive has been from Tomlinson, Howes and Smith of HB.

CASEY: Rd 03 vs Frankston
The lack of good ball users into the forward 50 Is worrying. Poor Schache and Jefferson. Howes and AMW look brilliant.
-
CASEY: Rd 02 vs Sydney Swans
Played a lot of mopping of half back and then through the centre when the ball was around the ground. I might have missed him at a centre bounce if he was at them(?). He played really well, but I'm not so sure he would be pushing into the team unless there are injuries or someone really has a terrible, terrible game. There is a lot to work with there, but it wasn't like JJ last week. I thought Tomlinson was probably best on for us. But that is just my opinion.

Welcome to Demonland Kynan Brown
I was hoping #3 was Brown but worried it was Lorenz. My take away so far (watching on and off) is that his tank seems to be much more developed than the other mids and seems to be ready to âhuntâ it more than others. I thought Oakleighâs clearance game suffered when he wasnât in there. I thought #15 was a top ager (Yze is bottom age). His kicking and vision are afl level and while skinny, he looks like he stands up to the older boys. I also thought you could see he has been in a program (or at least his dad is coaching him). His half forward running is fantastic. Up and down a lot of unrewarded running and doesnât get sucked into the content. Set up a beautiful goal before half time where he ran into space, lost his man, and instead of blazing for goal he put a pass out in front of Oakleighs key forward who had no choice but to run to the ball as it âDrewâ him in. Itâs only one half - but if I was picking players I would want to be drafted to Melbourne - theyâd be in my top 5 Iâve seen today.

Where did you find the replay? Iâve been looking for it. Thanks!

CASEY: Rd 01 vs Footscray
I thought it was his marking rather than his kicking. But I also haven't seen the points today, so they could just be hard shots.
