CASEY: Rd 22 vs Brisbane Lions
Size would help, but the two big contests he lost was he thought he had it and a smaller, quicker opponent stole the ball, turned and ran. Annoying, but not something he can’t fix for the second half

Think that is harsh on T Mac and Hibbo. Agree that the mistakes are bad (a combo of running under the ball and delivery [due to no judging the wind]).

For those who aren’t watching, we are not dominating. We are being well beaten. It’s just their kicking for goal has been as bad as our field kicking.

TMac spots up Jefferson and he goals. Two things here: 1. Jefferson completely missed the last kick into 50 which would have given TMac his 3rd 2. TMac went to Jefferson rather than Grundy in teh square. oh Grundy doesn’t help himself, but really could be setting the world alight if a few things went his way And Turner just out bodied Buzza….. sheeesh.

Brisbane’s kicking is keeping us in it. We are getting smashed around the ball. They are much bigger than us which doesn’t help and we seem to be taking longer in each possession than we should. Dan Turner picked up where he left off. If Tom McD makes it through the game he’ll play against Syd. Spargo and Grundy are ready if/when required. Jefferson looking ok. He’s clearly football smart and listens. He keeps his space, looks where the players and spacing is. Oddly I’d liken it to ANB, you know he is working really hard to do what the coach is asking if him.

Nothing against the young kid KFW; but I do like that after losing multiple hits outs, Grundy comes up as says “no, no, it’s me now”. KFW is a lovely project, he just hasn’t learned football yet.

Looks like Schace and Jordan have been sent to the G.

Harley Reid
Amen to that

Harley Reid
This is the thing. He does walk on water. Watch some of his highlights v any other player in this pool. I’d love to say we are going to get 3 guns that will equal him, but they arent there. It does sound insane, but how many would you trade for Oliver? Or Petracca? That’s what we are talking about.

AFL Under 18 Championships 2023
There are so many permutations and don’t count the dogs out of pushing up the board either. Or the Suns to take pick 1 if they think they are in with a shot. As much as I love Watson and Dursmaa and McKercher, Reid is so far about everyone bar Jed Walter (which there is still a gap). His best is still the best we’ve seen in underage footy since maybe Walsh? Maybe as far back as Trac? Honestly probably had a better 2 years underage than both of them. I’d love 2 picks inside 7 - but if we walk away with Reid and a 20 something pick, I’m smiling come round 1. Imagine Daicos in our centre square - just give up trying to tag someone.

CASEY: Rd 18 vs Coburg
It was an odd game as it showed where he lacks in his game (remembering most of his game is outstanding AA level). Marking was poor. He could do the work to out muscle an opponent and then drop the mark. The kicking for goal wasn’t great. The sense of where the goals are. When and how to get separation. In saying that, he got about 6 good looks. On another day, he could have 5 and we’d be laughing. It’s not a bad move by the Dees and as long as Grundy keeps working, he is going to get rewards. He can do it.

CASEY: Rd 18 vs Coburg
Yep - but only about 3-4 months where JVR was at the same stage. Depending on BBB and JVR we could see a Jeffo debut next year in the second half

CASEY: Rd 18 vs Coburg
I wonder if Grundy will ruck when it’s a forward stoppage? I guess grabbing out of the ruck and kicking goals is good practice as well?

Welcome to Demonland Kynan Brown
Vic Metro haven’t been great, and Oakleigh haven’t been great, so being the best player in a bad team doesn’t help. I think He doesn’t have a trick - he is a really good solid player who gets the best out of himself. Not unlike Woey or Lachie Hunter in his draft year. They are father son, they are not top tier, so there is no story there. Could see a mid to late second bid, but equally see it dropping to 45ish. Won’t go a rookie though - it’s too shallow for that.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
I really feel for Brodie. All this week it is going to be about him not being good enough and he has made the wrong decision.

Chances are we’ll get one of them.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
It’s odd that someone with multiple goals in these games hasn’t had any media attention. Let’s see how the champs go.

CASEY: Rd 10 vs Werribee
Jefferson is a great mark and a good kick. He is a different player than JVR and doesn’t have the size to impose himself - not unlike Fritch. He has more in his kit bag than Cook and Newton and let’s not forget Watts played 200 games. If we get 200 games from Jefferson we’ve done well.

The List
These sort of “how did they land there” picks are becoming rarer due to better scouting (Oliver a very clear example of this). So unlikely that there will be these sorts of generational talents multiple times per drafts like they used to. Expect Seaston. Obviously he is generational 😜

The List
it is a good side.... gee is would win a few games. You are right - 1 or 2 absolute stars in there will really help. There ar ea lot of very good players and projected really good players in that side, but there isn't an Oliver, Gawn, May, Lever, Petracca yet....yet.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Whoever gets #1 will keep it. We’ve seen with Daicos this year what an impact a young player can have. Reid is better. I’m not sure you could trade 3 top 10s for him.

CASEY: Rd 05 vs Richmond
Should be about 100-0 so far. But as a positive, Adams looks good

Angus Brayshaw
He had stringer contained and then moved to cover others. He wasn’t the problems today
